marin county is dealing with a threat of campus violence. most recently, someone scrawled graffiti in a campus bathroom...stating there were be a shooting at the school. the threat was made for tomorrow... on halloween. so the larkspur school is telling students... they cannot wear costumes to campus. last month, graffiti was also found in a bathroom...thr eatening a shooting on campus. police are still investigating that incident. and earlier in september, a student called in a bomb threat at redwood. a senior at the school was arrested and charged for that incident. (vicki) police in east palo alto are searching for a 17 year old boy who went missing late last week.(grant) kron four's rob fladeboe joins us now from menlo park, one of the last places where 17 year old jonathon bedolla was last seen. rob? (rob live) police think jonathon bedolla might have been here in the vicinty of the menlo park caltrain

station before he went missing last thursday. they have no reason to think jonathon met with foul play but they and others are very concerned about him nonetheless. this is a recent photo of 17 year old jonathon bedolla. east palo alto police, where jonathon lives, say that despite numerous calls and text messages sent by his worried family, jonathon has not responded. a ping from his cell phone placed the missing teen near the menlo park caltrain station on thursday, october 26, where police say he may have gotten onto a train. he was last seen about 5 o'clock that same day, leaving his job at stanford shopping center in palo alto. jonathon attends serra high school in san mateo where the administration sent out a statement expressing it's deep concern for jonathon's well being. the statement asks that"all of you pray for jonny's well being and safe return" and to "pray for him to come home safely right away." here is east palo alto police sergeant clint simmont.sgt. clint simmont/east palo alto police ".....after speaking with his

president trump is distancing himself and the white house from the indictments....tweeting that paul manafort's alleged misdeeds happened "years ago." sanders: he responded the same way the rest of us in the white house have and that is without a lot of reaction. we're not worried about it distracting because it doesn't have anything to do with us, because this is something that was action that took place outside of the campaign or campaign activity.manafort's attorney - there is no evidence that mr. manafort or the trump campaign colluded with the russian government but former trump campaign foreign policy adviser george papadpoulos pleaded guilty earlierthis month to lying to the fbi about his contacts with russians tied to the kremlin...including one claiming to have "dirt on hillary clinton. and news of the plea deal he made has apparently blind-sided the president... it's an unexpected twist in the unfolding drama around the russian investigation...

when asked if the president is considering the possibility of issuing pardons in the investigation - the white house press secretary says it's too early to consider that. vicki and grant? (vicki) a federal judge has blocked parts of the trump administration's transgender military ban. the block forbids the military from enforcing president trump's ban... it would prohibit transgender people from enlisting or re-enlisting. the court upheld the portion of the directive that blocks military personnel from having reassignment surgery. the ruling states that plaintiffs have established that the ban injures transgender people and imposes inequality on them. the judge says they are likely to win the case because the ban violates their fifth amendment right to due process. (grant) california drivers already pay some of the highest gas taxes in the nation... and we are about to pay even more. the gas tax bill will go into effect wednesday. under the bill... the price of gas will jump 12-cent per gallon... vehicle registration fees will

also increase. the bill was passed and signed by governor brown in april... it is designed to help fund transportation projects like fixing old roads and bridges...and reducing freeway congestion. some drivers are filling up their tanks before the tax goes into effect. "it's a few dollars every time you fill up especially this thing. that's why i'm filling this up because it's empty. haha. it takes a lot to fill it up so but you know it's gonna be a dollar or two more each time you fill up, but it adds up you know over time." the gas tax bill is expected to raise about 5-billion dollars a year. (grant) here's a look at gas prices around the bay area right now... in san jose it's $3.01 for a gallon of regular gas. in oakland it's $3.07. and san francisco is also the most expensive-- at $3.18 for a gallon of gas. been declared the most destructive wildfire in california's history... destroying over 5-thousand buildings. (vicki) a teenage girl has died... three weeks after she was severely burned in a fire that tore through mendocino county. her death raises the number of those killed in the state's wildfires to 43. according to the "santa rosa press democrat"... 17-year-old kressa shepherd died last night. doctors performed a cat scan... and determined she was brain-dead. kressa's brother -- 14-year-old kai shepherd -- was among the youngest who died in the wildfires. the shepherd family tried escaping the flames in their car... but their car caught fire. (grant) and families affected by the deadly firestorm are slowly getting back to something resembling normal life. kron 4's lydia pantazes was there today as more students returned to school in santa rosa. happening today... more students in santa rosa will return to school for the first time since the deadly firestorm. 11 schools are

washington, d=c... by a razor=thin margin. the 'robert half executive recruiting firm' says the average round=trip commute time in the nation's capital is 60=point=42 minutes... compared to san francisco's 59=point=two-zero minutes. that works out to 73 seconds. natheading west on the bay bridge in the evening.the grinding daily backup has helped to put san francisco near the top of the nation's worst cities for commuters.the new report is based on surveys with more than 27=hundred workers in 27 metropolitan areas.here are the top five.you can see there isn't much of a spread ... just seven minutes total.los angeles is in eighth place ... but its commuters are the unhappiest in the country.san francisco is the only city to make the top five in both commute time and stress.others on the stress list are miami, number two, followed by austin, texas and phoenix,

(grant) new information tonight in the arrest of oakland a's catcher bruce maxwell. police say he showed signs of intoxication when he was arrested following accusations that he pointed a handgun at the head of a woman in scottsdale. it happened when she was delivering food to his home. records released today give more details on his arrest, but don't offer an explanation for why he allegedly pointed the gun at the driver. maxwell has denied the accusations. you might remember... maxwell was the only player in major league baseball to take a knee this year during the national anthem to protest racial injustice. (vicki) a team of norwegian researchers is linking acetaminophen to a-d-h-d.(grant) acetaminophen is the active ingredient in tylenol and hundreds of other over-the- counter and prescription drugs. researchers studied 95-thousand mothers over ten years... and discovered women who consumed the drug while pregnant increased their risk of having a child with a-d-h-d by 220 percent. (vicki) researchers say this only applies to women who took the drug for a month or longer during pregnancy. however--- they cite the lack of a standard in diagnosing the condition as a major flaw in the research. according to the c-d-c, 65 percent of american women use acetaminophen during pregnancy

from the new england patriots.. in exchange for a second round draft pick next year. more ont he trade coming up at six... and we'll also hear from the two sailors that were rescued after 5 months adrift in the pacific... and how their dogs helped them stay hopeful. it's all coming up at six.. but right now let's get back to the (vicki) the murder trial of kate steinle enters its second week. and today-- the police office who helped supervise the investigation took the stand. officer john evans testified about the bullet's trajectory. he says the bullet ricocheted off the ground -- about 100 yards away before hitting kate steinle in the back. officer evans says investigators found a mark on the pier's concrete floor-- four days after the shooting. lawyers for jose garcia zarate argue that the ricochet shows the shooting was accidental. prosecutors charged garcia zarate with murder because they say he meant to point the gun at a crowd of people and pulled the trigger.

(vicki) police in modesto are investigating a deadly drive-by shooting... and the victim was just 5-years-old. tonight-- we are hearing the emotional plea from the little boy's mother. reporter ken mashinchi has the story. asia thompson/mother"his smile! his smile was gold, the boy was golden."mom asia thompson does not hide her pride and love for her son xavier.asia thompson/mother"my son was amazing he was my everything."thompson tells me her five year old wanted to be a professional football player and a pro wrestler some day. sadly, that day will never come...saturday night xavier was in his family's garage when he was shot in what modesto police say was a drive by shooting.the young boy was rushed to a hospital, fighting for his life the entire time his mom says.asia thompson/mother"it took everything out of him i can only imagine what he was thinking."xavier didn't make it...he died at the hospital. in the past 24 hours, thompson

his injuries are reportedly non-life- threatening. no word yet on any suspects or a possible motive. (grant) police say they added more security at california's great america amusement park in the south bay. this after chaos erupted during a halloween event over the weekend. the santa clara police department says they received reports of fights and thefts happening in the park saturday night. multiple people suffered minor injuries and several cell phones were stolen in the chaos. police confirmed that a taser was used on a person who was trying to steal a cell phone. that person got away. two people were arrested. (grant) police in san jose are searching for a driver after he injured an officer during a sideshow. it happened around 10 last night on hostetter road near interstate 680. the officer was treated at the hospital for non-life threatning injuries. the driver left the scene. he was last seen driving in a maroon or brown nissan 240-s-x-e. five drivers have already been arrested in connection to this sideshow.

(vicki) retailers are set to scare up a record nine- point-one billion dollars in halloween sales this year. (grant) that's according to a survey released by the national retail federation. people are expected to spend three-point-four billion on costumes, two-point-seven billion on candy, and two-point-seven billion on decorations. americans are set to shell out an average of just over 86 bucks each.

a young father is critically injured in a hit and run and now san pablo police are searching for the driver.good evening i'm steve avesonand i'm catherine heenan... pam is off tonight. the collision happened on emeric avenue not far from rumrill boulevard.that's where kron4's maureen kelly talked to the family friend the young man was visiting right before he was sent flying by the impact. robert armstong had just finished sunday dinner a little after 7pm october 22nd at this house on emeric avenue. the accident happened just after he'd walking back

across the street after escorting his girlfriend and their two three year old twins to their car.i seen people running toward him and when i got there i thought maybe he was gone that's what i thought that's what i thought the way his body was mangled really i thought that was the end of him.charlotte sherman says the 22 year old flew up 15 feet.which is higher than her house.and he came down hard, two door down. he's listed in critical by stable condition at john muir hospital.he suffered some severe head trauma as well as injuries to visit as well as injuries to his upper torsosan pablo police say the suspect vehcile was last headed east on emeric. come on the tip line and we are working all of the leads very aggressively and we are confident something is going to come of this case">in discovery bay haaziq madyun kron4news ( steve ) in the east bay: a man who fremont police say gave them the slip over the weekend during a standoff is in custody tonight. police say they are currently talking with 41-year-old thomas beltran after he turned himself in today. officers were called out to a home in the city's glenmoor neighborhood on saturday morning. they say beltran's girlfriend reported he had attacked her. a swat arrived a short time later...and after nine hours they went inside only to discover beltran was gone. ( catherine ) new at six: a serial robbery suspect is under arrest tonight in san jose.... and police are looking for more possible victims to come forward. 21-year-old lawrence carter is accused of at least seven robberies targeting elderly east indian and asian women. investigators say he'd approach them and yank gold chains off their necks. police have released this

has died... three weeks after she was severely burned in a fire that tore through mendocino county. her death raises the number of those killed in the state's wildfires to 43. according to the "santa rosa press democrat"... 17-year-old kressa shepherd died last night. doctors performed a cat scan... and determined she was brain-dead. kressa's brother -- 14-year-old kai shepherd -- was among the youngest who died in the wildfires. the shepherd family tried escaping the flames in their car... but their car caught fire. ( steve ) turning to the north bay wildfires... and this is shaping a pretty big week as the region looks to move forward.( catherine ) cal fire is very close to having the fires contained... and life is slowly getting back to normal. grant lodes is here with the updates.

( grant ) steve and catherine... another good sign today out of santa rosa which has been especially devastated. students returned to class at santa rosa high school... it was one of eleven schools where classes resumed today. 13 other schools in the city started up again last friday. the school district is making sure it is looking out for the children. counselors are on hand... and breakfast and lunch are being offered for free for the rest of the year. students we talked to this morning know they are walking into a delicate situation and say they know some of their classmates have had a horrific few weeks.

( grant ) now for an update on the fires themselves. cal fire expects to have all the major north bay wildfires contained by tomorrow. the tubbs, nuns and pocket fires are 99-percent contained. the atlas fire which devastated napa county was fully contained on friday. the tubbs fire has already been declared the most destructive wildfire in california's history. it destroyed nearly 29-hundred homes just in santa rosa. releasing arial pictures of the motorcycle sideshow that happened over the weekend. the sideshow started around 1:00 pm saturday with about 200 motorcycles on highway 880 in oakland. c-h-p chased several motorcycles into the castro valley area. officers followed them onto city streets where they arrested four motorcyclists. another biker was found and arrested in redwood city. the riders are facing charges of suspicion of reckless driving and felony evasion of a law enforcement officer.
