good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at the studio headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. well, the dangerous mix of ice, sleerkts and freezing rain that's blanketed parts of the central u.s. is sticking around for another day, and at least four deaths are blamed on the winter weather. ice storm warnings continue this morning in parts of iowa and nebraska. at one point over the weekend, more than 30 million americans were under some form of winter watch or warning. the storm knocked out power to almost 11,000 customers in oklahoma. the ice bent tree limbs and took down power lines. >> it covered up my pickup, covered up our car, covered up the neighbor's van. just been digging ever since. >> the freezing precipitation came in waves, making for hazardous travel in kansas. on interstate 70 in kansas, a semihit the icy road and plowed

decisively. >> the civil rights leader is among a number of democrats who will not attend the inauguration on this friday. and on martin luther king jr. holiday. president-elect trump has canceled plans to visit the museum. he said he'll visit after the inaugurati inauguration. we'll talk with shane spicer about the replacement for the affordable care act. more than 9,000 people are expected to attend the inauguration on friday in washington. a massive operation will be in place. jamie yuccas has the details. >> reporter: the stage is set for president-elect donald trump and vice president-elect mike pence to be sworn in. stand-ins tried to make it look like the real deal with security in place. temporary fences are up around
much of the city and homeland secretary jeh johnson says law enforcement is ready. >> this includes approximately 10,000 people from the department of homeland security and some 12,000 other federal personnel. >> reporter: also making preparations for a million people, don's john. a rented toilet company is making headlines for a cover-up of its name. it's not clear if it's too close to home to the inauguration or they're trying to keep in line. toby keith, three doors down and lee greenwood will headway. however, broadway star jennifer holliday backed out telling her fans one of the reasons she pulled out was a backlash from the lgbt community. the colorado college marching
ba the band from alabama is raising money to join 40 other groups in friday's parade. well, besides those celebrating the inauguration, dozens of other protests are also planned. one is most likely to be saturday's women's march in washington. hundreds of thousands are expected to attend. and president obama says he's ready to leave the white house and the bubble the president is forced to live in. during his last network television interview before he leaves the office he told steve kroft what it takes to do the job. >> thick skin. stamina. there's a greater physical element to do this job than you think, to be able to grind it out. your ability not just mentally and emotionally to say we've got
this. >> the president says he's proud that his basic character and outlook haven't changed in the past eight years. at a one-day mid east peace conference in paris, some 70 countries called on israel and the palestinians to resume working on creating an independent palestinian state. secretary of state john kerry represented the u.s. he warned it's too early to move the embassy from telel avivv as aske borders china. the cargo plane was making a stopover from hong kong to istanbul. in south korea a special prosecutor says he'll seek an arrest warrant for samsung owner lee. he was accused of paying bribes. a south korean court is hearing argument wls to hear last month's vote in parliament to
impeach the president. coming up on the "morning news" now, speaking out. the people of atlanta defend their city in the wake of mr. trump's rant. and "saturday night live" pokes fun at the president's news conference. >> obamacare is a disaster and i actually do have a replacement plan, okay. i have a terrific plan. it's great. it's called the affordable care act. >> that's the same thing as obamacare and if you appeal it, 20 million people will loose their health care. people could die. >> listen, sweetheart. i'm about to be president. we're all going to die. with sugar? oh, no. horrible shape, falling apart, and crime-infested. well, outgoing attorney general loretta lynch tells "usa today" police departments. lynch said she believes the world is watching how we deal with these issues. the "los angeles times" reports that nearly two dozen drug smuggling tunnels have not been filled in on the mexican side. traffickers have reactivated at least six previously discovered tunnels in recent years. mexico says it lacks the money to fill them in with concrete as the u.s. does. well, still to come, presidential stimulus. the financial markets got a bounce after donald trump was elected but will they continue their run after he's sworn in.
