topples over.sot: robbie treimcheny, evacuee// "i saw the fire it was directly below my apartment. the crane is going to land one of i believe five places. either the empty parking across the street, my bedroom, the small business and housing that is across from me, or the parking garage." the red cross offer food and an overnight shelter for evacuees at grand and san pablo a few blocks from the fire. but only a handful of people - if that - showed up for the help.sot: robbie treimcheny, evacuee// "i would assume that for residents for this building at least a shelter is not something they have to immediately jump to think about."tenants of 100 grand say they are all required to have renter's insurance so most have arranged to stay at a hotel or with friends.sot: mark bagnall, evacuee// "i've found a place to stay and luckily i have insurance that will cover the cost of that."this being the third fire this year at large scale apartment construction site in the area - suspicion has risen among developers whether housing projects are being targeted by arsonists.sot: gregg mcconnell, jobs and housing coalition president // "they
are rattled. they are wondering if this is the work of some anti-development arson group of individuals. we don't know yet. we have suspicions but we don't know for sure." mcconnell is worried if the fire may be a sign of opposition to a developing oakland that could price out long-time locals.sot: gregg mcconnell, jobs and housing coalition president // "we're not subtracting we're adding housing and adding housing doesn't push people out."sot: mark bagnall, evacuee// "it might be but it seems foolish. it seems that if we build more buildings the rent will come down."the cause of the fire is under investigation. the fire. arson investigators won't be able to go into the site until the crane is down. the crane is also stopping people from being able to return to their homes nearby.
