tv   KRON 4 Morning News  KRON  October 19, 2011 7:00am-10:00am PDT

7:00 am
>>mark: this was the scene at 5:00 a.m., a concrete cement truck flipped over on its side with diesel fuel burning. jackie sissel is live on the scene. >>jackie: good morning, you can see a record cruz, chp officers, caltrans officers along with fire officials on southbound 101. i am on sixteenth and san bruno down below the accident scene. southbound 101 is completely shut down. this happens around 5:00 a.m.. a couple
7:01 am
of minutes ago they pulled out a second vehicle that had been hit. at least three people have been injured. one possibly in critical condition. the fighter has shut down the freeway. ha >>mark: 101 has been shut down for two hours and the southbound direction. let's go to darya and george in the traffic center. >>george: we are only able to see one of these trailers, there is another trailers sitting right here out of our view, behind the cab of the truck. normally,
7:02 am
they tried to put one drug on each side. that way it does not tip in the opposite direction. if ts cement haulers were loaded, you are talking about a different animal, very heavy. getting them right it is the challenge. the other determination is, is there damage to the roadway? >>darya: the best thing that you can do is not take the bay bridge. if you are trying to get from the east bay into san francisco or down the peninsula, tell us what to do. >>george: use the 280 extension to get out of this city. that is looking fine. and this is creating huge
7:03 am
problems. it is a visual hazard. do not get on the and down the central freeway. these on rents are shut down, so is the octavia street expressway. use interstate to 80 or head down city streets in san francisco and get on 101 at army cesar chavez. that has put a lot of pressure on the potrero, that is down in front of san francisco general. >>darya: it is a bar day. >>george: but you can head south and use the san mateo bridge as an alternate. these sensors, they are 25 mi. per hour traffic. this is the island. this is where things are grinding to a halt. here is the traffic in
7:04 am
god and here is the traffic exiting. the signal light is so short, they can barely get through. >>will: headlights are still backed up. i spoke with a driver and asked, how quickly did you get to this location. she said from harrison to hear was about 10 minutes. frustration starting to build up. people are trying to avoid the upper deck. it is a bumper to bumper and at times it is basically free parking on the bridge. we saw a little bit of wiggle room earlier. right now traffic is not moving. city streets are backed up including harrison. normally people would hop on to the fourth st. on ramp onto the bridge. that is being shut down
7:05 am
authorities are down there making sure people do not hot on to the on ramps. this light is maybe 30 seconds or so. >>george: you are able to get on to the eastbound bay bridge to you cannot get on to the skyway westbound which is the continuation of the upper deck. that leads to 101 southbound and 101 southbound is completely shut down. this is the closure with the chp is in place. the incident itself is a few yards down this is what they are contending with. as operations
7:06 am
continue and it right this tanker they will be making the determination about whether or not the roadway was damaged and how soon they will be able to get things out of here. we should mention that they have managed to clear some of the other vehicles. we were tracking another hot spot this morning. erica has a better news about that. >>erica: northbound 101 at cesar chavez, an injury accident involving a big rig and a bus. reports of minor swelling right now. as we take things over to the traffic maps, a big rig reverses a motorcycle. that accident has been cleared to the center divider. the damage has already been done. speeds are crawling in
7:07 am
the single digits. this is traffic coming out of albany towards berkeley. you concede requite in the distance. i recalculated the drive time. usually 19 minutes from hercules to the east shore freeway, it is now running at about 40 minutes. add extra time to your usual dry. on the bridge, here is a look at the bay bridge heavy and slow with traffic's low we do not recommend that this at all. we recommend using the san mateo bridge as an alternate. why the drive time is under 20 minutes from end to end. there are no accidents to tell you about. as we take you to the golden gate bridge, southbound 101 we are still seeing a lot of space between cars. there is still no red or yellow on our traffic maps. the time is 7
7:08 am
07, james fletcher is here with a look at the forecast. >>james: as we take a look at where temperatures should go this afternoon, oakland, 73, san jose, 75, in downtown san francisco, 67. here is a brief look at your 7 day forecast. things will warm up as we had to the weekend. the kron 4 news will return in just a minute. of f and
7:09 am
7:10 am
7:11 am
>>george: here is a live look at 101 southbound ride at the north end hospital curve in front of the ups building. this is the reason for the big backup, southbound 101 it is shut down. this is a part of a set of doubles but overturned at 5:00 a.m., the cab that was hauling these tanks caught fire and the freeway has been shut down since 5:00 a.m.. traffic is being diverted off the skyway on to city streets. what a mess we have. you will want to use interstate 280 to get out of the city this morning and avoid the bay bridge at all costs. it is stopped from the center a
7:12 am
great leading into san francisco from yerba buena island. the back of on the east shore freeway reaches all the way to pinole valley road. it is a mess. use the golden gate bridge or san mateo bridge as an alternate. >>justine: in south florida, a strong storm pounded the area last night beating a path of destruction. we had video to show you from earlier as well. homes are in a ruined this morning. they are suspected a possible tornado. here is the damage you are looking at. it has not been confirmed what caused this horrible storm to rip through the area. no one has been heard. the violent winds have left more than 2000 people without power.
7:13 am
severe damage in south florida. we are back with more after this.
7:14 am
7:15 am
7:16 am
7:17 am
7:18 am
>>george: to 80 can be accessed from the kings street off of the embarcadero 4 from 6 street. the first point that you can get on is here at army cesar chavez. fifth >>george: and earlier occurring accident on the east shore freeway, things are jammed up trying to get to san francisco. arafat is going to tell you about delays getting into the city northbound and on 80 getting to the bay bridge. >>erica: the earlier accident has been cleared.
7:19 am
there was a motorcycle verses a big rig. drive times are improving. we do not have the camera to show you any more, but i have calculated a drive time. it is under 20 minutes out of hercules to the macarthur maze. it is now cut down to about 35. at the bay bridge incline, traffic is still pretty heavy up the incline and across the upper deck. traffic is virtually stopped on the suspension span. traffic has been how nicely. the drive times are climbing back down 16-70 minutes from end to end. here is a live look at the golden gate bridge southbound 101. a lot of space between cars with no accidents reported in the north bay. 7:19 a.m., james is here with a look at the
7:20 am
forecast. >>james: sunrise was just a few minutes ago. the cloud cover that we see over the bay will prevent the sun from giving us the warmth that we would like to see. our inland valleys will also be mild, across the north bay, low-mid-70s. 70's everywhere around the bay except at the coast. that is where you will see conditions closer to the upper 60s. here is your 7 day around the bay. we are watching weather and waiting for it to warm up. maybe tomorrow we will see temperatures climb
7:21 am
gradually.
7:22 am
7:23 am
7:24 am
>>george: 7:24 a.m.. we have good news, another piece of the puzzle in place as they try to unscramble this mess along the skyway. the
7:25 am
roadways still needs to be cleared. i would not expect to see the roadway reopens much before the end of the broadcast which is at 10:00 a.m.. i would not be at all surprised if the freeway remains shutdown until then. it continues to tie up traffic on the bay bridge westbound. they have not put up any detours but when you get to san francisco, you will be forced off on city streets. i believe i have that shot available. this is a look at fifth street. this is where most of the traffic heading into the scene is
7:26 am
headed. this traffic will exit some time before hospital curve because no traffic is getting through and likely will not be for at least several hours. use the san mateo bridge or golden gate bridge as an alternate. in the newsroom, here is justine waldman. >>justine: we are just getting an update on those exotic animals on the loose and ohio. the latest information into the newsroom, a live press conference from the sheriff who says the owner of these exotic animals killed himself before he let the animals lose. there is an autopsy and they're waiting for the results of the cause of death. it does appear to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. some of the animals on the loose, wolves, lions, bears, these are not normal house pets. these are
7:27 am
dangerous animals that have been kept captive. entire school district have been closed. if you see any of these animals, called police right away. the latest information is that it appears the owners let the animals free and then killed himself. >>darya: 7:27 a.m., we are back with more and a couple of minutes. we have a hot spot ruining the commute this morning. we will be right back.
7:28 am
7:29 am
7:30 am
>>jackie: the tanks have been upgraded. that is good news. now, they're going to have to upright the second one. caltrans engineers will have to investigate and make sure that this flyover of southbound 101, made sure that it is structurally sound and at that point they
7:31 am
will be able to open it up. it does not look like that will happen anytime soon. if you are able to avoid it, avoid it. it is another reminder that this may take a while. >>darya: no matter when they are able to get this done, the damage is done and will last throughout the commute. >>george: this will be closed likely for another two hours. i am hearing around noon-1230. in the managed to get this grade on its wheels and a relatively
7:32 am
short time. it only takes 15-20 minutes. there is another one of these sitting over here. >>darya: you are saying to plan around this. >>george: avoid 101. use interstate 280 to get around the problem this morning. that means getting on from king's street or six street to get down to army cesar
7:33 am
chavez. if you normally use the bay bridge, do not. use the golden gate bridge or san mateo bridge and take 101 northbound or southbound in order to get into the city. those two options will also have problems of their own. we have been tracking other hot spots and delays. let's get the rest of the story from erica. >>erica: we have a new problem in the same general vicinity. there is an accident blocking the third lane from the left. traffic is now crawling past third street. be aware of that this morning. earlier problems on the east shore freeway, the ride is improving. traffic is heavy up the incline and across
7:34 am
the upper deck. we do not recommend using is the bay bridge. instead, the san mateo bridge is looking really good. traffic has returned to a normal 14-50 minutes from end to end across the span. certainly use this friday if you want to cut across the peninsula this morning. on the golden gate bridge we have been a problem free and accident free. according to the chp traffic clogs the there are no major accidents or stalls to report. 7:34 a.m., let's get a check on the weather. >>james: today is going to be the coolest of the next seven. overcast conditions just about everywhere. thursday and friday things look better. the weekend is
7:35 am
shaping up to be fantastic for us. right now temperatures look like this. overcast conditions. taking a look at temperatures this afternoon, in the south bay, 75 on san jose. if you are going to be in downtown san francisco, 67 is a high. a lot of cloud cover out there. we will take a quick break and be back with more than a minute.
7:36 am
7:37 am
7:38 am
7:39 am
>>george: we are continuing to monitor the coverage of the shutdown of 101. there was a 4-5 vehicle accident. the cap caught fire. the fire is extinguished. they are now working to clear the roadway. will tran is live on the scene. does it look like it is getting better? >>will: it does look like it is getting better. at fifth hand harrison, traffic is moving a little bit. it looks like people are not be allowed onto the deck. inseams like at the point of the accident, maybe they are letting some cars go through their, it looks like traffic
7:40 am
is moving although there are still preventing people from hopping onto the freeway westbound 80. there are authorities at fourth and harrison making sure people do not get on to the offramp. this city streets are not too bad. >>george: they are allowing traffic to go on to the central freeway. they will still be forced off of the freeway on to the city streets in san francisco, and they are just moving some of the traffic off in this direction. as you had it westbound into san francisco, here is a look from treasure island. things have fanned out only a little bit on the upper deck west. if you do not want to end up on city streets, do
7:41 am
not use the bay bridge. >>mark: we are continuing to follow this breaking news story. we will check in with gary radnich after the break.
7:42 am
7:43 am
7:44 am
>>darya: good morning gary. everyone is saying that you jackson is making and how they business decision. either this is going to work for the raiders will suffer for the next five years.
7:45 am
>>gary: i would rather roll the dice and keep the momentum going. carson palmer is the best available quarterback out there. would you rather have someone say, they are going for it? that is certainly better than saying we are going to live home with the quarterback we have. >>darya: this says something about you jackson. from what i understand, carson palmer was going nowhere. it is jackson's finesse and relationship with the code over there >>gary: he was an assistant coach at southern california and recruited palmer there. then he was an assistant coach at cincinnati. mike brown used to be his boss. the bengals said, let's do something.
7:46 am
>>darya: we will be looking back saying, jackson is a genius or, you will be nailed. >>gary: there is no guarantee that if you keep your draft choices, you would pick a good guy. >>gary: if you give up young talent that is already proven, that is one thing, but the draft choice is still a question mark. >>darya: you know who is it doing their part? the lingerie football league. what i found out today is, they are starting a youth program. they are inviting michael jackson's daughter because she plays flag
7:47 am
football. they are going to go nationwide and help young girls to show off their talents. >>gary: michael jackson's daughter is not doing it, they are just inviting her for publicity. >>gary: it to me, there are some sports wear people are people. flat football is ok, but some of these to tackle football leagues, i do not think young ladies should do that. i do not think young ladies should box.
7:48 am
>>gary: is that monterey? >>darya: pretty much. >>gary: you dressed in a different look today. >>darya: this was honey, does my but look begin these jeans? >>darya: our big coverage is a huge accident, we have to get back to that. the
7:49 am
raiders are a big story also. i will talk to you tomorrow.
7:50 am
7:51 am
7:52 am
>>mark: we are on the scene of the accident on 101 waiting for the vehicles to be upgraded and moved from the scene. that has created a traffic nightmare in san francisco. gerge rask has the latest. >>george: that was video from a few moments ago when they actually totaled one of the tankers away. it is a set of doubles. here, you
7:53 am
can see what is left. this tanker has to be righted. these were some and tanks. they managed to spill some of the cement onto the roadway. it appeared to be dry. this was the direction of travel. this has turned around 180 degrees or more. this was really a bad accident. this truck completely flipped around and pointed in the wrong direction. a flatbed truck was just brought to the scene. they are likely going to have to separate these two units. the next exit is army cesar chavez. they will probably have to load that on to the flatbed truck that was brought to the sea. the
7:54 am
next operation is to get this unit back on its wheels and then, they will have to deal with the cab. and there was a public affairs officer on the scene that actually estimated the time of a reopening at noon. that is the only report we have heard so far. my guess is this will be out there for at least the next two hours. the good news is, many people have avoided the area and avoided the bay bridge. here is a look at the bay bridge toll plaza. this is the westbound ride headed towards the island and towards san francisco. clearly people are getting the message and avoiding downtown san francisco and the bay bridge. traffic is being forced onto city streets. the city streets are heavier than usual
7:55 am
because the traffic is being diverted at fifth, ninth for the central freeway. that is the latest on our hot spot. erica cotta has been standing by with team track the coverage. >>erica: the commute has quieted down. many people got the message. if you are still thinking about the bay bridge, you will hit a back up coming off of the suspension span and on to city streets. we recommend to the san mateo bridge, westbound 92 as a heavier than usual. the drive time is still pretty good at 16- 17 minutes from end to end. on the golden gate bridge, southbound 101, a clear shot. traffic has thinned out nicely. the drive time is still under 28 minutes
7:56 am
from navato to the toll plaza. >>james: we have cloudy conditions over san francisco and a good bit of the bay area. let's walk you through our headlines. we expect things to remain cloudy. we have coal so fog and potential for drizzle. partly-mostly cloudy skies. a round of the coast and the bay, '60s and '70s is your temperature range. inland, temperatures in the '70s. here is where temperatures are right now. we are holding steady with traders in the upper fifties and low 60s. we expect things to begin warming and the next hour or two. hot cloud cover will keep the sun from doing its thing. mild temperatures
7:57 am
as a result. at noon, a mix of '60s and '70s. by 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., not much has changed. a mild day to day. here is a look at your current temperatures. here is your 7 day around the bay. things look better for the weekend. >>darya: we are back in a couple of minutes. here is a live look from the roof on van ness ave. we are focused on this guy rather than the traffic. clouds and a little bit of daylight peeking
7:58 am
through.
7:59 am
8:00 am
>>mark: thank you for joining us on the kron 4 news. southbound on 101 remains close after this tanker turned on its side on the freeway at hospital curve. there is the scene from 5:00 a.m. when this happened to. the cab of the tanker caught on fire. there are three injuries related to this accident. the traffic backup is growing. we are also watching the tanker itself. jackie sissel has been live on the scene throughout the morning. >>jackie: it is all about the cleanup. there are records on the scene at southbound 101 near hospital curve. they have of prided one of the two tanks that was carrying cement. the
8:01 am
records are now working on the second of the two tanks. there are attempting to get that of righted. after that, they will have to get the cat out of the way. the cab is what caught on fire. at least three people were injured, one possibly critical. the big problem is getting back cab out of here. the tires looked melted. they will have to get that out of here probably on a flatbed. was the cleanup is done, that is when the structural engineers from caltrans will come out. it happens on this flyaway over city streets in downtown san francisco. engineers will have to come out here and take a look at it to see the potential damage. sixteenth street is still shut off at san bruno. they are not
8:02 am
letting anyone through. some of the city streets are backing up. it is a headache anywhere you go. avoid this area if you can. >>mark: southbound 101 has been closed for three hours now. >>darya: people are now getting the word and they are staying away. on the bay bridge, no one is there to add to the back up. >>george: here is a current look at the scene. they have already cleared one of the trailers from the scene. this is the cab that caught fire. there should be an engine block and a hood. this is the front of the vehicle. for the longest time i thought this was the back. this is actually the front. the direction of
8:03 am
travel is here, it is flipped in the opposite direction. the westbound traffic is backed up from the san francisco acreage to the island. there are no cars here or here. there is no way to get through on 101. >>will: as people are getting off of the freeway on city streets, it is bumper to bumper as people try to avoid the mess. i
8:04 am
spoke someone who was stuck in traffic and ask him how long it took him to get to this location, he said from the fremont exit to hear it took him about 15 minutes. this will be an ongoing
8:05 am
problem for most of the day. >>george: it has been surprising to see how many people have avoided the bay bridge. the traffic is being sent in this direction. you will be forced to exit the freeway here, here or on the central freeway. there is no getting through the city on 101. you need to take 280 out of san francisco or get on 101 south of army cesar chavez. that is as long as the mass remains in place keeping the freeway shutdown. we have team coverage from the traffic center with erica. >>erica: speeds are in the single digits in some of the slowest spots. westbound 580, slow and go conditions
8:06 am
out of livermore. beads are averaging 30 mi. per hour. the bay bridge toll plaza is practically empty. we recommended that you take the san mateo bridge as an alternate route. traffic is heavier than usual across the span the the drive time is looking pretty good at 15-16 minutes from one end to the other. everything looks good on the span with space between cars. near lucas valley road, slow and go conditions on a stretch of the freeway. speeds have dropped to just 25 mi. per hour.
8:07 am
>>james: , satellite, you can see how extensive the cloud cover is over the bay. that is what will keep us from warming things up this afternoon. right now, temperatures are mild. the sun has been held for almost an hour but it is not doing much in the way of warning as because of the cloud cover. by 3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. we will still be dealing with a 70 degree weather. we will not be seeing anything in the way of 80 degrees like yesterday. today is of the last day of the cool down. it will be the last day of the week. we are looking for
8:08 am
about 65 or slightly warmer along the coast depending on where you are. thursday and friday are looking pretty good. gradual warming for the weekend. saturday and sunday look fantastic. it looks like we will keep things mild into next week. we will be back with more news in a minute. the time now is 8:08 a.m..
8:09 am
8:10 am
8:11 am
>>george: 8:10 a.m. as we continue to track a hot spot that has been with us for three hours, since 5:00 a.m. when this truck jackknifed and overturned, spilling a load of concrete on the road way. the cab of the truck caught fire. the fire extinguished for quite a while. they have managed to remove one of these sets of tank trucks that were carrying what appeared to be dry cement. one of them is already out of the way. we spoke to a spokesperson from caltrans who said they expect they could get their rigged up breaded and removed by as early as 9:00 a.m., but they still have to do a major inspection of the road way to determine if there has been damage to the surface or the roadbed itself. that could mean not reopening the road way until 11:00 a.m. or 12:00 a.m. which was one of the reports we have heard. the only good
8:12 am
news in all of the this is that a lot of people have avoided the area. hal
8:13 am
>>justine: a share as have a shoot-to-kill order on animals that have a skate in ohio. >>officer: at this point, due to our preliminary investigations, we feel that mr. thompson died from self- inflicted wounds. we believe that he released these animals. at some point not only were the gate opened, but some of the pens were also open.
8:14 am
>>justine: it is raining in that area of ohio. the sheriff believes that the three that are missing could be hiding out in trees. this is causing a huge safety concern. three school districts have been closed. we will keep you updated and be right back.
8:15 am
8:16 am
8:17 am
>>george: the time is 816, our hot spot is also a developing story, it is a the shutdown of highway 880 101 through downtown san francisco because of an overturned tanker truck. this was one of at least four vehicles involved in a crash that occurred at 5:00 a.m.. 101 through the heart of the city has been shut down since 5:00 a.m.. it looks as though it will remain closed until 11:00 a.m. or noon today. that is the estimate from the caltran spoke person that we spoke with. when the accident occurred the truck was traveling southbound. it ended up facing the opposite direction. it turned 180 degrees. when the accident occurred the cab of the truck caught fire. this is the burned out remnants for which a tow truck has been brought to the scene. we do not see a huge back up on
8:18 am
the bay bridge on the span or at the bay bridge toll plaza because so many people have gotten the message and are avoiding the area. what few cars are being led through are being put on to city streets. because of their rate of the light that has been moving so slowly that it has created a jam up on city streets. will tran has been monitoring this situation. you have commented on how quickly the light change at the fifth street offramp giving so few cars an opportunity to get off. >>will: once this turns green i will let you know how quickly the light changes. fortunately we have not seen any accidents as far as cars and trying to get off the freeway and make the green light on to the
8:19 am
city streets, but it is a bumper to bumper. i had a chance to speak with some people stuck in traffic and i ask, how long did it take to get to this location. one person said 10-15 minutes starting at the fremont exit which is the previous exit to hear. in a perfect world would normally take 30-45 seconds to get to this location. it is taking about 10 minutes which is a long time considering it normally would not have to wait. maybe they should bring someone out here, nonetheless at least they are moving.
8:20 am
>>george: definitely moving there, but no better along city streets. here is a live look at the cleanup operations using the same technique that they did with the first of the tanker trailers. there are living with one truck on the inside and another is off-camera and polling. it is not quite as close to the to pinpoint as you might think. actually takes quite a bit, it needs to be tilted quite a bit more before it would drop to its wheels. what you see is likely some of the powdered cement. we call them tanker cars, they could be more accurately called closed hopper cars. i believe the material they carry is not that, i believe it is dry cement. that is what appears to be on the roadway. we did observe some of that
8:21 am
dropping from the opening at the top when the last of that set of doubles was righted. the last time they try to get one of these trailers on its wheels, they had to block the inside tires here hand here in order to keep it from dragging across the roadway although i imagine with the the cab here and having no tires left, that is probably providing some friction and drag so that they can get it on its wheels and a little bit easier. according to the caltrans estimates, they thought they might have their raids on its wheels and towed off the scene as early as 9:00 a.m.. that is 40 minutes from now. then, they will have to do a pretty thorough inspection not only of the pavement but also the roadbed. as jackie sissel is pointing out, this is on an elevated portion of
8:22 am
the freeway. caltrans engineers want to continue with that inspection before they get the road way we opened. we have been providing team traffic coverage this morning. here is erica with more. >>erica: i've picked up some slowing on southbound 101, i checked the roadway sensors, we are at speeds below 15 mi. per hour right now. no major accidents on the traffic locks or stalls to tell you about. the good news is, i did calculate a drive time, an extra eight minutes southbound. onto the bridge, a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza, a lot of people got the message to avoid westbound 80. the metering lights are still cycled on. if you are thinking about taking the bay bridge you will be met with significant delays. we
8:23 am
recommended that you head to the san mateo bridge. we are seeing more space between cars. the drive time really is not affected running 1-2 minutes more than your usual right. on the golden gate bridge i told you about delays in getting their on southbound 101 but once you are on the span, a pretty nice drive and visibility looks good with space between cars. >>james: blue skies on the golden gate bridge. there is a small pocket of clearing over the golden gate bridge. otherwise, widespread cloud cover. the east bay, just to the east of the oakland hills is not too bad in terms of overcast conditions. as for our temperatures, they have not moved too much. we expect
8:24 am
the east bay valley is to began warming first. it the early morning sun will shortly begin to make its affects fell to here is where we see temperatures, 70 in oakland, 72 in fremont and hayward. upper 70's as you head to los gatos and morgan hill. in the delta, mid-70s. that is the same forecast for concord, martinez, walnut creek, all the way down the 68 corridor to pleasanton. in the north, now, 74, santa rosa, 75. here is a quick look at your
8:25 am
7 day around the bay before we hand things over to mark and darya. we have sunshine on the horizon. >>darya: 8:25 a.m., we want to take a quick break from our team coverage of our hot spot. we have a live look at the bay bridge, it looks like such an easy ride. we have been saying it did not take the bay bridge because of this accident, we will be right back.
8:26 am
8:27 am
8:28 am
>>mark: welcome back. this
8:29 am
tanker truck is now turned upright. it is near a hospital curve. we are finally perhaps in the low final phases of the cleanup. the 101 could open, shortly. it is nearly 3.5 hours that 101 south on has been closed. california should be proud. we were the first to ban smoking on airplanes. the first to have smoke-free bars and restaurants. all while saving over $86 billion in health care costs...
8:30 am
