after they learned a juvenile there... had a gun. today... the district explained... between learning about the gun... finding it... and arresting the student... only three minutes elapsed. the district says... at that point... the threat had been neutralized... and there was no longer a reason for a lockdown. the district still however... sent out a message to parents letting them know what had happened. "essentially what what was sent out is a message informing families that an incident had occurred on campus and it had been dealt with immediately and it was being investigated, but they wanted to assure families that the building was safe." to contrast... yesterday in the stead area. schools were locked down for a while... because there was a manhunt happening in the area of the school. district officials say the threat there was still imminent... so that is why the lockdown happened. district officials added that every incident is different... and every incident is treated in the way administrators deem appropriate. live in studio... colin lygren... kolo 8 news now.

patrol released the name of a man killed, during a car chase in carson city. last thursday night, carson city sheriff's deputies saw 21-year-old edy prudensio martinez-ramirez driving a stolen pickup. when deputies tried to pull him over, he sped off after hitting a sheriff s-u-v. investigators say he lost control and was thrown from the truck. he was pronounced dead at the scene. ### reno police released the name of the man they believe stole two trucks and led them on a chase. they believe 19 year old rylin wolfe stole a truck yesterday morning in stead. police say wolfe took off when he saw police and stole another truck. wolfe is five foot six and 150 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. he is considered to be armed and dangerous. anyone with information about where he is, can call reno police or secret witness at 322-4900. a case of zika virus has been confirmed in yolo

county's website, the individual recently traveled out of the country-- and has a mild case of zika. according to the c-d-c, the most common symptoms are fever, rash, joint pain and red itchy eyes. if you go to a country where zika is present, you should see a doctor--- if you experience any of the symptoms with-in three to seven days after your return. zika is spread by mosquitoes and is tied to birth abnormalities in newborns. ### the nugget casino resort has been sold again. this is just a few years after it was purchased by global gaming and hospitality. the company bought the casino resort from john ascuaga in 2013. marnell gaming announced today that they entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the nugget. this will have to be reviewed and approved by the nevada gaming commission. but this deal is expected to go through sometime this year. this announcement comes a day after the nugget announced this year's star spangled

from july fourth to july third. the federal environmental protection agency has given the state and lyon county a little more time to come up with an alternative plan, to clean up a portion of the old anaconda copper mine. the e-p-a wants to put a portion of the old mine on its national priority list, but many in mason valley-- worry the listing would affect property values, and economic development. so-- governor sandoval asked the e-p-a to hold off until september, while everyone searched for other ways to fund the estimated 32 to 40 million dollar project. the e-p-a has responded-- with a new deadline of march 29th, but they did offer to meet with local officials to discuss ways to lessen the impact, of the priority listing. the listing could mean the federal government would cover 90-percent of the cost, but state officials say that funding is not guaranteed. ### today nevada senator harry reid announced three point nine million dollars will be used for

burglars are making off with thousands of dollars worth of computer equipment stolen from a local non-profit. junior achievement of northern nevada, says it's going to take a year before everything is back to normal. the burglary happened late monday night. police believe, three or four suspects were involved. the thieves rummaged through each room, taking computer servers, sound equipment, even snack food. j-a president... bill hite-men heitman says it's going
