( darya ) a big story this morning.. evacuations and road closures are in effect for butte county after flash flooding hit the burn areas. rescue teams were deployed in the afternoon to rescue people from three homes on horse run lane... which is a low lying area below paradise near highway 99. officials in butte county ordering people to stay away from their homes because a high amount of rain could cause mudslides. officials sya they will re- evaulate the conditions this morning to see if they can lift evacuation orders. ( james ) this morning we have stunning police dash cam video showing how a sheriff's deputy managed to escape northern california's camp fire. the butte county sheriff's office released this video from deputy aaron parmley. he had gone out to help evacuate four nurses from a hospital in paradise. however... parmley's car
soon became disabled and the deputy had to walk out through the fire. the sheriff's office says parmley turned on his camera because he believed he was going to die. but thankfully, an bulldozer arrived to rescue him and others. ( james ) on the peninsula... a car thief has been arrested after trying to hide from deputies in a creek. here a picture from san mateo sheriff's office. deupties did not provide the identification of the man but say he was wanted for car thefts from wednesday night and yesterday morning. deputies say after ditching a fourth stolen car... this man attempted to hide from officers in the creek by the ritz carlton. he was arrested shortly after dupties found him. ( darya ) police in healdsburg are looking for a a bank robber they believe is connected to multiple robberies in the north bay.
yesterday officers say this man walked into the chase bank on vine street with a note demanding money. they say after receiving an unknown amount of money he walked left heading towards the dollar tree. police say the man appears to match security video from bank robberies in cloverdale on the 16th and another robbery at the exchange bank in santa rosa on the 19th. ( darya ) in the east bay... off-duty c-h-p officers were able to detain a man after he ran away from a hit-and-run. here is a picture of the driver officers said hit multple cars on eastboudn 80 near central avenue. the driver's car did overturn... he was able to escape the car and attempted to run away. the officers began running after the driver and were able to arrest him a short time later. the driver had minor injureis from the accident and was treated at a local hospital. he has been booked into the santa rita jail. growing immigration crisis. newsom spoke in san ysidro yesterday talking about the issues after a large group of central american migrants gathered in tijuana. the refugee camp is overflowing with migrants waiting to seek asylum in the u-s. mexican officials say more than 58-hundred people are now livinig there. tijuana's mayor says it's a crisis and is calling for humanitarian aid. newsom addressed the issue.

has finally been getting a good dose of rain. the question now is how much of that water is being captured for use next summer. right now there are early signs that the resevoirs could be filling up. yesterday afternoon the spillway below lake lagunitas in marin county was gushing with water... for months the spillway has been bone dry. the return of rain has sent water gushing down the slopes of mount tamalpais, filling up the reservoirs. as of right now, the reservoirs in marin are about 72-pecent full. that's slightly more water than this time last year.
reservoirs are about 27 percent full. ( darya ) the heavy rain from yesterday's storm forced a few trees down across the bay area. over saturation and poor up-keep led this old oak tree to topple over on richmond boulevard in oakland. veteran trimmer phillip byers with vega's tree service says another company had maintained the oak over the years. but didn't recognize in the time the leaning limbs were hazardous. it ended up landing on a car parked in the driveway... ( darya ) the downed tree also knocked out some power lines... leaving several neighbors without electricity. down the street... drivers navigated through deep puddles of standing water. and in moraga, the contra costa county public works department responded to a
landslide on pinehurst road.
