>> this is the bay area's news station. kron 4 news at 11:00 starts now. >> now at 11:00, police on high alert following the fourth straight night of protests over the verdict in the george zimmerman trial. oakland police have outnumbered the number of protesters tonight. police are enforcing the law. they are handing out tickets. at least one arrest. a very different sustain from last night. kron 4 was there when the arrest was made just a few minutes ago. you can see a person being taken off by police in riot gear. good evening, i'm catherine heenan and new at 11:00, a group of protesters back in the streets of oakland and again, a stepped up police presence. that is very clear. kron 4's alicia reed is live in oakland watching what is happening. alicia? >> reporter: katherine, police are on high alert.

officers are here surrounding city hall in case anything should happen. >> pigs go home! pigs go home! >> reporter: it got a little physical outside city hall when a few protesters confronted police. they didn't last long, but officers manned the streets should anyone get violent. earlier at the city council meeting, neighbors showed concern about last night's violent protest. in fact, paul from the oakland police department cig they were prepared with a contingency plan when the george zimmerman verdict came down saturday and that police presence has been growing each day. even more assistance has been added now. >> it is very difficult in those situations to deal with the large numbers of individuals who fan out from the main group to engage in

acts of violence and other things and vandalism that were occurs. ones in accident, we had a group of officers that was being assaulted while they were taking someone into custody. that required a significant police response and we are very serious about moving forward and prosecuting those we can produce evidence they engaged in vandalism. in addition to those we arrested last night. >> reporter: the police are here in an effort to keep the streets safe and they are asking for anyone with photos from last night's vandalism to send them into opd. live in oakland, alicia reed, kron 4 news. >> thank you aleshia. and a program based in downtown oakland got caught up in the violence. you see damage to the billing during the protests over the zimmerman verdict. the program director says this was a lesson for his students. >> we were hard at work

covering the trayvon martin verdict and also preparing for the first day of our summer session. went home after the long day. got a call at 11:30:00 p.m. three of our very large windows had been bashed in. the lesson we are taking is to be professional and keep moving forward and cover the story we are covering, the trayvon martin case and preparing to learn in the summer session. so that's our take away is to keep moving forward. >> also, monday night, this waiter in oakland injure by a protester. someone hit him in the head with a hammer. he had been trying to protect the restaurant where he works called flora. he was bloodied and bruised, and went to the emergency room. he is okay tonight. the naacp held a rally tonight at san francisco city

hall. another protest of the acquittal of george zimmerman. kron 4's jeff bush was there. >> reporter: the group, more than 100 strong were at the step city hall to make their voices heard. >> and we will push for a civil suit that will will bring zimmerman to justice. >> reporter: voices of anger over the verdict could be heard but that anger was tempered by a message of hope. >> we cannot give in. we must come together. we must band together. we must advocate together. we must continue forward together. we must engender hope together. we must stand our ground together! [ cheers and applause ] right? because we have work to do! >> reporter: the prevailing theme of this rally was a

protest of the zimmerman verdict, but parallel to that theme, there was also a call for unity and brotherhood in the community. i'm jeff bush in san francisco, on 4 news. we first heard from juror b- 37 last night. she told cnn's anderson cooper she believes zimmerman acted out of frustration, not racism and he is a good person. >> do you think george zimmerman violated trayvon >> i don't think he did. i don't think he did at all. i don't think he profiled him. i think he profiled him as someone in the neighborhood that was suspicious. >> when he says these fing punks, they always get away with it, he was not referencing race? he was referencing young people? >> i think he was referencing frustrate of everything

happening in the neighborhood. >> new tonight, four other jurors are now trying to distance themselves from her statements even thoughoverly, they voted to acquit zimmerman. they say the woman's statements do not represent their views. well temperatures are on the mild side. still in the 60s in a number of places. the cloud cover is already moving back in. we are seeing low clouds. another night of widespread fog coverage. but it will clear faster out there tomorrow than it did tot. that will help lead to warmer temperatures. about five to 10 degrees of warming for tomorrow, especially for inland valleys and we will continue the warming. it will be hot by the week's end in parts of the bay area. ly shoyu where and we will look at the forecast coming up. firefighters are on the scene of a brush fire in southern california. at least 19 buildings have been droid. we know some of them are houses, cabins, cars, dozens of

homes and an animal sanctuary have been evacuated. the fire is only 10% contained and sit not clear how it started. coming up, california regulators want pge to pay big fines. and we are learning more about a gruesome double murder at a san francisco jewelry store last week. and some of the passengers at the plane crash at sfo are taking action. and police on high alert in oakland. a fourth night of protests over the verdict in the george zimmerman trial. you are looking live. sit a fairly small group and tonight, unlike last night and earlier nights, a lot more police officers who appear to be more prepared for what is happening. they are enforcing the law. they are handing out tickets.

>> pg and e could pay the biggest fine for the deadly pipeline blast in 2010. they are calling on them to pay at least 300 million in fines as part of a proposed penalty of $2 billion. being recommended most of the fine being used to improve the safety of pipelines. that blast in san bruno destroyed 38 homes. morgan hill police have arrested a 28-year-old man. you are looking at his mug shot. he engaged in lewd acts on a child at a ymca last week. a six-year-old girl says nicholas herman forced her to engage in sexual acts. he has been charged with position of child pornography. he violated a policy that will

>> there is new information on the double murder at the jewelrymart in san francisco. the suspect, barry white was in court today. kron 4's dan kerman was there and has details of how white allegely kill first-degree two women and injured the store owner. >> reporter: barry white made his first court appearance tuesday. this mug shot gives a better look at who the district attorney is calling a cold- blooded killer. >> this was brutal and

gratuitous. his beef was with the store owner and he executed the women present. >> reporter: during arraignment, district attorney scott clark described the attack as seen on three cameras. the suspect is seen entering the store, having a dispute over the owner of the cost of a previously purchased item, leaving the store to fill his parking meter, returning, waiting for other customers to leave, and without any suggestion of trouble, beginning the massacre. >> he pulls out a five-shot revolver and fires at the owner. he fires at the female next to him one time. >> reporter: the da says the two victims retreat to the back of the store, but another employee does not. the da shows store video of white shooting at her as well and cutting her throat. >> you see her final moments and the terror on her face and

you see the frustration as she realizes she is going to die. >> reporter: the suspect then goes to the rear of the store and chases and stabs the two initial victims before leaveing the store and firing on police and surrendering. had he made it back to his car, he could have made it much worse because inside the car was a fully loaded ak-47. white is charged with 16 felonies including two cases of murder. in the hall of justice in san francisco, dan kerman, kron 4 news. members of the victim's families were at the arraignment for white. the brother of one of the women killed was overcome with emotion when he talked about what happened. >> she took us to the icu and we were there in the waiting room. just one minute later, the owner wife comes in and she saw

my mother. she started crying. and we can't take that, you know? >> he says the family learned about the murder by watching the news. a toddler in oakland is still missing. her family says more need to be done to find the little girl. daphne viola webb's family talked to reporters today. they held pictures of the little girl who has been missing six days now. her family says she was taken from a car. missing children's advocate mark class was there and he is asking the public to come forward with any information. >> the one important aspect of the message going out today is to locate absolutely anybody that has seen baby daphne and her father over the course of the last couple of weeks. >> daphne's father john webb was arrested and released on

child endangerment charges. daphne lives with her parent ins an oakland hills apartment. neighbors have not seen the little girl in weeks. kron 4 has learned that her mother kiana webb was restricted from being 100 yards from her daughter because of a drug conviction. the fog was the big weather story out there today. tomorrow, we will see widespread fog again in the morning but it will clear faster and that will lead to warmer conditions especially inland. into thursday and friday, even less fog is expected so we will be back in the 90s away from the coast. here is a look at the fog tracker. widespread fog conch through the morning hours. by 8:00, we are seeing the fog lift a little bit from the delta, but it still remains everywhere else by 10:00. the fog scales back to portions of the north bay. bay shores, the peninsula and back to the coastline. this is a good representation

of what we could see. we could see some clearing tomorrow afternoon because of our winds out of the north are expected to pick up and that tends to clear the fog from the north bay coastline. temperature ins the south bay tomorrow running in the 70s and the low 80s . lit be 77 in mountain view. 82 in campbell. for inland valleys back into the 80s , it will be 83 in concord. antioch, 86. 70s for the most part for the east bay shores but in the 60s in richmond where the fog will linger a little longer. 64 in san francisco and a range of 70s expected for the north bay. a look at the extended forecast. tomorrow, foggy to start, but warmer in the afternoon and the warming trend will continue. we will have less and less fog each dayment saturday will be our warmest day. then we will start to cool some into sunday and monday. in sports, the home run derby by yoenis cespedes has
