"got this blanket and it's amazing." "it has been very

nearly 1 in 4 shoppers wait late into the holiday season to finish their shopping this year. "picking up last minute items."how many last minute items have you gotten so far? "i have three, i have three more to get."the national retail federation says the average holiday shopper completed about 50% of their shopping by the second week of december. and about one third of those shoppers bought their holiday gifts this last week. "we got a lot of stuff. we're going to see santa today. retail experts say, jewelry, clothing, and shoes are among the products with the deepest discounts compared to last year.and the national retail federation says, sales could increase by 3.7% this holiday season compared to last year. "and we're looking for dresses for our winter formal and stuff. so it's like great to come here around christmas and find things.""a lot of people out here. i enjoy seeing the kids.""i just wish everybody

remember the reason for the season.""and shoppers are expected to spend approximately $463.00 for their families and friends." reporting at the southern hills mall, i'm jetske wauran, siouxland news. 3 the southern hills mall will be closed tomorrow...except for the theater. it'll re-open for post-christmas shopping and returns saturday morning. 3 3 the sounds of the season filled the orpheum theater this christmas eve.3 "......."a packed house of about 26 - hundred people enjoyed the music and service held by sunnybrook community church at 6'oclock tonight. despite recently opening a new auditorium at the church... so many people want to attend this service it's been held at the orpheum for a number of years. 3 "the goal is our gift to the community. to come down to the orpheum, have a number of people come, enjoy the service with us and who may not be in

to utilize the orpheum, such a great facility, to share the christmas story with people and the love of jesus is a great opportunity."a total of nearly 6-thousand people attended the three services...one service held at 2 and at 4 this afternoon. 3 parts of siouxland are looking at a white christmas after all... thanks to a snowy start to christmas eve.while sioux city only saw about an inch of snow this morning... most of which quickly melted... areas south of highway 20 saw between 2 and 4 inches... making travel treacherous. more than a dozen accidents were reported in the sioux city metro alone this morning... and it was even worse in the des moines and omaha areas, which saw nearly half a foot of snow. a strech of i- 80 between omaha and des moines was even briefly closed... as well as a stretch of i-35 in central iowa... though both are now open to traffic again. 3 3 christmas eve calls for chilly and mostly cloudy conditions with temperatures in the mid

suicide.the bodies of 37- year- old josh klinetobe (kline-tobe) of tilden and his 37- year- old wife bobbi jo of meadow grove were found monday afternoon in a burning pickup in a field nine miles northwest of pierce.investigators believe josh klinetobe killed his wife before taking his own life and setting the pickup on fire.a fund for the couple's seven children has been set up at the tilden state bank.and a gofundme page is also accepting donations. it currently has a total 75- hundred dollars.if you'd like to contribute... we've listed that information on our website at siouxland news dot com. 3 3 investigators also releasing the names of two people killed in a two- car accident near newell iowa yesterday afternoon.the buena vista county sheriff's office says 19- year- old juan lopez and 46- year- old maria gaitan, both of fonda, were pronounced dead at the scene of that crash near the racoon river bridge on highway 7.the driver of the other vehicle and a 7- year- old child were taken to buena vista regional medical center in storm lake for treatment of

injuries.the cause of that crash is still under investigation. 3 every month morningside college and siouxland news are teaming up to highlight a high school student who has gone above and beyond.our jetske wauran introduces us to this month's winner at spirit lake high school. 3 for 12th, grader jacob vos, school is second nature. 3 we're tracking the latest developments tonight in the war on terror... as *china* is beefing up security over terror concerns. jonathan elias has the latest developments in tonight's terrorism alert desk update. 3 from the terror alert desk in washington, i'm jonathan elias. a belgian man is under arrest in connection with the deadly paris attack.belgian prosecutors say "abdoullah c." was arrested tuesday.he's the ninth person to be arrested.

siouxland... but celebrations are already underway around the world.that includes bethlehem... jesus' birthplace. the church of the nativity in manger square held its traditional midnight mass... but attendance was somewhat down this year, with fewer western tourists making the pilgrimage to the west bank. palestinian president mahmoud abbas led the procession into the church... while bands played and images of bethlehem were projected onto walls outside. 3 christians also gathering at saint peter's basilica in rome for pope francis' traditional christmas vigil mass.pope francis' homily focused on the theme of love and mercy.he called on followers of jesus-- who is believed to have been born into poverty--to reject extravagance and wealth.he encouraged people to live simply with compassion. tomorrow... the pope will deliver his traditional christmas address to st.
