earlier crash on the north side. that's cleared before the robin williams tunnel. it is a "slow, stop, go" ride for drivers headed across westbound 237. first reports of a crash -- excuse me, that's clearing. speeds are just below the limit on that stretch. 680 at north main street taillights southbound making their way over towards highway 24. not too bad. a little crowded. a little sluggish along that stretch. that's a check of your traffic back to you. >> we are looking at some fog this morning on the golden gate bridge. we have clouds inland as well but it should burn off and mix out into the afternoon hours. plenty of sunshine for pretty much everyone today. temperatures right now in the -- hovering near 60 for most spots. 56 san francisco. 57 at this hour in santa rosa. futurecast shows the clouds pulling back and dissipating later today. sunshine for most locations by this afternoon and certainly by
the time you head home for the evening commute. temperatures do stay cool. struggling to reach 70 later today. we'll talk more about that coming up in just a bit. in the meantime, back to you guys. thank you, julie. this morning, president trump is responding to former fired fbi director james comey explosive testimony. comey addressed some of the interactions he he had with president trump and his administration. anne makovec reports. >> reporter: a lot of people are surprised that it took this long for the president to tweet: candidly for almost three hours yesterday...ac g president trump and his >> reporter: the fired fbi director james comey spoke candidly for almost 3 hours yesterday accusing president trump and his administration of defamation and lies, speaking before the senate intelligence committee. comey said he began keeping memos on his inappropriate interactions with the president
including one when comey says the president encouraged him to end the investigation into former national security advisor michael flynn. comey took it as an order. >> it is the president of the united states with me alone saying i hope this. i took it as this is what he wanted me to do. i didn't obey that but that's the way i took it. >> you may have taken it's direction but that's not what he said? >> correct. >> reporter: comey admitted he later asked a friend and professor at columbia university to leak the contents of the memo. the president says comey's actions should be investigated. >> reporter: what i thought was really interesting is that we started off with these hearings by him directly and specifically calling the sitting president of united states a liar. and then we heard that repeated throughout his testimony. and why he thought the president was a liar and what he allegedly lied about. >> reporter: there are sure to be further hearings on capitol hill. nancy pelosi weighed in on twitter righting: sion to follow the facts

parties to command a majority. >> at this time, more than anything else, this country needs a period of stability. >> the change in british leader could change the country's relations with the united states. she has been outspoken cricket of the president. golden state warriors are on the verge of history playing the cavaliers in cleveland. if they win, they will finish the season with a perfect play- off record. kpix 5's jackie ward is live at oracle arena in oakland where another watch party will be taking place. jackie, i know we don't want to jinx it but don't get the broom out yet but we're hoping. >> reporter: i am so superstitious. this is just killing me, michelle! you're killing me saying that perfect word. i can't deal with it. anyway, "dub nation," we know how loyal we are, right? they are so loyal though that they are going to be here
tonight at oracle arena. they don't care where the game is being played. they want to make sure that they are a part of this atmosphere. you know, it worked for game three so we are heaping it will work for game 4. tickets for tonight's watch party went on sale earlier this week for $20 each. and they went fast with tickets for tonight's game selling out before game 3 was even played. for fans who don't want to or can't make the trek to ohio a watch party at oracle is a great option they say. kpix 5 report christin ayers was here for game 3 and spoke to who drove three hours to watch the game at the arena. >> i drove three hours from fresno to come to the watch party. >> this is the fourth watch party. >> reporter: llove the enthusiasm. doors to the arena open at 5:00. parking at 4:30 costs 10 bucks. part of the proceeds will be donated to two community foundations.
so you still might be able to find some tickets on resale sites even though this is a sold-out event. i went online earlier this morning and i found courtside seats for $290 each. live from oracle arena, jackie ward, kpix 5. >> if i know jackie she thought about snapping them up. today governor brown heads to san francisco to renew the fight against climate change. jessica flores is live in san francisco this morning with the details. >> reporter: good morning. well, governor brown just got back from china. he spent five days there doubling down on his efforts to fight climate change. and now today he is meeting with the german minister of the environment. it's part of a pact that he has with the german government under the two coalition, that's a pact between governments to reduce emissions. the governor tells foreign leaders the u.s. may be out of the paris climate accord but california is still in. now, the details of brown's
agreement with china are still unclear but it was a symbolic trip making california the substitute partner on environmental issues. >> the world to the paris climate accord has made the commitment to make the turn to a decarbonized future. good. we're for that. now, maybe some people in washington aren't so sure about that. but california is sure. >> reporter: with 18 months left on the job, brown is making climate change one of his final acts in office. now, the meeting today with the german minister happens this morning. it will be private. but then they will come out and speak to the media about what they discussed. we'll be there and bring you the latest at noon. reporting live in san francisco, i'm jessica flores, kpix 5. just a few hours we expect to learn more about one of the suspects involved in the ghost ship warehouse fire. the attorneys for derick almena are holding a news conference to discuss how they plan to
fight the case. he facing 36 counsels of involuntary manslaughter, one count for each of the victims, 36 counts. police also arrested max harris. prosecutors say the defendants lied to police and fire departments about dangerous conditions at the converted warehouse. both men are due back in court next thursday. and that's when they may enter pleas. a woman accused of stopping her car on san francisco's great highway and abandoning her 5-year-old daughter is due in court today. 22-year-old samantha patton allegedly pulled over near the zoo monday night and made the 5- year-old girl get out of the car. authorities said she then left with the baby in the back seat. an ambulance happened to be in the area. medics rushed to treat the little girl. a man seen leaving the intersection on a skateboard was identified at father of the 1-year-old in the car. he helped police track down that child. patton faces a felony charge of child endangerment. today jurors in the sexual assault trial of bill cosby

♪ good morning. welcome back. time now 6:14. a cloudy start to our day. here's live look at sfo. gray skies are going to clear up. it doesn't mean temperatures will warm up. details coming up. san rafael's mayor says he plans to join mayors across the nation in expressing solidarity with the paris climate accord. despite president trump's decision to pull out of the accord. the mayor decided to go deep green this week. the initiative will add money to next year's city budget to buy 100% renewable energy. he said he was inspired by public comments in favor of the move. richmond city council is unanimously backing a bill that essentially creates a marijuana sanctuary state. stand local authorities nt
from using their resources to help federal investigators track down or arrest people for marijuana-relate activity approved under california law. bart fruitvale the weekend and a heads up. you might want to give yourself a lot of extra time if you are taking bart through the fruitvale area over the weekend. tomorrow and sunday there will be no service between fruitvale and lake merritt because crews are work on the tracks. you can catch a free shuttle bus during the closure. but riders should expect 20 to 40-minute delays especially for service to oakland airport. >> delayed again. >> and pay more for it, please. 61 san jose. we are at 57 right now in santa rosa. throughout the day you will notice clear skies. this area of low pressure sitting offshore the front passed through. we have cooler air mass in place and another shot of showers for some folks in the north bay for the weekend. futurecast today though showing clearing skies through midday and beyond. everyone should see some sunshine later today. doesn't mean temperatures are warming though. we still have that cool air mass in place. and they are going to cool even more as that area of low pressure passes north this weekend. we'll see increasing cloud cover saturday. increasing shower chances for the north bay on sunday. and temperatures dropping both days struggling to hit 70 degrees for the warmest spots inland. for today, sunrise was at 5:4724 morning. sunset this evening at 8:30. by sunset we should have clear silence so should be a beautiful one if you can head to the coast and watch the sunset today as we should have clear skies.
70s in the warmer spots inland topping out in the mid-70s. looking for something to do tonight? head to the giants game. temperatures will be cool, 60 and low clouds tonight. this weekend likely cool as well for the hot air balloon classic. warming up though to near 70 in windsor. partly cloudy skies. livermore rodeo mild and 70. haight-ashbury street fair cooler still in san francisco on sunday with a mixture of sun and clouds. a little damp feel for ya for the first half of the day. and then maybe getting some breaks with some sun later on for the second half of the day sunday. extended forecast shows a big transition. so today, sunshine, but cool temperatures. as much as 10 degrees below average for this time of the
year. this weekend cooler still struggling to hit 70 degrees saturday and sunday with increasing cloud cover. and a chance of showers for the north bay. monday more sunshine temperatures rebound. 80 by tuesday for the warmest spots inland. by the end of the week warming back up into the mid- to upper 80s for the warmest spots inland. and we'll see 70s by the bay and 60s at the coast. but today again on the cool side. cooler still for all those weekend plans. michele? > julie, thank you. now in our tech news, verizon is a step closer to buying yahoo. this comes after yahoo shareholders voted to approve the nearly $4.5 billion sale. yahoo has been struggling in its fight to stay relevant and it was hit with a huge data breach last year. yahoo expects the sale to close next week. tesla is giving people a peek at its upcoming compact suv. the model y. elon musk's company unveiled this photo during a recent shareholder

traffic. >> we are tracking a big rig blocking two lanes along northbound 101 in san jose. it's right as you approach 680. expect slowdowns on that stretch. you can see speeds drop just below 30 miles per hour. and it's starting to get a little slow along the eastshore freeway although our travel times still showing green. 20 minutes to the foot of the maze. it's 23 minutes into downtown san francisco. here's a look at your ride as you make your way across that span there. sluggish on 880. i know why you say "the" in front of the freeways. you lived in the southland. >> i grew up here. i asked my dad why do i say the 880? do we say that up there? he said that's something you pick up on your own. >> we have a lot of questions about brian hackney. >> there are still a lot of unanswered questions after james comey's bombshell
testimony yesterday. he appeared before a senate committee yesterday and claimed president trump lied. anne makovec tells us how the president is responding. >> reporter: he took to twitter. a lot of people thought he would treat live during the testimony yesterday. he tweeted this morning instead. >> reporter: james comey's testimony yesterday a combination of months of swirling questions about his firing, the russia investigation and whether president trump urged comfortable to end a probe into michael flynn. comey claims that russia did meddle in the 2016 election and feld the president wanted him to end the investigation into former national security advisor michael flynn. comey took that as an order. comey also said president trump was dishonest when it came to the reason that comey himself was firedhe said he promised honesty on . i was also confused by the initial public explanation that i was fired because of the decisions i had made during the election year.
>> reporter: our legal analyst says comey's testimony leaves a lot of open questions when it comes to possible obstruction of justice. >> is there evidence? can you make conclusive statements was the investigation interfered with? you saw comey dancing around a lot of those questions and not giving direct answers. that's going to be left to the hearings and presented as "evidence" and left to the parties to interpret for themselves. >> reporter: the tone and tenor of the questions vary greatly between republicans and democrats. president trump is going to have a joint news conference with the president of romania. >> many republicans are defending president trump. he is a washington outsider and doesn't know the proper communication between an fbi director and the president. we'll see what happens. james comey's testimony picked out a administrators.
>> reporter: questions about attorney general jeff sessions who recused himself from ongoing russia investigations back in march and comey also talked about former attorney general loretta lynch saying she asked him to call the probe into hillary clinton's emails a matter, not an investigation. >> all right. anne, thank you. authorities are offering up to $100,000 if you can identify a person suspected of setting an emeryville fire that burned a 7-story housing complex to the ground. the person was seen riding a bicycle up to the development on san pablo avenue before entering the half finished building with a backpack last month. the $35 million project burst into flames. it was the second fire there in less than a year. the same site saw flames last july. authorities suspect arson in the two cases. it's unclear if the same person did it. anyone with information can
earn a reward for $100,000 at the atf hotline 888-atf-fire. tonight a fundraiser will benefit this paralyzed cal rugby player as he recovers. 100% of the proceeds goes toensuring robert paylor's rehabilitation. tonight's event will feature food, drinks and a live performance by a led zeppelin tribute band. tickets $150. his coach is calling the play that led to his injuries, quote, an illegal foul! coach jack clark says end goal video makes it clear his remarks have sparked a usa rugby investigation. the warriors are going for a perfect play-off record. they are in cleveland tonight to take on the cavaliers in game 4 of the nba finals. ward will jackie ward reports from the watch party at oracle arena. >> reporter: a lot of people get to go inside oracle arena to watch the finals tonight. the fans we spoke to said that
this is the next best thing to being in cleveland. the warriors organization did this for game three. they opened up the doors and sold tickets for $20. while the players were there in cardboard cutout form only fans said they came to be part of the atmosphere. >> a lot of fans can't afford the game so this is a reasonable price and have a great time with the family. >> reporter: he some people at oracle arena may forget that the actual players won't be running up and down the court in front of them here because the warriors bring out the dancers, the fireworks as if our guys were home. merchandise and food booths will be open, too. parking is $10 cheaper than a real game. life from oracle arena, jackie ward, kpix 5. >> there are other big watch parties going on, too? > >> thunder?

reaching a new milestone. its import volume reached a two- year high. they handled more than 82,000 of those container ships this year up a percent from 2016. the overall volume of imports increased more than 2%. i guess that's good news so far this year. the port will head now into the busy summer season. google is speaking out about the warm welcome it's getting from san jose city council members as the tech giant works to build a massive campus in the city. google is having discussions with city officials about constructing six million square feet of office and research space near the s.a.p. center and diridon station. in a statement the company said, we are excited to have the support of the san jose city council as we evaluate options at diridon station. sirius/xm is investing in internet radio and is the sun setting on the solar energy boom? >> we'll find out from kcbs radio's financial reporter
jason brooks. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. sirius/xm is taking a $480 million investment in oakland- based pandora. as part of the deal, sirius will also get three board seats with pandora, including the chairman role. now, there have been reports that sirius was trying to buy pandora. cnbc this morning saying that sirius offered $8 a share for pandora but that was under the stock price. pandora said no. investors liked t shares of pandora up over 3% in the early going. investors liked that. solar installations have been on the boom in the u.s. the past couple of years. but the solar industry's energy association says that in 2017, demand will fall by 16%. a big reason for that is that utilities are lowering their demand. utilities make up half of the solar energy market. residential installations will grow by another 2% but that's a big slowdown from last year, when residential solar installations were up by 19%. the stock market off to a good start this morning. let's go to the big board and

[ laughter ] >> back to you. five days, julie. that's it. all right. thanks so much. mill valley officials are moving forward with a $375,000 project to study the city's storm drainage and flood control systems. they are trying to reduce the flood risk in town. the city already has $265,000 in its budget to get the ball rolling. the project will include the formation of a flood task force, community outreach and an analysis of the existing flood control systems and improvements that could be considered. well, let's continue this plouffeial theme. there is a setback on the repairs at oroville dam. lawmakers are denying funding to repair levees in the area. democrats are trying to get money from the state budget but the levees were damaged when the dam overflowed. if it isn't fixed the levees may not work probably in flood
