and i'm kenny choi. new this morning, a police pursuit in san francisco ends in the peninsula - as a deadly car crash. kpix five's lisa chan is live in sunnyvale - with the latest on the investigation. "so they were traveling at a high rate of speed on 101.. crash happened covered pretty l good morning, everybody and welcome back. it is tuesday, november 22nd. i am michelle griego. >> and i am kenny choi. we are here to begin with lisa chan after a please chase ended in two dead. >> reporter: yes. the chp got involved in robbery suspects from 101 to 85 south to 287 to grant road to fremont in sunnyvale. then where fremont and el camino intersect the suspect lost control and hit five parked cars from the parking lot. the passenger was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene and the passenger was taken to the hospital and arrested with injuries. >> the crash happened at 12:59

this morning. we covered a long distance in about 15 minutes. >> reporter: the chp says the suspect was driving over 100 miles per hour on the freeway. and drove from belmont to sunnyvale in just 15 minutes. the driver is 19 years old. the passenger was only 18. now, el camino rial at wolf is closed. the chp says it should be closed for a few more hours. live in sunnyvale, lisa chan, kpix 5 news. for more on that let's check this with roqui with a look at the morning commute. >> el camino rial at wolf is closed. so, look here, sunnyvale police suggest the best alternate route for that area is reid avenue or holm stead road so -- holmstead road so keep that in mind if you are heading out in that area this morning.

telling. voter approved measure j says no public money from the general fund should go toward the stadium. last week the mayor warned the 49ers to hand over all their financial documents so auditors can finish their jobs. >> i think what we will find out when this autocomes to an end is i -- audit comes to an end, i think there is a lot of money that santa clara has not received. privately view uments they needed almost a month ago -- documents... they don't want made public, because they could hurt event negotiations.. and the *profit the city makes from them. the mayor says -- the public owns levi's stadium -- and nothing should be conf the documents could hurt negotiations and the profit the city makes from them which is why the 49ers don't want the documents public. but the mayor says the city owns the stadium and nothing should be confidential.

>> it started getting contentious after the super bowl when then mayor jamie matthew stepped down. he had been a huge proponent for the 49ers and the super bowl coming to santa clara. accidentally there is new leadership and mayor lisa gilmore is clearly not messing around, anne, thank you. police are looking for a man that followed a bart passenger from a station in san leandro then robbed her. it appears the suspect trailed the 48-year-old victim out of the bayfair station friday night. he attacked at 159th avenue and molbert hitting the victim repeatedly be a blunt object and the woman suffered severe facial injuries. in alameda county a search is under way to find out who fatally shot a high school football player outside a bowling alley. 19-year-old antoine williams was a senior at oakland high school. police say he was killed saturday night outside the a

gone too far. and now.. they want one of the local sheriff's to resign. they say officers recently used water cannons in freezing temperatures.. to try to get control of the crowds. were people protesting a pipeline in north dakota say officers went too far ring water cannons to get control of the crowds. the protestors say it was too harsh but the sheriff is saying -- >> we are not going to let people come in in large groups and threaten officers. >> they were met with brutal course with water cannon, tear gas, pepper spray and rub better bullets, an unbelievable amount.

it was a horrific scene. >> officials say nearly 200 protestors had to be treated for hypothermia. a teenager was shot and killed after police in santa cruz county say they threatened him with a knife. in newly are he leased body cam video you can hear deputies talking to a 15-year-old who they say was high on lsd. >> we know you are under the influence. lsd is a tough thing. it is hard to differentiate between what is reality and what is not. >> luke smith took a bad batch of lsd and stabbed his father and uncle multiple times. the teen was found hopping fences armed with a knife. deputies tried to get him to surrender for 13 minutes then fired foam bullets using tasers and a k-9. one deputy opened fire. >> luke was within five feet of the handler. the handler felt very vulnerable and had indicated that he thought he was about to

get stabbed. >> smith's father and uncle suffered serious injuries when he attacked them deputies arrested the suspected drug dealers later that night. today former san francisco 49ers player bruce miller heads to court for an assault case. he is accused of beating a 70- year-old man and his son in san francisco after he mistakingly tried to get into their hotel room in september. this surveillance video the fisherman's wharf hotel show him stumbling through a hallway where he was arrested. he faces seven charges now. a facebook drone failure is under investigation by the u.s. safety agency. the drone seen here ran its first unmanned test flight back in june. the high altitude aircraft suffered a structural failure, however, as it tried to land. fortunately no one was hurt in the incident. all right, a i long with the championship ring, steph curry is sporting new jewelry

you about 22 minutes. that traffic is backed into the maze and through the maze. now here is a look at the san mateyo bridge from hayward. this is slow commute of 20 minutes between 880 and 101. traffic moving slowly off the toll plaza. moving to the altamonte pass, traffic coming off 205 at 9 miles per hour. you are creeping your way over to northland road where speeds pick up to 28 miles per hour. also on the eastbound side, eastbound 580 on the northland road offramp, there is a two big rig crash partially blocking the lane. now reports are saying it is completely closed, the offramp there. if that is part of your -- off ramp there. if that is part of your commute, avoid that. downtown san jose, the commute between 101 to 680 on highway 85 on 280 northbound will take you 11 minutes. liz, now to you and the

weather. here are many different views of the bay bridge this morning. this is from the roof cam. you can see there are a few low clouds breaking up out there. for the most part it is clear and temperatures are very cold because of that, as well. right no you we are seeing, let's see san francisco is 49 and san jose is 45 degrees. only 7 in santa rosa. we are in the middle of a brief dry break. i say brief because the rain is looking like it is coming again as early as this evening. the next low arrived tonight. you can see it right now moving further east. we will time things out with futurecast. for much of the day this morning we will see sunshine. it will be a nice day even though it will be on the cooler side. the clouds will roll in this afternoon and around sun set the rain will move in the north bay in santa rosa, then continuing to move south over the rest of the bay area. likely around 7:00 or 7:38. right now it is it is showing after the bulk of the okay commute. then it looks like it -- of

the evening commute, then it looks like it is tapering off quickly for the evening hours. patchy valley fog right now in the north bay. increasing clouds later on today. cool, around or at or below average for this time of year. then the rain arrives later this evening. much of the day, a far majority of the day will remain dry. the sunrise is coming up at 6:58. sunset is at 4:54. high temperatures today similar to yesterday. maybe a degree or two cooler depending on where you are. 61 in redwood city, 63 in oakland, 60 in san rafael and 58 if forecasted high in pacifica. here is a look at the forecast over the next several days. we will keep the rain chances in for the overnight although the day time is dry. later on this evening in the overnight hours we could see the rain. wednesday is a big travel day. right now it will be looking to dry out and make for a great travel day. thanksgiving remains dry, as well.

an armed robbery suspect on 101 near sfo. the chp got involved on 101 at ralston and continued to chase the suspect to 85 south to 237 to grant road to fremont here this sunnyvale. a chp officer explained to me why they made a decision to continue the high speed chase. >> during that time there were not that many vehicle os the freeway. we had to stop this vehicle before it could commit other crimes and the fact they were driving at a rec whether he is speed, that is -- reckless speed, we wanted to make sure we got them off the road before they hurt somebody else. >> reporter: the passenger of the car was eject from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. the driver was arrested and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. the chp says they were driving over 100 miles per hour on the freeway, 70 on the streets. the driver is 19 years old. the passenger is only 18. the chp just told us that the driver will be charged with

vehicular manslaughter, evading police and driving under the influence of drugs. live in sunnyvale, lisa chan, kpix 5 news. there are new sexual assault accusations against a former elementary school coach in menlo park. three more boys have come forward. julio or tease is phasing charges -- ortiz is facing charges for assaulting young boys. the 36-year-old met the victims while working at elementary schools in redwood city. if he is convicted he could face life in prison. levi's stadium will be at the center of a big discussion in santa clara today. the city's mayor wants the 49ers to turn over its financial reports. >> yes. kpix 5 news' anne makovec joins us live to explain the big off the field battle. >> not long after the super bowl the relationship between the city of santa clara and the 49ers soured. the city of santa clara now threatening to take over levi's stadium. the mayor says the team stone

santa rosa is 36 degrees. as we get closer and closer to sunrise the temperatures will continue to dip by a couple of degrees here. definitely cooler today than what we saw yesterday. at this time yesterday, for example, concord, oakland were about 50 degrees. concord right now is 43. you may need the heaters as you are getting ready for the short workweek. here is a look at visibility. it looks pretty good. parts of the south bay and east bay pretty clear outside right now. the patchy valley fog in the north bay keeps kind of moving through, affecting visibility on the roads. petaluma, napa, fairfield and santa rosa. right now it looks good through petaluma but a little while ago it was showing zibet at 0. the patchy fog weaves through so it could change minute by minute. we will see sunshine and blue skies today. the clouds will roll in as the afternoon continues. tonight starting in the north

bay and moving south. much of it will be after the evening commute to the overnight hours. we will time it out if in are for you coming up, but first let's talk traffic with roqui. >> thank you, liz. it is 6:36 now. if you are headed from the american canyon area into vallejo we have a traffic alert issued by chp to tell you about just now. this is westbound 80 before the hunter hill rest stop. a solo car crash overturned but landed right side up and is blocking the two left lanes in the area. traffic is moving at just 23 miles per hour. it could get worse as time progresses. it is a traffic alert, meaning italy will take 30 minutes or more to clear out of the roadway. now let's move to westbound 80. this in pinole, traffic in that area moving at 24 miles per hour. moving to the el camino rial situation we had earlier this morning overnight at wolf road, the fatal car crash is still

being investigated and we are seeing the sunnyvale police saying it should reopen at 8:00 or 9:00 this morning. as an alternate route you should take reid offense or holmstead road as you head out for the morning commute. back to you. the superintendant of the oakland school district is reportedly headed to washington, d.c. late last night the district sent out an email thanking antoine wilson for his service. school officials say graduation rates have increased and suspension rates have dropped since wilson was hired two years ago. the washington post reports that the mayor of d.c. will nominate wilson as school chancellor later today. a high school in oakland is catching some heat for one of its meetings. a faculty member at oakland tech high reportedly sent out a letter inviting teachers to a post election meeting quote particularly for white staff members. it goes on to say it is a space where they with process what people of color have been processing their entire lifetimes.

a spokesman with the school district says it with us well intended, but poorly written. well, more racist graffiti has turned up in danville, scrawled on a bus that serves the high school there. it comes a week after a student found the words white and colored written over the urinals in the boys' bedroom. was recorded at an 4q event for the national policy institute -- a group of so-called "alt- right activists" white supremacists celebrating trump's victory is causing a lot of concern now. a group of so-called alt-right activists shows members giving a nazi salute while cheering for trump. the trump advisor calls this quote a platform for thality- right. bannon now claims to reject the racist and anti-semitic elements of the movement.

this morning a father is being held without bail, accused of drowning his 4-year- old daughter in a church baptismal pool. police arrested 42-year-old gerardo mendoza ordaz on suspicious of murder. he showed up to the police station monday night naked, yelling for help, hold 2nd inning child's lifeless body. after officers interviewed him they determined the death was not accidental. no word yet on a possible motive. after a bizarre week of canceled shows and wacky performances, kanye west checked himself into a hospital. according to a source close to the family west is being treated at ucla's medical center in l.a. it comes during the anniversary of his mother's death and months after his wife, kim kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in france. west canceled the remainder of his saint pablo tour. the time now is 6:39. a school bus driver in tennessee is facing criminal charges in the horrific crash that killed five children and sent more than 20 to the hospital. >> and more than 100 horses in

tennessee. we now know four elementary school girls and one boy died when their school bus crashed in chattanooga. school officials say six other students are in the icu. the bus was going too fast, investigators say, when it flipped on its side and crashed into a tree yesterday. authorities charged the 24-year- old bus driver, johnthony walker, with reckless driving. one of the boys on the bus talked to reporters about the driver. the first time since december of 1999 in a all three indices did that on the same day. all three again heading higher today. cyber security stocks, though, not enjoying the rally after mixed results and a slighty weaker than expected forecast. its shares are down double- digits and other silicon valley firms also falling. volkswagon says it will start building electric vehicles in north america in 2021. it has not said where it will do so. it has a big plant in pueblo, new mexico where it makes the gulf. and another plant in chattanooga, tennessee, where it makes two other vehicles. the market off to a good start like we said. let's look at the numbers and see if the dow can stay above 19,000 for the first time.

it is just over 30 points. nasdaq gaining 12 and the s&p 500 up by 3 points in the early going. kenny, back to you. in richmond, city officials get a tip about illegal dumping and suddenly discover a horse ranch. >> but they also determined the stable is breaking several laws. now the place has one month to move 100 horses. authorities stress that all the waste from the stables runs right into a creek, violating clean air laws. that could mean moving 120 animals and the county doesn't have the space to house them all. the ranch is pushing to stay where it is but the mayor says keeping the animals isn't so simple. >> we are not how the to punish anybody or put anybody out of business. the first thing we want to do is work with the people to get it resolve. >> we live for our horses all of our lives. >> the ranch owners plan to meet with city council members in the last couple days.

the time is 6:46. let's get a check on the roads with roqui. >> thank you, michelle. yes, we have a traffic alert in the vallejo area on westbound 80. let's take a look here. chp issued a traffic alert westbound 0 before the hunter hill rest stop. if you are headed from the american canyon area to vallejo, this will affect your commute. it is a solo rollover crash that ended up on its right side. we have traffic moving in the area at 11 miles per hour and that traffic is backed up into highway 4. let's move over to the bay bridge toll plaza. the maze to downtown westbound will take you about 25 minutes. that traffic is backed up through the maze already and also the san mateyo bridge commute from hayward to foster city, a heavy 28 minute drive into the peninsula and into the antioch pittsburgh area the highway 4 commute slowing down. hillcrest avenue highway 242 westbound will take you 25

everyone could get hit with rain showers. if are much of the day today it will remain clear, though. you can see with future-cast. the clouds don't roll in until mid afternoon with rain chances moving in the north bay around sunset to 5:00. then the system will move further south and it will not linger for long. it will mainly be an overnight thing. you know, you can see around 9:00, between 7:00 and 9:00 we are hepatitissing educate to hit much of the bay area -- we are anticipating it to hit much of the bay area then quickly moving out by wednesday morning. the wednesday forecast will not see huge rainfall totals. it will most likely be in the north bay and santa cruz mountain, about half an inch there and much lesson in the south bay. here is what to expect in the weather headlines. mostly clear to start. we are seeing some areas of patchy valley fog. if you are traveling in the north bay, napa, santa rosa right now, something to watch out for. some of that fog is moving around on the roadways. increasing clouds later today.
