(ken)many, told to evacuate as soon as possible ... as hurricane florence gears up to make landfall. (pam) good evening i'm pam moore... a perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances means florence could deal a devastating blow to the southeast. (ken) and i'm ken wayne. forecasters say, florence will only get stronger as it makes landfall.. and the hurricane's storm surge has the potential to be deadly. (pam) aside from the mammoth coastal flooding that is expected, florence will likley cause massive flooding for inland cities as well. that means ... it is barreling towards people who are accustomed to major hurricanes. (ken) karin cafia has the latest from wrightsville beach, north carolina.. gov. roy cooper, north carolina: "this storm is going to be intense, likely historic, and deadly."

hurricane florence is intensifying as it rumbles towards the carolinas. it's barreling towards an area not used to hurricanes this big. the category 4 florence is expected to become the most destructive hurricane to hit this far north on the east coast since 1954. mos: "over the years i have seen the damage that these storms can do. so, i don't really want to take any chances."rep. tom rice, (r) south carolina: "if you stay, and you get stuck in this, you're on your own." forecasters say the storm has potential to strengthen even more-- and bring 157-mile per hour winds when it makes landfall. and as people along the coast pack up and make their way inland-- help from around the country is on the way,an oklahoma utility company is sending dozens of trucks and workers to north carolina. oklahoma gas & power official: "the biggest challenge is getting everyone there safely." several states are also sending assistance-- help is coming from as far away as california-- where firefighters have started the long trek to lend a hand.fema is ramping up preparations, and gathering water, meals, and generators to distribute as needed. voice of jeff byard/ fema associate administrator for response and recovery: "this is a powerful storm that has the potential to lose life if the warnings are not heeded."in wrightsville beach, nc i'm karina caifa.

(pam) new tonight at ten: this is not something you see everyday .... traffic on all lanes on a major highway in south carolina going one way ... as residents evacuate ahead of hurricane florence. south carolina highway patrol tweeted this video ... saying they were leading residents eastbound to charleston. an evacuation of south carolina's coast was ordered by gov. henry mcmaster for all counties... that means potentially millions of people are trying to leave the area. (ken) here is a live look at san francisco airport where airlines are beginning to cancel flights ahead of florence making landfall. charleston airport in south carolina is tweeting that it expects runways to close by midnight tomorrow. southwest airlines' website showed that it had canceled at least a half-dozen flights to and from charleston today. the tracking service flight-aware dot com showed that, american airlines had canceled more than 50 american eagle regional flights both tomorrow and thursday.american said the storm was responsible for

cancellations to and from the north carolina cities of fayetteville, greenville, jacksonville, new bern and wilmington. we want to check in on hurricanes now in the atlantic and pacific oceans... our chief meterologist lawrence karnow is here with the latest... lawrence karnow: it was another beautiful day with sunny skies all the way to the coast. highs today soared into the 80s inland with sunny 70s at the coast. hurricane florence continues to look like a very dangerous storm. she is currently a category 4 storm and headed directly toward the east coast. tropical storm olivia is now approaching the hawaiin islands. it will bring heavy rain and gusty winds tonight as it moves through. on the satellite image we an area of low pressure to the north. that system will drop into the bay area as early as tomorrow. it will bring more clouds and much cooler temperatures. highs will be running as much as 5 to 15 degrees below normal with partly cloudy skies tomorrow. highs wil be in the low to mid 70s inland with 60s and 70s around the bay and 50s and 60s at the coast. temperatures will warm slightly into the weekend and return to normal next week. fire crews are on the front lines tonight...battling two wildfires in the bay area. (pam) our grant lodes has been tracking the progress firefighters are making... and there is good news tonight .... for people who were forced to evacuate. (grant) as of a little earlier this evening...all evacuation orders were lifted for the irving fire...burning in western marin near lagunitis and samuel p taylor state park... however more than 50 households are without power. this is video from last night when there was no containment and there was concern this could spread to homes. within the hour...marin fire tweeted out that containment is up to 45 percent. the fire has burned at least 152 acres....but no structures damaged. but again, people are back home...though some of them are without power because

of the fire. all roads are back open. the cause is being investigated. and the snell fire, burning in napa county...is now 60 percent contained...aft er burning nearly 25-hundred acres since it started on saturday. this is video from over the weekend....when there were towering flames. towering n there were towering flames. all evacuation orders and road closures have also been lifted in that area...jsut south-east of middletown. there are still 11-hundred people working the fire...and cal fire does not expect this one to grow in size. investigators are working to determine what started this fire. (ken) a big story we are tracking.. after three decades, an accused sexual predator is off the streets... but now, some of the victims' cases can't be tried because it's too late.... investigators say the suspect targeted victims in two bay area counties... and they believe there are more victims

out there and authorities want them to come forward. kron 4's ali reid joins us live from redwood city tonight with the latest on the investigation... there could be victims far and wide.the suspect is known to have ties to san mateo county, and santa clara county.he also spent time in utah while evading law enforcement.pkg there are at least 4 known victims. his face looks to me familiarauthorities say latu lavaki is a sexual predator and victimzed many girls over the past few decades.some of them we weren't able to prosecute because the statute of limitations has run outon monday ... the 62 year old was prosecuted in superior court for an assault that allegedly happened in 2005. he's being charged with 2 counts of lewd

the aftermath of a deadly shooting. a witness who captured this video says it shows off duty police officer amber guyger... distraught... and pacing... on the balcony of her dallas apartment complex. demands for answers in dallas are growing louder... as contradicting stories emerge over the death of 26 year old botham jean... and witnesses give more perpsective on what happened. "they both heard a knock or a pounding on the door. the one who was closer to the scene in her bedroom reading a book ... she heard pounding followed by a female's voice saying open up, let me in. she said that was shortly followed by the sound of gunshots and the sound of a man's voice saying she believed to be oh my god, why did you do that?" released september 19th - five years earlier than expected. she and her husband, brian mitchell, were convicted of abducting the then 14-year-old smart at knifepoint from her salt lake city bedroom .smart was rescued nine months later. mitchell - who smart said raped her several times - was sentenced to life in prison in 2011.smart said in a statement that she is disappointed by the decision to release barzee. she called it surprising and "incomprehensible." moments an l-a-p-d officer was shot. (pam) the video is revealing new details about where the suspect was hiding a gun. dan lopez shows us. according to the lapd it was supposed to be a routine investigative stop. it was anything but this is body cam video from the female officer who was shot. the lapd froze the video after the shots were fired. this is lapd dash cam video that shows the suspect richard mendoza a known gang member, opening fire on the female officer and then firing at her partner who is hiding behind the car. the body cam video shows her partner rushing around the car firing at mendoza hitting him several times. mendoza died later that night. the female officer was hit in the leg. the body cam from the female officer mainly shows the top of mendoza's head. but it is her partner's body cam that clearly shows inside the car. mendoza has his handgun hidden in the console where neither officer could see it. the video is frozen. the red circle to show

fire fighting is a very dangerous profession. we have one to two fires a day and when you respond together and you put your lives on the line, you do have to surround yourself with experts. and for us the expert in gas and electric is pg&e. we run about 2,500/2,800 fire calls a year and on almost every one of those calls pg&e is responding to that call as well. and so when we show up to a fire and pg&e shows up with us it makes a tremendous team during a moment of crisis.

storm and headed directly toward the east coast. tropical storm olivia is now approaching the hawaiin islands. it will bring heavy rain and gusty winds tonight as it moves through. on the satellite image we an area of low pressure to the north. that system will drop into the bay area as early as tomorrow. it will bring more clouds and much cooler temperatures. highs will be running as much as 5 to 15 degrees below normal with partly cloudy skies tomorrow. highs wil be in the low to mid 70s inland with 60s and 70s around the bay and 50s and 60s at the coast. temperatures will warm slightly into the weekend and return to normal next week.
