another dangerously hot day expected all across the bay area today. taking a look at what you can expect this afternoon... temperatures reaching triple digits is some parts of the bay area. ( mark ) good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm mark danon.( james ) and i'm james fletcher. another hot day expected across the bay area. and we have complete team coverage of the heat. lydia pantazes is in martinez and averi harper is live in walnut creek. we will get to them in a moment. lets first start with anny hong in the weather center tracking the heat. anny? ( mark ) power outages continue to be a problem during this heat wave. more than 10-thousand people lost power yesterday... mostly in the east bay where they are seeing the hottest temperatures. livermore was one of the hardest hit cities. nearly 5-thousand p-g-and-e customers lost power in that city. and in some cases the power outage forced businesses to close down for the day. ( mark ) and the high temperatures are making for high fire danger. a grass fire broke out in vacaville. it started during a police chase. it happened near vaca valley road and interstate- 505. one of

the cars involved caught fire.. firefighters were able to get a handle on it, before it spread any further. ( james ) and if you are outside in the heat, doctors want you to be careful and know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. here are some of the symptoms to look out for. if you feel faint or dizzy and are sweating excessively you may be suffering from heat exhaustion. heat exhaustion also comes with a weak pulse and possible muscle cramps. if you have these symptoms doctors say you need to get to a cooler place and drink water to cool yourself down. heat stroke is even more serious. symptoms include a throbbing headache and no sweating. they also include a body temperature of over 103 degrees and you may even lose consciousness. if you see somebody suffering from a heat stroke you should call 9-1-1 and take immediate actions to cool that person down until help can arrive. ( mark ) and breaking news from overnight... uber c-e-o travis kalanick has stepped down. this comes after several complaints in recent months including sexual harassment allegations.(james) will tran is live outside uber headquarters with the latest. will. ( will ) the 40-year-old helped found the ride-hailing service in 2009. uber has been hit with several complaints in recent months. including sexual harassment allegations and a reported criminal investigation by the department of justice. the loss of its c-e-o is another hard hit for uber. the company has already lost its

( james ) new this morning... google is one step closer to building a development in san jose. last night the san jose city council approved the start of negotiations with google about a 6-million square foot office and retail complex. the complex would be built near the diridon station. google likes the location because it is a transit hub

for caltrain... v-t-a... amtrak and eventually bart. san jose's mayor has thrown his support behind the project saying it could bring up to 20- thousand new jobs to the city. (mark) a physical education teacher died after a shooting in san francisco's south of market neighborhood. 31-year-old carlo tateo from oakland, was shot during an argument early sunday morning. it happened near the corner of folsom and 11th streets after leaving a business in the area with a group of his friends. tateo worked at skyline high school. a go fund me page has been set up for his daughter and girlfriend, and for a link to that go to our website at kron four dot com. police have not made any arrests or released a decription of the shooter. ( mark ) campus police at u- c berkeley are searching for three armed robbers who shot a woman. it happened yesterday morning on grizzly peak boulevard. police say a woman and two men were approached by three people who demanded their money. when the victims ran to their car one of the robbers opened fire hitting the woman in the

no major hot spots. richmond bridge drive less than 20 min from the toll to 101bay bridge wb 80 is less then 30 min from the maze to sf. ( mark ) o-j simpson could become a free man later this year. his parole hearing has been set for july 20th. the 70-year-old was sentenced to a 33 year sentence for robbing a memorabilia dealer at gunpoint in las vegas in 2007. a panel of four parole commissioners could approve his release in october.

simpson was acquitted in 19-95 in los angeles in the killings of his ex-wife, nicole brown simpson, and her friend, ronald goldman. kron four will be live in las vegas when the announcement on his parole is made. (mark) parts of the gulf coast are bracing for tropical storm cindy that could bring dangerous flash flooding to the area. people in mississippi are laying down sand bags to prepare for flooding. forecasters say some areas of louisiana, mississippi, alabama and florida could see up to a foot of rain. tropical storm cindy is expected to make landfall on the texas- louisiana border early tomorrow morning. (james) several parents are stunned after a man was found using a los angeles day care center as a drug trafficking hub. police say the kids played and slept surrounded by dozens of pounds of cocaine. the drugs were trafficked out of the house that also functioned as an unlicensed day care center of kids of many ages. investigators say they found cocaine next to a child's bed... and kids were also seen playing outside during drug deals. the same man was

arrested at the same home two years ago for drug possession, but was never prosecuted. (james) the nation's largest meat producer is trying to make sure animals are treated better before they are killed. tyson foods says they are looking for a new way to kill chickens, as well as monitoring how employees handle birds. this comes as undercover videos show some workers with several different companies treating animals roughly tyson says they have installed video cameras that focus on areas where workers handle live animals. and nearly five-dozen animal well-being specialists have been hired to circulate their meat- processing plants. the company is also exploring killing birds with carbon dioxide gas rather than slaughtering them. ( mark ) a local pastor is being credited with helping to save the life of a c-h-p officer .... who was badly beaten over the weekend. pastors joel and annalisa jones of 'spirit of the truth church worldwide' in crockett... witnessed a driver hit several cars with his truck saturday morning on interstate -80 in fairfield. the couple called police and

followed the driver until he stopped next to the median near suisun city. when a female c-h-p officer arrived, the couple says the driver attacked her... nearly beating her unconcious. one of the pastors intervened and got the man off the officer until help arrived. ( mark ) the officer survived. the attacker was taken into custody. the c-h-p has reached out to the pastors thanking them for saving the officer's life. pastor joel also happens to be a retired sergeant with the san francisco sheriff's (mark) a san jose family is offering a reward after their mini pig was stolen from their back yard. the pig's owners say they fed her before going to a fathers day barbeque and when they returned... the 100 pound pig was gone. they say their security cameras were ripped off the sides of their home and taken. the home is

(james) senate republicans plan to release a draft of the senate's health care bill on thursday. majority leader mitch mcconnell says he hopes to send the final bill to the congressional budget office this week so the c-b-o can review it and issue a report early next week. mcconnell has said he wants to bring the bill to a vote before the july 4th recess. both republicans and democrats have complained about not seeing the senate bill yet -- and some have said it is being written in secret. it would only take three republican senators voting against the bill to kill it. it is not known whether president trump has seen the measure yet. he asked for a bill more generous than the one passed by the house. (james) happening today...montana republican greg gianforte is set to be sworn in as the newest member of congress. this comes a month after body slamming a reporter who asked him a

question about the g-o-p health care bill. gianforte pleaded guilty to assault and was sentenced to comminuty service. he will be sworn in today by house speaker paul ryan. once his oath is completed, republicans will have 239 members in the house compared to 193 for democrats. (mark) gas prices are going down in the bay area. triple-a says consumers are benefiting from strong oil production and weak gasoline demand. this mean gas prices across the nation could fall through the end of the month. taking a look at prices around the bay area. in san jose it's $3.04 for a gallon of regular. that's compared to $3.10 just a week ago. it will cost you a penny more in oakland. and san francisco is always the most expensive at $3.18 for a gallon of gas. (mark) a consumer watchdog group says those wildly popular fidget spinners aren't as harmless as they might appear.(james) "world against toys causing harm" just presented their annual list of unsafe summer toys this morining. the list highlights potentially hazardous items that parents should avoid.(mark) the group says bits can fall off the fidget spinners and pose choking hazards for small

bridge drive less than 20 min from the toll to 101 ( james ) the east bay has seen the brunt of the heat wave hitting the bay area. tempertures in walnut creek approached 100- degrees yesterday. and some people in walnut creek spent hours without any power. a tree snapped a line and p-g and-e crews were stretched thin dealing with other outages so it took an extended amount of time to get the power restored. the cook family says that was a bit of a hardship for one family member:

but they got the power back on fairly fast, and that was appreciated. >( james ) and many people sought relief at the pool at heather farm park but there was one problem. water temperatures in the pool were sitting at 88- degrees. now city officials are using fountains to try to cool down the water. they say the fountains were running through the night to try and lower the water recreational the park are from 1 to 4-30-in the afternoon. ( mark ) the summer heat wave is bringing big business to bay area air conditioner companies. norm connolly has been in the air conditioning business for twenty five years but with this hot weather he now has more business than he can handle. most of his customers say they neglected a spring check up on their a-c unit and just hoped for cool air the first time they turned it on.

( mark ) and a power alert is still in effect statewide today. a "flex alert" calls for voluntary conservation due to the high demand of electricity. power officials are asking people to avoid using major appliances between 2 p-m and 9 p-m. they are also asking people to set air conditioners to 78- degrees or higher. it is all an attempt to ease the strain on the state's power grids. taser at a man outside the gold coin motel in santa rosa. you can see what appears to be an all- out fight with officers hitting at least one person. the man who sent us this video claims he was unlawfully detained and beaten. he says he now has a broken foot and gashes on his face. the man says he was never arrested. we reached out to santa rosa police who tell us they responded to a loud disturbance and possible fight involving 10 -to 15- people. when they arrived, they saw a two- year old child and went to see what was happening. they say they were confronted a short time later by two men who yelled obscenities at them and had to be held back. at one point one man threw a bottle. police say a short time later after several commands were made they fired a taser to subdue the two men and took them both into custody. considered castile a threat. a jury acquitted yanez last ( james ) the family of the man who killed his two children and then himself is speaking out this morning. santa rosa police say 40- year-old alvaro camara killed his 6-year-old daughter and 18-month-old son sometime on father's day... and then hanged himself. his estranged wife last heard from him on sunday when he said he was running late to return their children. camara then texted his mother, telling her he loved her and he would see her later. his sister says the family is in disbelief because of how much her bother cared for his children. ( james ) the children's mother wrote a letter to the

(mark) san jose police are looking for three men who robbed a gas station at gunpoint. police have released these photos of the robbery. it happened last tursday at an arco on tully road. officers say 2 men stole beer from the gas station store and ran away. when the clerk ran after them.. a third robber forced him back into the store with a hand gun and demanded money. after taking the money, the three thieves took off on foot. ( james ) the san francisco board of supervisors have approved a ban on flavored tobacco sales. the legislation targets these products because some say they are marketed to vunerable people who include children and young adults. some smalll business advocates protested the legislation. they say it hurts corner stores who rely on tobacco sales to make a profit. the new law goes into effect on january first 20-18. ( mark ) the lakers have traded d'angelo russell and timofey mozgov to the brooklyn nets for brook lopez and a draft pick. this opens up the window for the lakers to draft lonzo ball. three people with knowledge of the deal say the los angeles lakers have agreed to trade point guard d'angelo russell and high-priced center timofey mozgov to the brooklyn nets. the lakers would receive

hornets have reached an agreement to acquire the center from the hawks, along with the 31st overall pick in thursday's draft for center miles plumlee, shooting guard marco belinelli and the 41st pick. howard signed a three-year, $70.5 million deal with atlanta last summer after three seasons with houston. (mark) the son of warriors hall of famer rick barry canyon barry worked out for the team yesterday along with 5 other players looking at a shot for a summer league spot.

( mark ) pro football hall of famer warren sapp is donating his brain for medical research. sapp announced on social media tuesday that his brain will go to the concussion legacy foundation after his death. the 44-year-old said in a statement that he's started to feel the effects of the many hits he took during his 13-year nfl career. he said he's specifically become concerned about his memory. sapp said he hopes his donation can help prevent concussions and permanent brain damage for future football players. sapp played defensive tackle from 1995-2003 for the tampa bay buccaneers, where he earned seven trips to the pro bowl and a super bowl ring in 2002. he then played for the oakland raiders from 2004-2007.

the oakland a's could bring in huge money for the city and two-thousand new jobs. a new report put together by the bay area council predicts a new ballpark would bring in more than three billion dollars into the oakland economy over a decade. the team has identified three potential locations in oakland.. the peralta community college district near lake merrit. the howard terminal, not far from jack london square... or a new stadium could be built on the same location as the current coliseum. fans had mixed reactions about the possibilities.

( james ) the international airport in flint michigan has been evacuated after an officer was injured. police have not said what happened to the officer but witnesses say that the officer was bleeding from the neck. witnesses also say a person was being detained by police and there was a knife on the ground. police have not released any other details. ( mark ) a man gets in a fight with police in the north bay outside of a motel and the entire incident is caught on camera.< yelling and screaming> ( mark ) this video was recorded after police fired a taser at a man outside the gold coin motel in santa rosa. you can see what appears to be an all- out fight with officers hitting at least one person. the man who sent

us this video claims he was unlawfully detained and beaten. he says he now has a broken foot and gashes on his face. the man says he was never arrested. we reached out to santa rosa police who tell us they responded to a loud disturbance and possible fight involving 10 -to 15- people. when they arrived, they saw a two- year old child and went to see what was happening. they say they were confronted a short time later by two men who yelled obscenities at them and had to be held back. at one point one man threw a bottle. police say a short time later after several commands were made they fired a taser to subdue the two men and took them both into custody. ( james ) san jose police are looking for three men who robbed a gas station at gunpoint. police have released these photos of the robbery. it happened last tursday at an arco on tully road. officers say 2 men stole beer from the gas station store and ran away. when the clerk ran after them.. a third robber forced him back into the store with a hand gun and demanded money.

( james ) police arrest a santa rosa man on suspicion of arson. officers say he started a fire in his family's home which ended up killing his mother. it happened sunday afternoon at the santa rosa mobile estates on brooks avenue. firefigthers found 32-year-old ian stamp and his father outside the home but his mother... 66-year-old elizabeth stamp was trapped inside. crews found her body near a bathroom. detectives say evidence of a flammable substance in the area of the bedroom indicates that ian stamp may have started the fire intentionally. mark ) and the east bay has seen the brunt of the heat wave hitting the bay area. tempertures in walnut creek approached 100- degrees yesterday. and some people in walnut creek spent hours without any power. a tree snapped a line and p-g and-e crews were stretched thin dealing with other outages so it took an extended amount of time to get the power ( mark ) and a power alert is still in effect statewide today. a "flex alert" calls for voluntary conservation due to the high demand of electricity.

power officials are asking people to avoid using major appliances between 2 p-m and 9 p-m. they are also asking people to set air conditioners to 78- degrees or higher. it is all an attempt to ease the strain on the state's power grids. hanging himself. possibly sometime on father's day.they were all in the bedroom. he was found hung, and i'm assuming they were someplace close to him.the 40 year old was set to return his children sunday evening, but told his estranged wife he was running late. his last text was to his mother, telling her he loved her and he'd see her later. he then powered down his phone. no one could reach him. i just wish he would have seeked some help or came to us or something. i just wish he would have done something to prevent all of this.by monday morning, police were knocking on his family's door in hayward.as a sister i felt something unexplainable. i texted him to please give us a call. to not do anything stupid that he would regret. i did tell him the police is looking for you.by then it was already too late. this is all shocking to his family, because of how much he cared for his children.he loved those children very very much. the way he looked at those children was a love that was

unexplainable that only a father could understandwhen camara's mother and sister found out about the double murder and suicide, they tried reaching out to the children's mother unfortunately it was too painful for her to see them.i know as much as it hurts you it hurts us too. i know as a mother it must be very very painful, but we also lost a brother, a son, a nephew and a niece, a grand daughter and a grandson. him he is carrying a registered gun. officer yanez is heard telling castile not to pull out the gun and castile says he will not. the officer again says not to reach for the gun before he pulls his own weapon and fires seven times. castile's girlfriend says he was reaching for his wallet and drivers license. yanez told investigators the smell of marijuana from castile's car was part of the reason he considered castile a threat. a jury acquitted yanez last week. oakland a's could bring in huge money for the city and two-thousand new jobs. a new report put together by the bay area council predicts a new ballpark would bring in more than three billion dollars into the oakland economy over a decade. the team has identified three potential locations in oakland.. the peralta community college district near lake merrit. the howard terminal, not far from jack london square... or a new stadium could be built on the same location as the current coliseum. fans had mixed reactions about the possibilities.
