with the latest on the battle in washington .. over this controversial executive order. within the span of a few hours, one acting attorney general was fired, another was hired...and president trump's permanent pick for the position... is still hanging in the balance. sally yates is out...because she spoke out against the controversial immigration order. and within the last two hours...a dana boente was sworn in. cameras were not invited to last minute ceremony...boente is a u-s attorney for the eastern district of virginia. he'll be in charge until... president trump's pick for attorney general...senator jeff sessions... is sworn in. that could happen as soon as this week...but the vote is expected to be contentious and close...especially after the comments critical of the president's order... from both sides of the isle.== earlier today then acting attorney general, sally yates...a president obama appointee...said she is not convinced that president trump's order is lawful, or that its defense is consistent
with the department's obligatiúon to quote "always seek justice and stand for what is right." late today the white house shot back...saying yates "has betrayed the department of justice by refusing to enforce a legal order designed to protect the citizens of the united states." the firing of the acting attorney general.. is just the latest part of the political drama unfolding in washingtn tonight. today former president barack obama weighed in... catherine heenan has reaction from the trump administration to the backlash against the temporary travel ban. next day, four federal judges ordered a stay.and today washington state's attorney general has filed a suit to declare the ban illegal.in the courtroom, it is not the loudest noise that prevails. it's the constitution.senate minority leader chuck schumer calls the ban poorly written and badly executed.it was put together in a slapdash way, almost as if they put it together on the back of an envelope.president trump reacted to the criticism with scorn.i noticed chuck schumer yesterday with fake tears. i'm going to ask him who is his acting coach is."on sunday, the new york senator choked up as he talked about the ban., "... was mean spirited and un- americanformer president obama had remained silent or his successor's first ten days in office.today he released a statement saying he fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith or religionand that he is heartened by the level of engagement taking
place in communities around the country.at the white house, spokesman sean spicer defended the ban.he's doing exactly what he told the american people he would do. the president will always put the safety and prosperity of our country first and foremost. "we're talking about a universe of 109 people. there were 325-thousand people that came into this country over a 24-hour period from another country. 109 of them were stopped for additional screening. we've got to keep this in proportion."
happenign tomorrow... president trump is set to announce his pick for the next supreme court justice. president trump said he would make the announcement live tuesday night, eight p-m eastern. two people close to the process say trump finished interviewing potential nominees last week. it is believed, his pick is down to three judges: neil gorsuch...thomas hardiman. and william h. pryor junior. all who sit on federal appeals courts.
