installing the last security camera at their station in concord.(take vo)bart officials promised that all trains will have working cameras by jul. 1.in jan. 2016, a 19-year old man was shot and killed on a train. after that shooting, bart came clean, announcing that most of the cameras on its trains were fake.bart has been brining in trains for their regular maintenance, and outfitting them with the cameras.as a result all of bart's 669 trains will have cameras. ( darya ) the family of a missing san francisco father is coming to his defense after allegations of an affair. 48-year-old piseth chhay went missing last month. and now rumors are surfacing that chhay may have been having an affair with the wife of the person of interest in the case. bob tang is a family friend of chhay. last weekend police found human remains in a hayward warehouse where tang had worked. he is believed to have fled to cambodia shortly after chhay went missing. chaay's cousin spoke to kron four about the rumors of the affair. ...

faithful guy. i don't believe he had an affair whatsoever with her. he is very faithful to the point where i said growing up i wish to find a husband like you. it was frustrating for me that bob was able to escape early on we can say that he escaped because he is no longer here to be questioned.">( darya ) right now police are doing d-n-a tests to determine if the body parts found in hayward are linked to the case. it could take up to two weeks. ( mark ) we have been following this story for more than a month. here is a time line of how this story has developed. 48-year-old piseth chhay (chai) was last seen on mothers day. police say... he left his home in san francisco's mission terrace neighborhood ... to help a friend. then less than a week later... police found chhay's silver mercedes s-u-v on davidson avenue in san francisco's bayview district. it had been completely stripped down. then on may 25th... police found the car belonging to bob tang at s-f-o. he is the main person of interest in the case. then... over the weekend... a canine team located human remains at a hayward warehouse where tang worked. ( darya ) the gunman wanted for shooting a sacramento sheriff's deputy in the face is now in custody.

the deputy was shot in the face after a fight with the man at a train station yesterday. the 27 year- old gunman then ran into a nearby red roof inn hotel. that's where he was taken into custody late last night. the sheriff deputy who was shot is a four year veteran of the department. he is in stable condition and had to have surgery on his jaw. (mark) police are cracking down on illegal fireworks as the fourth of july approaches. newark police had a significant undercover bust this week, and it all started with a craigslist ad. this is video of the illegal fireworks that have been confiscated. they are at a remote location in alameda county while the sheriff's office's bomb squad sorts through it. police officers in newark found someone trying to sell the fireworks on craigslist, so they set up an undercover buy. they found 300 pounds of illegal fireworks in one man's home. sergeant ray kelly says the sheriff's office focuses on going after big-time sellers who bring explosives in from other states.

sheriff: "fireworks are one of the most dangerous things we deal with in regards to our bomb squad world. i've personally been hurt by a firework. it caused a lot of damage to my hearing. and so you never really know; what may go off you think in two seconds, the next time you light it it could go off in half a second.">(mark) the state fire marshal's office will collect all the confiscated fireworks and destroy them. (darya) nine people are recovering after a muni bus collided with a truck in san francisco's duboce triangle neighborhood. this happened at the corner castro and beaver streets last night. all nine people hurt were taken to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries. (darya) police have identified a child killed in a car crash in east oakland. the four- year-old victim is cartier beasley. the two car crash happened near the intersection of 106th avenue and foothill boulevard on friday afternoon. no one else was hurt. a go-fund- me page has been set up for beasley. you can find a link to that page on our website, kron4.com.

(mark) in the east bay. . . people are complaining that their water tastes and smells funny. now some are wondering if it's safe to drink. people in the livermore amador valley area tell kron 4 that the water has recently developed a bad taste and a musty odor. scientists in livermore say the problem is from the unseasonably warm temperatures. the heat has led to water producing algae blooms on the water source from the delta. as many as 239-thousand customers could be impacted. but because of the way the water is treated... officials say it is completely safe to drink. < "no! we are meeting all of the health standards and that is what we posted on our website and it is absolutely safe to drink">(mark) officials say they will continue to search for ways to get rid of the bad taste and smell. they say a long term fix will be in place at the water treatment plants in 2019. oakland is closed this morning because of a toxic algae bloom. the east bay regional park district closed the popular lake yesterday. exposure to toxic algae can cause rashes, skin or eye irritation and can make you sick. the toxins can be deadly to dogs. this is the fourth year in a row park officials were forced to close the lake because of the toxic algae outbreak. (darya) now park officials will treat the water. the lake will not reopen until tests show it is safe, which could be weeks. (darya) and in fremont horseshoe lake is also off limits due to toxic blue- green algae. this is the same toxic algae that has closed lake temescal in oakland. officials say neither of the lakes will reopen until the algae drops to safe levels. ( mark ) republican senators have decided to postpone a vote on their new

health care bill. the original plan was to vote on the bill before the end of the week. majority leader mitch mcconnell says he wants more time to make changes to the bill in order to gain more support. mcconnell also said he is also hoping for a more favorable rating from the congressional budget office. earlier this week the c-b-o estimated that 22 million americans would lose coverage under the republican plan. but democrats say any version of the republican plan will likely not get their support: ( mark ) right now there is no timeline for when an updated version of the bill could be released. ( darya ) up to four million people in california would lose health coverage over the next decade under the senate republicans' health

care bill. that is according to senator dianne feinstein. she said over one and a half million californians would lose coverage by next year alone. by 20-26, the state would lose 24-billion dollars in federal money for medi-cal, which is a health care plan for the poor. governor jerry brown says the bill would eliminate money for drug treatment, increasing homelesness and crime. ( mark ) the u-s-g-s says the swarm of earthquakes that rattled near lake tahoe area is not a sign of a bigger quake to come. here is a live look at downtown truckee this morning.... and just 24 hours ago this area was being rattled by as many as 30 small earthquakes. the biggest one was a magnitude three point nine. the quakes hit a fault called the mohawk valley fault located in the sierras.

this is the sierra valley, i just comes down does a little turn and probably continues through right here. we get these fairly infrequently but it is an active seismic zone."> ( mark ) the u-s-g-s says half a dozen quakes measuring up to a 4-point-5 magnitude have hit the area within the last 25 years. ( darya ) we could soon start to see the final plans for president trump's proposed border wall by later this summer. up to eight companies will get contracts for prototypes in san diego that could be models for the roughly two-thousand mile border. companies will have 30 days to complete the models. president trump's budget proposal for 20-18 includes over one-and-half billion dollars for 74 miles of wall in texas' rio grande valley and san diego. (darya) lawyers are getting ready to defend travelers at airports across the nation. this comes as president trump's travel ban is set to take effect tomorrow. immigrant-

rights lawyers say they are planning to go to major airports to make sure eligible foreigners are able to get into the country. attorney's don't expect a repeat of the mass confusion that resulted earlier this year when president trump implemented his original ban. but the department of homeland security has yet to say how they will enforce the ban, so lawyers are preparing for anything and will monitor the airports tomorrow morning. (mark) several people are injured after scaffolding collapses in pismo beach. it happened yesterday on the beach near the kon tiki inn. people in the area say workers were repairing a cliffside damaged by winter rains when the scaffolding collapsed onto the beach. six construction workers were trapped underneath. four were taken to the hospital, and two are still in critical condition. construction on the cliffside has been suspended, and now neighbors say they are worried about the stability if their homes. ( mark ) bill cosby is headed back to court. this time in california. a judge in santa monica set a trial date for a civil lawsuit against the comedian. a

woman is suing cosby... saying he sexual assaulted her at the playboy mansion when she was just 15 years old. the alleged assault happened more than 40 years ago. attorneys for the woman are not saying how much money they are asking for. the trial is set to begin next summer. this comes less than two weeks after a jury failed to reach a verdict on rape charges against cosby in pennsylvania. ( darya ) sarah palin is suing the new york times, claiming she was defamed by the newspaper. the former governor of alaska says she was falsely portrayed as inspiring the 2011 shooting of congresswoman gabby giffords. it refers to an editorial this month on the recent shooting of congressman steve scalise. the editorial was later corrected. palin is seeking at least 75-thousand dollars in damages. a spokesperson for the times says it plans to defend itself from the claims made by palin. (darya) facebook says it is deleting about 66- thousand posts a week as part

of a crackdown on hate speech. facebook defines hate speech as attacks on people based on their race, sexual orientation, and other "protected characteristics". facebook currently has 45- hundred workers reviewing posts... and plans to hire three-thousand more by 20-18. just last week google said it plans to crack down on terrorist propaganda and other extremist videos on its youtube site. (mark) investigators looking into russia's meddling in the 2016 election now want to speak to six more witnesses including members of hillary clinton's campaign team. clinton's campaign chairman john podesta met with investigators behind closed doors yesterday. wikileaks released thousands of podesta's private emails during the campaign. investigators say the emails that were released were meant to hurt clinton's campaign. after his meeting, podesta defended the way the obama white administartion dealt with the russian hacking. < john podesta / hillary clinton campaign chairman"the president and his entire

administration were dealing with an unprecedented incidence of the weaponization of the fruits of russian cyberactivity and i think they were trying to make judgments they could on behalf of the american people." >(mark) next month, long-time trump associate roger stone will testify in front of members of congress. stone has come out defending the trump administration saying there was no collusion between the president and the russians. (darya) a fight between several women breaks out inside a dollar tree store and it's all caught on camera. it happened in columbus georgia on tuesday. police say two groups of women got into an argument at another store. they then walked into the dollar tree and someone bumped into one of the women, which sparked the brawl. four women are now being charged with disorderly conduct... including a 14- year-old girl. (darya) a violent road rage confrontation in arizona is caught on camera. it happened on tuesday evening when two drivers were seen cutting each other off.

when they come to a stop light... a man gets out of his car, breaks the drivers side window of the other car and punches the driver. that driver then gets out of his car and starts smashing the back window of the other car. the two men turned themselves into police and said they didn't want to press charges on each other. but police are now charging them with disorderly conduct and disrupting a roadway. (mark) we are now hearing from the owner of that 20-pound lobster found in someone's luggage at boston's logan international airport. (darya) she says she is personally offended that t-s-a shared a picture of it on social media.(mark) lisa feinman owns a seafood market in connecticut. feinman says she packed the lobster in a cooler with other lobsters for a customer.(darya) she criticized the way the agent held the lobster... saying he

(mark) travelers go to pick up their luggage after a flight... and live crabs flood the baggage claim carousel. (darya) you can see the crabs coming out as the carousel spins after they escaped their (mark) this video was posted to youtube on friday. it's not clear what airport it happened at... but the comments on the video suggest it was a flight from ghana to new york. one man was scrambling to pick up the crabs and putting them back into a cooler. ( mark ) firefighters are getting an upper hand on a fire burning in marin county. the fire started yesterday morning. about 38- acres have burned so far and it is 78- percent contained. the fire burned in a remote area of marin county near kent lake. ( mark ) and firefighters continue to battle other wildfires across the state. the hill fire is burning east of santa margarita... near san luis obispo. so far, the flames have burned 12- hundred acres. that fire

has destroyed the home of actor jhonny galecki who plays the character "leonard" in "the big bang theory." it is 40- percent contained this morning. in los angeles county- a car crash caused the manzanita wildfire. it has burned nearly 6-thousand acres. it is 20-percent contained. the mart fire in highland... east of los angeles... quickly grew to about 300 acres yesterday afternoon. that fire forced several people to evacuate their homes yesterday. those evacuations have since been lifted. ( darya ) people of color in san francisco receive more serious charges when compared to white people and the public defender's office is making changes because of that. the findings were released by the quattrone center for the fair administration of justice. as a result... starting in october the public defender's office is launching a new "pre-trial release unit." it will allow the public defender's office to represent people shortly after an arrest... rather than waiting until an arraignment.

( darya ) a robber is still on the loose this morning after police lifted a shelter in place overnight in belmont. the robbery happened in the parking lot of the carlmont shopping center on alameda de las pulgas. (ááátriggerááá) witnesses say the thief ran into a drainpipe under the shopping center. police searched the area for two hours, but couldn't find him. belmont police eventually called off the search and the area is

( mark ) more child sex abuse charges have been filed against a counselor at a center for at-risk boys in sonoma county. 39-year-old kevin thorpe is now charged with 15 counts of sex abuse of a child. officials say thorpe molested two young boys several times between 2006 and 20-11. thorpe worked at the hanna boys center in sonoma. police believe that is where some of the crimes took place. thorpe's bail is set at one million dollars. he has not entered a plea. ( mark ) the city of san jose plans to crackdown on efforts to feed the homeless at a popular park. several homeless people flock to saint james park because they can often find a hot meal provided by church groups. beginning in august police will enforce a ban on the illegal distribution of food. after august 5th violators will be cited. it's part of the city's effort to get homeless off the streets. but long time homeless advocates say that the plan will just cause the homeless to go to surrounding .

( darya ) a string of mail thefts has some people who live in the east bay frustrated with the postal service. and many are hoping they will finally get some help. in one of the thefts... a man gets caught on surveillance video stealing mail at the camden housing complex in hayward. some residents say they have not received mail in weeks. one woman says neighbors have sent videos to the police and the postal service.. police say they are investigating. they are asking people to keep sending videos to help catch the thieves. for kristaps porzingis, madison square garden chairman james dolan reversed course and cut ties with the team president. dolan said in a statement tuesday that the team would be "going in a different direction." the move comes less than a week after jackson led the knicks through the nba draft and on the eve of free agency that opens saturday. the winner of an nba-record 11 championships as coach, jackson couldn't engineer one playoff berth as an executive. the knicks were 80-166 in his three full seasons, including a franchise-worst 17-65 in 2014-15.

exotic birds is causing problems for one neighborhood in the east bay. there are so many birds that neighbors in castro valley have made numerous complaints about noise, odor and an infestation of flies. deputies from the alameda county sheriffs office visited the home yesterday after a previous visit with state fish and game officials. they told the woman who lives there that she has 30 days to reduce the number of birds to 50. the homeowner had as many as five hundred exotic birds on the property. ( darya ) the gunman wanted for shooting a sacramento sheriff's deputy in the face is now in custody. the deputy was shot in the face after a fight with the man at a train station yesterday. the 27 year- old gunman then ran into a nearby red roof inn hotel. that's where he was taken into custody late last night. the sheriff deputy who was shot is a four year veteran of the department. he is in stable condition and had to have surgery on his jaw. (mark) police are cracking down on illegal fireworks as the fourth of july approaches. newark police had a significant undercover bust this week, and it all started with a craigslist ad. this is video of the illegal fireworks that have been confiscated. they are at a remote location in alameda county while the sheriff's office's bomb squad sorts through it. police officers in newark found someone trying to sell the fireworks on craigslist, so they set up an undercover buy. they found nearly 400 pounds of illegal fireworks in one man's home. sergeant

( darya ) people of color in san francisco receive more serious charges when compared to white people and the public defender's office is making changes because of that. the findings were released by the quattrone center for the fair administration of justice. as a result... starting in october the public

( mark ) more child sex abuse charges have been filed against a counselor at a center for at-risk boys in sonoma county. 39-year-old kevin thorpe is now charged with 15 counts of sex abuse of a child. officials say thorpe molested two young boys several times between 2006 and 20-11. thorpe worked at the hanna boys center in sonoma. police believe that is where some of the crimes took place. thorpe's bail is set at one million dollars. he has not entered a plea. ( mark ) the city of san jose plans to crackdown on efforts to feed the homeless at a popular park. several homeless people flock to saint james park because they can often find a hot meal provided by church groups. beginning in august police will enforce a ban on the illegal distribution of food. after august 5th violators will be cited. it's part of the city's effort to get

( mark ) california governor jerry brown has signed a 125 billion dollar budget to increase funding for schools, prisons, and social-services. the spending plan kicks in july first. the budget increases spending for "k through 12 schools" and community colleges by three billion dollars. it also includes rules for the state's budding marijuana industry and an effort to stop the growth of federal immigration detention in california.

( mark ) breaking news just in to the kron4 newsroom. the homeland security department is set to announce new security measures for international flights bound to the united states. u.s. officials say airports and airlines around the world will be required to implement the new measures. and if they don't, their passengers may be barred from carrying laptops and other large electronics in passenger cabins. a laptop ban has already been in place at 10 airports in the middle east and africa. the new policy could lead to those bans being lifted. there has been no timeline on when this new security policy will go into effect. getting ready to defend travelers at airports across the nation. this comes as president trump's travel ban is set to take effect tomorrow. immigrant- rights lawyers say they are planning to go to major airports to make sure eligible foreigners are able to get into the country. attorney's don't expect a repeat of the mass confusion that resulted earlier this year when president trump implemented his original ban. but the department of homeland security has yet to say how they will enforce the ban, so lawyers are preparing for anything and will monitor the airports tomorrow morning. of santa margarita... near san luis obispo. so far, the flames have burned 12- hundred acres. that fire has destroyed the home of actor jhonny galecki who plays the character "leonard" in "the big bang theory." it is 40- percent contained this morning. in los angeles county- a car crash caused the manzanita wildfire. it has burned nearly 6-thousand acres. it is 20-percent contained. the mart fire in highland... east of los angeles... quickly grew to about 300 acres yesterday afternoon. that fire forced several people to evacuate their homes yesterday. those evacuations have since been lifted. ( darya ) people of color in san francisco receive more serious charges when compared to white people and the public defender's office is making changes because of that. the findings were released by the quattrone center for the fair administration of justice. as a result... starting in october the public defender's office is launching a new "pre-trial release unit." it will allow the public defender's office to represent people shortly after an arrest... rather than waiting

( darya ) a robber is still on the loose this morning after police lifted a shelter in place overnight in belmont. the robbery happened in the parking lot of the carlmont shopping center on alameda de las pulgas. (ááátriggerááá) witnesses say the thief ran into a drainpipe under the shopping center. police searched the area for two hours, but couldn't find him. belmont police eventually called off the search and the area is back open this morning. ( darya ) more child sex abuse charges have been filed against a counselor at a center for at-risk boys in sonoma county. 39-year-old kevin thorpe is now charged with 15 counts of sex abuse of a child. officials say thorpe molested

two young boys several times between 2006 and 20-11. thorpe worked at the hanna boys center in sonoma. police believe that is where some of the crimes took place. thorpe's bail is set at one million dollars. he has not entered a plea. ( mark ) the city of san jose plans to crackdown on efforts to feed the homeless at a popular park. several homeless people flock to saint james park because they can often find a hot meal provided by church groups. beginning in august police will enforce a ban on the illegal distribution of food. after august 5th violators will be cited. it's part of the city's effort to get homeless off the streets. but long time homeless advocates say that the plan will just cause the homeless to go to surrounding neighborhoods. ( darya ) a string of mail thefts has some people who live in the east bay frustrated with the postal service. and many are hoping they will finally get some help. in one of the thefts... a man gets caught on surveillance video stealing mail at the camden housing complex in hayward. some residents say they have not received mail in weeks. one woman says neighbors have sent videos to the police and the postal service.. police say they are investigating. they are asking people to keep sending videos to help catch the thieves. birds is causing problems for one neighborhood in the east bay. there are so many birds that neighbors in castro valley have made numerous complaints about noise, odor and an infestation of flies. deputies from the alameda county sheriffs office visited

the home yesterday after a previous visit with state fish and game officials. they told the woman who lives there that she has 30 days to reduce the number of birds to 50. the homeowner had as many as five hundred exotic birds on the property. ( darya ) the state of rhode island wants to make the parents of teenagers take a driver's education class before they can teach their own kids how to drive.( mark ) the class would be free but it would be required for all parents of drivers under 18 years old. state lawmakers say that teenage drivers are safer when parents are more educated on driving laws.( darya ) critics say the law would be a burden for parents and they suggest that the state just create a manual for parents. the bill has already passed the state legislature and now just needs the governor's approval.
