sites from three vantage points as were watching the weather this morning. the bay bridge were fog advisory was issued overnight and down on the bottom right of the screen the san mateo bridge. jacqueline bennett ties it all together. >> >> another chilly start with temperatures widespread in the 30's now they're climbing into the '40's, dense fog and drizzle also remaining in our inland valleys out there this morning. that will continue until released early afternoon, by noon thing show clear will deal with partly cloudy skies but temperatures struggling to warm up. were getting a transport of cold air from the central valley into the bay area. that will continue through most of today but by the afternoon, cut off a little bit. still chilly at 3:00 with temperatures half in the '40's and half of the low 50s. we have changes heading into tomorrow, all have details on that plus rain next week coming up in just a bit. >> an earthquake in the south bay rattling nerves

across the bay area this is what the seismograph look like just moments after the quake hit near san as a friday afternoon during rush hour. it is a 4:00 p.m. 4.1 quake could be felt as far as the east bay in san francisco. was centered in the henry coe state park between highways 5 and 1 01. seismologists say the calaveras fault and run deep, no major injuries or damage was recorded. it did get people's attention kron 4 da lin talk to people who felt the shape. >> a lot of people in san jose felt the earthquake the epicenter is about 30 mi. southeast of city hall which is right behind me. even though was not a major earthquake city officials say it was enough to cause as 18 story building to sway. here's some people described the quake. >> a big jolt at every stop it there were doing the kind of looked at each other was that may or did everyone else feel that. as we were waiting to see if we felt anything else we kind of had

back on kron 4 news weekend, a live look outside the bay bridge approach. it's a cool and foggy morning with ties rate now only 43 degrees and expected to go up to 52 later today. >> the carbon monoxide leak pass sentence for gas have been traced to a restaurant. fire officials say they found of leaking water

heater yesterday at the amber india restaurant. they noticed a strange looking pipe in the building crews later found out carbon monoxide was leaking into a shaft between walls and the marriott marquee hotel. normal co2 readings are about 25 parts per million by readings in the hotel where well over to and from 50 parts per million. the gas line has been shut off until officials can conduct a full and investigation and repair the damage. >> for forty-niner fans mike singletary is old news, jim harbaugh is the new kid in town. stafford's and new head coach is moving to the nfl to the niners. certainly good check. >> that's for sure if forecast had a live look at san jose 38 degrees right now the little less foggy than the center of the bay around san francisco.

we are going to sneak a peek out side on this foggy saturday morning. beautiful view from mount tam with the sun rise. >> this check in with jacqueline bennett with a full check of what their. >> another chilly day around the bay with temperatures in the '40's in london low 50s to the rest of the bay area. slight warming as we head into tomorrow were expecting west baltimore sun into the afternoon. will get to that a moment. we've been seeing an influx of fog and really cold air from the central valley which is typical for this time of year there. we'll winds coming from the east that are pulling all of this since the bay area. you can see the fog extensive in to the north bay we've seen it over the past several days. the cold and fog carries into the bay area this morning, bringing in dense fog and drizzle or inland valleys and the delta. temperatures this afternoon will range from 46 to 54 warmer closer to the coast and down in the south bay. we will see this pattern break up though,

which responsible for it is a storm sitting down to the south. it is bringing us the easterly winds, the ones moving in the direction you see here of the arrows. this will push to the northeast and that will help break up at fog and bringing us clear skies into tomorrow. as for the fog and backtracking a little bit this morning, we did see fog closer to the coast and the delta, it's when a brick up by the afternoon. up by new mostly clear skies to o'clock some lingering fog in the san mateo coastline but will see mostly sunny conditions. temperatures as morning started out in the 30's. as we head into the afternoon temperatures will struggle to warm, you will notice by 4:00 p.m. or leasing the '40's 42 fairfield, 45 and napa, 48 novato. this is for the north bay, delta and inland valleys barely reaching 50 in livermore. 52 in palo alto, 53 in san jose. in the evening

blue cross of california is proposing a third rate hike and a couple of months. that would leave california is paying as much as 59% more for health insurance compared to a year ago. state insurance commissioner dave jones along with u.s. health secretary kathleen, are working to try and stop the insurance rate hike. jones's last blue shield to delay the fight for 60 days. he admits he's powerless to stop it. >> unfortunately, under california law i don't have the ability to inject excessive rate hikes. if offered legislature to the commission authority to eject premium hike. if the premium hike is another example of why any that authority. >> for now jones only recourse is to find a

live from the bay area's new station this is the kron 4 morning news. the morning welcome back its 730 a m a live look outside quick beautiful from our mount tam cam. are going to check in with jacqueline bennett she as a check of this weekend weather. it's going to be a little chillier today. >another chilly start with temperatures widespread in the 30's, now there climbing into the 40's. dense fog and drizzle also remaining in our inland valleys out there this morning. that will continue until released this afternoon. by noon things should clear we'll deal with partly cloudy skies but temperatures struggling to warm up. were getting a transport of cold air from the central valley into the bay area. that will continue through most of today, but by the afternoon,

cut off a little bit. still chilly at 3:00 with temperatures half in the 40's and half in the low 50's. we have changes heading into tomorrow. i'll have the details on that, plus rain next week, coming up in just a bit. >> the key jacqueline in san francisco carbon monoxide leak that sent for telecast to the hospital thursday has been traced to a nearby restaurant. fire officials say the potentially deadly gas was leaking into a shaft between the walls of the marriott marquee hotel. an investigation is underway but as kron 4 kate thompson explains, this may not be the first instance of gas poisoned by carbon monoxide. >> the fire department said the carbon monoxide problems coming from this alloway which runs along the marriott marquee. this is a hotel here, with the fire department said was happening is that the air intake vent which run along the side of the hotel were actually picking up fumes carbon monoxide fumes from a faulty water heater from

this building. funneling those fumes up through the hotel and into people's rooms. thursday night may not in the first carbon monoxide poisoning. the fire department responded to the same to hotel rooms just two days ago. those guests also suffered a similar flow like symptoms. it wasn't until paramedics tested the blood of thursday's victim they discovered it wasn't a fluke but found high levels of carbon monoxide in their blood and in the air of the four guest rooms on the fourth floor. the hotel has been tested in the department of health has inspected and cleared the affected rooms. reporting from san francisco kate thompson kron 4 news. >> as a month on this may become a common story budget problems in antioch forcing the city to ask for donations to fund and the police department. the city opened a bank account for donations to help pay for services. the city is seeking donations from corporations and large businesses in the rioja.

earlier six officers who were said to be laid off will keep their jobs until the end of the month thanks to these private donations. right now antioch is seeking concessions from the police unit. >> good news on the cheap jobs front. the unemployment rate has dropped from 9.4% that's the lowest in 90 months. employers added 190,000 jobs in december but the rate has remained at more than 9 percent for nearly two years now. as christine conley reports the numbers alone don't tell the whole story. >> >> and your could tell draws a huge crowd when it advertises 250 job openings. the president toured the plant in maryland and talks about the new figures from the labor department. >> the trend is clear, we saw this tall straight months of private sector job growth. >> december unemployment rate was 9.4 percent down from 9.8% in november. it is as deep as one month drop

since 1998 to end the lowest unemployment rate in 19 months. that doesn't mean their budget and new jobs out there, employers reported they treated only about 103,000 positions, that's not nearly enough to make up for what the president calls the worst recession of our lifetime. the lower unemployment figure was a result of two roughly equal factors. to hundred 97,000 people reported finding jobs last month, on the other hand 260,000 said they had given up looking. >> this of a bunch of folks out there looking, still looking with a big hole with to dig ourselves out of. >> it could take two years to the jobless numbers down to 8% and possibly another three years to reach what is considered a normal level of unemployment and that 6 percent. >> also in washington the new republican majority in house getting down to business with the president's health care

there's the the other male attack this time in washington d.c.. officials say a package ignited at a postal facility yesterday. it was addressed a homeland security secretary janet. the postal building was evacuated, no injuries were reported. it happened one day after fiery packages were sent to maryland's

typical for this time of year there. we'll winds coming from the east that are pulling all of this to the bay area. you can see fog extensive into the north bay, we've seen it over the past several days. the cold air and fog carries into the bay area this morning, bringing in dense fog and drizzle into our inland valleys and delta. temperatures this afternoon will range from 46 to 54, warmer closer to the coast and down in the south bay. we will see this pattern break up though, which responsible for it is a storm sitting down to the south. it is bringing us the easterly winds, the ones moving in the direction you see here of the arrows. this will push to the northeast and that will help break up the fog and bring us clear skies into tomorrow. as for the fog and backtracking a little bit this morning, we did see fog closer to the coast and the delta, it's going to break up by this afternoon. mostly clear skies 2:00 some lingering fog in the san mateo coastline but we'll see mostly sunny conditions.

alongside the marriott marquee. this is a hotel here. with the fire department said was happening is that the air intake vents which run along the side of the hotel, the option of picking up fumes from a faulty water heater from this building. funneling those fumes up through the hotel and into people's rooms. thursday night lineup in the first couple monoxide poisoning, the fire department responded to the scene two hotel rooms just two days ago. those guests also suffered similar flu like symptoms. it wasn't until paramedics tested the blood of thursday's victims that they discovered it wasn't a fluke but that high levels of carbon monoxide in their blood and in the air of the four guest rooms on the fourth floor. the ear of the hotel has been tested in the department of health has inspected and cleared the affected rooms. reporting from san francisco kate thompson kron 4 news. >> more bay area residents being asked to dig in their pocket to support city
