like president trump. meantime, griffin is firing back against the first family. she claims the trumps are trying to ruin her career! veronica de la cruz is here with that. veronica. >> reporter: well, ken, the comedian says she has been receiving death threats and says the president is trying to break her. all because of this photo showing griffin holding a bloody head resembling our president, donald trump. >> regarding the image that i participated in, the apology absolutely stands. i feel horrible. >> reporter: kathy griffin says she is sorry for the controversial video showing her holding a fake bloody head of donald trump. but she also says what's happened in response is unprecedented. >> a sitting president of the united states and his grown children and the first lady are personally, i feel, personally trying to ruin my life forever! >> reporter: griffin claims she received death threats since posting the video to twitter. her attorney says the secret service has also contacted her.

isn't right! >> reporter: celebrities including jim carrey and jamie foxx are saying sometimes comedians have to cross the line. >> thank you. a handful of states have now joined california in committing to uphold the paris climate accord after president trump's decision to leave. kelly o'hara has more from the white house. >> reporter: the white house says it's all about what's really best for the country right now and they said just because the relationship has ended doesn't mean the talking has to stop. >> we have nothing to be apologetic about. reporter: the white house defends president trump's decision to pull out of the paris climate agreement. >> the president made a very courageous decision yesterday in behalf of america. he put america's interests first with respect to environmental agreement and international discussions. >> reporter: the pact involving nearly 200 countries has sworn to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. >> i was elected to represent the citizens of pittsburgh, not paris. >> reporter: some cities across

the u.s. lit up in green in protest. >> how is he ever going to explain to his grandchildren what he did to the air they breathe? >> reporter: secretary of state rex tillerson a proponent of the climate deal says the u.s. will continue to protect the environment. >> i think it's important that everyone recognize that the united states has a terrific record on reducing our own greenhouse gas emissions. >> world leaders were frustrated. >> i spoke to president trump again last night. i made it clear that the uk would want the united states to stay within the paris agreement. >> it takes four years to withdraw from the agreement and some democratic governors and mayors satisfy they will continue to honor the climate deal in their states. and again pruitt says discussions will continue with other countries and maybe someday they may renegotiate the terms of the accord. >> has the administration itself taken an official stance on global warming and climate

change? >> reporter: no. that surprised reporters in that press conference earlier because it's much different than what president trump said on the campaign trail. reporters asked pruitt again and again about the stance of the administration on global warming and climate change and they refused to answer to give a definitive answer at this point in time. from the white house this evening, kelly o'hara, kpix 5. >> thank you. meanwhile, in san francisco today, people upset about the decision held up signs and chanted. outside a federal building at 7th and mission, they say mr. trump is denying scientific facts and putting millions of people at risk. governor jerry brown on his way to china tonight and climate change will be front and center during his trip. just before taking off from sfo, the governor met with the chinese consul-general in san francisco. in beijing, he will meet with chinese officials about china becoming part of california's carbon trading markets. several other states in the u.s. are already taking part in california's cap and trade

system. an australian tourist has died after a fight in san francisco's russian hill neighborhood. investigators say it was about 2 a.m. at the da vinci villa hotel on van ness avenue where an argument turned into a physical fight. the 33-year-old victim was taken to the hospital, where he died. two men were detained. of police are investigating whether or not they were involved. take you live now to santa rosa, where a mural is being dedicated to andy lopez. that's the 13-year-old boy who was shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy back in 2013. lopez was holding a bb gun. the deputy mistook it for an actual firearm and opened fire. the mural shows dancers in bright dresses and portraits of children in the center a four panel painting of andy, hisimage fades in each section. it's near a neighborhood center. investigators ruled that shooting was justified. the pastor of a menlo park

church faces sexual assault charges some involving children. victor gomez leads [ speaking spanish ] church which holds services in another church on the 1300 block of chico street. he was arrested last night and booked into san mateo county jail on six counts of sexual assault. investigators say the victims include adults and children and that most of the crimes happened at church. the parents of a student who was bullied at a san ramon valley high school say media attention helped pressure the district into taking appropriate action. a student admitted to recording another student using the bathroom at san ramon valley high school that student was initially suspended for three days. but ... the victim's parents publicly demanded the school district do more. and today the district said one of the students involved will be transferred. months after a vallejo man was shot and killed by police

his family wants the autopsy report released. kpix 5's jessica flores explains why they have been repeatedly denied. >> reporter: ramos would have been 22 this week. vallejo police shot him at home. what happened is murky and the families says the autopsy could clear things up but the sheriff's office is not releasing the records yet. >> the coroner's report is the one piece of evidence that can refute or prove what the police say happened. right? and the problem in this case is that what the witnesses say happened and what the cops say happened are two very different things. so the family has asked repeatedly for this coroner's reported and have been denied. >> reporter: according to police, ramos is fighting with another man on the home's deck. police say ramos had a knife and officers shot him to event him interest hurting the other man. but the family disputes the police version of events. >> do i ever get to see my brother again? no. the question of the whole situation was whether he had a knife or not. whether he had the knife or not, that still does not give them the right to kill anyone,

it does in the give them the right. >> reporter: solano county sheriff's office says the records are protected because they are part of an ongoing investigation. the county says once vallejo police and the d.a. make their findings, the autopsy will be released. in vallejo, jessica flores, kpix 5. fast acting firefighters were able to save a cat from a house fire in san jose this afternoon. the house was being remodeled. neighbors say they heard a pop as a fire broke out but there's no word on what the noise was. the house appears to be a total loss. neighbors are helping the home owner find a place to stay. fresh off their game one win the warriors took their star power off the court today. >> coming up, how they brightened up the day for a big group of young fans. >> plus, a new attraction at the oakland zoo but it's not a new animal exhibit. we take you high above to check out the new way to get around. >> and remembering a pioneer in the surfing world. a look back at the life of jack o'neil, the maker of o'neil wet

fresh a phenomenal game one win at oracle the golden state warriors drew a crowd at an oakland school today. kpix 5's da lin here to tell us all about the nba cares event that left one lucky student pretty stunned. da. >> reporter: that's right. the nba and the warriors spent the last few weeks renovating facilities at westlake middle school including this dance room they have. a new sound system now, new mirrors and paint. but one student got something even cooler. >> i am pumped up really pumped up. reporter: this 7th grader says it's a dream come true. he watched the game on tv last night.

>> i saw kd cross over lebron. >> what do you think about that? >> it was funny cuz everybody thinks lebron james is better than kd but to me kd is better than lebron. >> reporter: today he met players. we talked to him before he was randomly picked to answer a question by the warriors general manager. he named all the players at today's event and their jersey numbers to win a pair of tickets to sunday's game 2. >> who are you going to go to the game with? >> grandpa. >> that's great, awesome. >> part of getting the tickets is you have to introduce zaza pachycholia for me. >> as y'all would stand up and clap for the man that got the bali dance moves so well. give it up for zaza pachulia! >> whoo! switzerland or austria. but we're not. we're above the oakland zoo. and today was a big day for the zoo. oakland dignitaries doing their best trying to cut the ribbon opening the new gondola here at the oakland zoo. >> whoo! [ applause ] >> reporter: finally open after years of planning, fundraising and construction, it's an alpine quality custom made swiss gondola system. usually done at ski resorts in the swiss alps. instead of an urban zoo. >> the engineering is done. >> reporter: the $8 million gondola system is part of a nearly completed $72 million expansion project located in the hills above the existing zoo. >> the zoo says it will hold 750,000 visitors a year. >> reporter: there's a brand- new restaurant on top with views of 7 counties. >> even though we might come from the roughest part of oakland there's so much beauty

and culture that thrives in oakland and there's parts that are so gorgeous and so beautiful. >> reporter: the mayor says the zoo has a special place in her heart, too. >> when i was in high school i spent a whole summer interning here. i got to do fun things like feed the baby llama its bottle every day and then do some not so fun things like clean up after the ocelot cage. >> reporter: with this expansion the oakland zoo swells from 45 to over 100 acres making it equal in size to the san diego zoo. > here we go. >> reporter: so we're here just now arriving at the bottom part. at california state university long beach rode some jet skis throughout to get closer to the creatures goal is to tag the sharks for research. researchers say the tags will help them study the sharks' movement and their behaviors. jack o'neill you probably heard if you lived in the bay area for a while. the wet suit by near who built a surf shop empire died. the eye patch-wearing surfer started his business in san francisco. the 1950s. o'neill opened up his first surf shop right out near ocean beach. then in 1959 he moved to santa cruz. his innovative wet suits gave surfers the ability to suffer year round be in our northern california cold water. well, no word yet on what caused his death. jack o'neill was 94 years old. traffic alert for you this weekend. bart is closing an east bay station to test trains for the silicon valley extension project. the warm springs south fremont station will be closed tomorrow and sunday. but there will be a free bus

bridge to fremont. bart says passengers who use it should add 20 to 30 minutes to their travel times. chopper 5 over the comic- con of comedy. that's hitting san francisco this weekend. they have been setting up for cluster fest at the civic center all day. it's a comedy music festival and some of the funniest people in the business will be there including kevin hart and jerry seinfeld. they even brought jerry's new york apartment out for the fest. but those names are just the draw. there will also be a lot of new names. >> we really take great care to cure this festival to make it really reflective of the comedy landscape today. you'll see a bunch of different acts. >> the festival is through sunday night. find the full schedule and other details on cbssf.com. hello, newman! we have warmer weather outside

[ laughter ] >> it's warmer outside and near average through the weekend. it's going to be very, very comfortable outside. actually it will be cooler tomorrow compared to today. today we got the warmup a day early. it is close to 90 right now in concord. in the 80s in livermore and santa rosa. 70s in san jose. and comfortable in the 60s in oakland and san francisco. baseball the washington nationals had the boxing match earlier in the giants last week. now they are taking on our oakland a's. 7:05 first pitch. mainly clear skies great night for baseball in oakland, 65 degrees for that first pitch. in oakland tonight, and tomorrow morning, mid-50s. san jose 54. napa 51. san francisco 52 degrees. so many things to do this weekend, so many options. one of them is the goodguys car show in pleasanton. sunshine, pleasant weather, upper 70s to low 80s coming up tomorrow. we have clouds rotating around a ridge of high pressure. notice there's only one batch

of clouds in the entire eastern pacific right there. the ridge of high pressure will still dominate our weather for the weekend. don't worry about precipitation. watch what futurecast does with that cloud cover. when you wake up tomorrow morning we're talking about how nice and beautiful it's going to you're going to say what? it's cloudy outside! that's that batch of cloud cover in and out quickly by 10 a.m. tomorrow. sunshine in the afternoon and sunshine for most of the coastline the san mateo coast may be the exception around pacifica and half moon bay. sunday, not much fog. no cloud cover passing overhead. and sunday will also be a mainly sunny afternoon with temperatures running a little cooler than today. the reason why today we had a north wind which dried us out less of an ocean influence. over the weekend two low pressure areas passing by to the northwest to east very normal and average flow will cut into the heat a little bit and tomorrow 5 degrees cooler than today but for some of you inland that's a good thing as it got warm. so comfortable with not as warm weather compared to today. saturday with that morning cloud cover lots of sunshine in the afternoon. we will warm up again on monday
