( james ) happening now. police are looking for the driver of an s-u-v that hit and killed a man riding a bike in east san jose. it happened yesterday afternoon at the intersection of story road and south jackson avenue. a suburban hit the victim on his bike.crash the driver ran away. a nearby restaurant owner says that intersection can be dangerous. imrry for the family for what happened to the person that died in there that's something bad for the community.>( james ) police say the driver of the s-u-v also hit a blue pickup truck before killing the bicyclist. that person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. police say it's the 31st fatal crash this year in san jose. ( james ) in the east bay -- a 12-year-old girl is recovering after suffering a head injury in a hit-and-run. it happened yesterday morning on sunset road in brentwood. police say the girl was walking to school when she was hit by an s-u-v
driven by a 50-year-old woman. the girl was airlifted to a hospital in sacramento. the driver left the scene ... but police tracked her down and made an arrest. the woman is charged with felony hit and run and suspicion of d-u-i. ( james ) new this morning --- authorities have identified an additional victim from the gilroy garlic festival shooting. police recently learned that a 58-year-old man was grazed by a bullet and needed a few stitches. this brings to 17 the number of people injured in the shooting. the gunman shot and killed three... including a 6- year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl and a 25-year old man. an investigation into the gunman's motive is still underway. ( james ) oakland police are looking for the person who shot two men just off market street. these are pictures from the scene. police say, it happened just before 2:30 thursday on 61st-street. officers say - -they found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. it is not clear what prompted the shooting. ( james ) in national
headlines. the brother of olympic gold medalist simone biles has been charged in a triple murder. 24-year-old tevin biles-thomas was arrested overnight and charged with multiple counts of murder in cleveland, ohio. police say the new year's eve shooting took place during a party at a cleveland apartment operating as an airbnb. witnesses say an "uninvited group" went into the apartment and gunshots were fired. biles-thomas is accused of being the shooter. simone bile has yet to comment on her brother's arrest. ( james ) developing this morning. two stolen dogs have been found safe after they were stolen from a dog rescue in san francisco. one other dog is still missing. áfamily dog rescueá says -- two purebred huskies and a pitbull were stolen wednesday night during a break-in. the huskies have been found. now the rescue is hoping for the safe return of the pitbull puppy. if you have any information about where the puppy is -- you are asked to call the family dog rescue in san francisco. pricesfell for the third month in a row in july. the latest price was 815- thousand dollars down from $856-thousand dollars in june, a drop of 4.7 percent. prices are down 4 percent from july of last year. last month six of the nine counties in the bay area saw year-over-year declines in the median home price. that's the first time since february 2012 that so many counties saw annual declines. ( james ) an arrest warrant has been issued for former warriors' center demarcus cousins. the warrant is for misdemeanor domestic violence. it was processed in his hometown of mobile, alabama. this comes just days after his former girlfriend released audio of a someone she claims to be cousins, threatening to shoot her in the head. as of now, no arrests have been made. the n-b-a and cousins' new team --- the l-a lakers --- are also investigating the incident. ( james ) the u-s coast guard has seized more than 38 million dollars worth of
cocaine from drug smugglers. authorities believe cartels have been smuggling the drugs. the california based coast guard crew spent the past 50 days patrolling the eastern pacific ocean. in san francisco is out thousands of dollars after thieves burglarized the restaurant during an early-morning break-in. kung food is known for its authentic chinese food but owner andy yang has a troubling feeling in the pit of his stomach. security video from earlier in the month captured a thief breaking in to his restaurant on mcallsiter and divs near alamo square. the crook use cardboard boxes to block the cameras while they break the window right above the front door. the thief takes off with about 2-
thousand dollars in cash. ( james ) the thief has not been caught but yang suspects he has targeted other businesses in the area. ( james ) 18 new security cameras are now working along stockton street in san francisco's chinatown. city leaders announced thursday that the high definition cameras cover stockton street from the tunnel at sacramento street to washington streets. footage from the cameras will be used to help the community and police when criminal activity takes place. the new cameras come after a public meeting last month about security in chinatown. police say there have been at least 8 high profile violent attacks there. police have also beefed up foot patrols. the northeast community federal credit union and 's-f safe paid for those cameras. ( james ) in southern california. new sculptures are turning heads in one
orange county neighborhood. the sculptures outside the laguna beach city hall depict a group of men wearing hoodies with their faces blocked from the sun while taking part in outdoor activities. the city says the installation features five people playing lawn games and activities in the age of global warming. but the installation is getting mixed reviews. ( james ) the sculptures are set to be on display through october. kindergartner.kristin chronic/mother:"each christmas that was her santa claus gift." but now that she's a senior, she's outgrown the sophie wetzel/doll owner:"i've made some good money off of them." sophie sells her dolls on facebook marketplace and always met the buyers in a public place.natsot/wetzel: "everything went perfectly fine until..."natsot"get out my house!"happened.kristin chronic/mother:"i said what do you want and she's like 'i want natsot"get out!"a few days before this scuffle... sophie and her it would be exchange at home.kristin chronic/mother:"it should be a safe place, why not, it's an american girl doll. it's a grandma."they say the 64 year old woman bought the doll and left.but later, decided she wanted a different doll.sophie wetzel/doll owner:"she kept texting me and texting me i was like, 'no, i'm done with this.'"the next day, they say the woman showed up unannounced three times.sophie was home alone.sophie wetzel/doll owner:"maybe 10-15 minutes later, i was sitting down eating dinner. and then she came back, and so i hid under the table."sophie says her mom was there for the final visit.natsot"oh my god, get off!"sophie says she opened the woman forced her way inside.her mom, who was in the bathtub, ran downstairs with her phone recording. kristin chronic/mother:"i go to grab the doll to get it back to sophie. she comes up and grabs my neck."you can see a hand around kristin's neck. sophie wetzel/doll owner:"i was so scared, out."they say they finally got the woman to leave.natsot"that's why you don't have these people come over." chronic/mother:"just always be on the defense even when selling a sweet american girl doll to a sweet little assume that they are crazy."
francisco could soon be a temporary parking space for people living in their vehicles. the san francisco planning commission approved the plan ... which will provide 33 temporary spaces for r-v's or people sleeping in their cars. they can stay there for up to 90 days at a time. neighbors we spoke to say they're glad something is being done to help people who are homeless. ( james ) there will be
amenities on site like showers, rest rooms, kitchen, business center and security. the goal is to ultimately get people living in their vehicles into permanent housing. it's also worth noting the space is also a future site for an affordable housing complex slated construction for that will stt october 20-20. ( james ) a warning in the east bay... the east bay regional park district has posted an advisory about harmful algea blooms. the advisory is at big break regional shoreline in oakley-- at the kayak launch and around the fishing dock. health officials say blue-green algae was detected in the water. that specific algea can make people very sick ... and could kill pets if they come in contact. people are being told to stay out of the water-- and not to touch the algea in the water or on the shore. and pet owners should not let their dogs drink the water or go anywhere near it. ( james ) the homeless man accused of attacking a woman outside her embarcadero condo won't be getting out of jail any time soon. austin vincent had the charges from a different attack dropped yesterday after his lawyers proved vincent was in southern california at the time. they argued that with those charges dropped... vincent should get out of jail while awaiting trial. but the judge did not agree and vincent remains behind bars. a man representing a group trying to block a homeless center from going in next door
to where the attack happened says he's glad the defendant will stay locked up. ( james ) vincent has pleaded not guilty to the charges he still faces in this case... false imprisonment, attempted robbery and two counts of battery. ( james ) we now have video of a robbery we told you about earlier this week. it happened monday night at a pizza hut on tara hills drive in pinole. two robbers wearing masks stormed in... jumped the counter... then pointed a gun in an employee's face. at one point the thieves punched and kicked the victim before getting away with cash. police spotted the getaway car and pulled it over. officers arrested three men. all three are in jail on various charges including robbery. ( james ) vallejo police are looking for the people responsible for several car burglaries in a shopping center parking lot. kron4's
taylor bisacky reports on the new techniques theives are using in these kind of break- ins. thieves are using bluetooth devices and other technology to search for bluetooth and wifi signals. so what that means is even if you have your phone, computer or any of electronics are hidden...thieves are still able to find them.and that's exactly what happened in this case.(pkg) // butt // shoppers in vallejo reacting to this dramatic surveillance video that took place in this same parking lot off callaghan lane. // butt // vallejo police are looking for several suspects nvolved in this burglary last friday. while it may look random, police say the suspects used devices to locate electronics left in cars that are sending out wi- fi or bluetooth signals. stand-up: "so even if you have your device is hidden in a center console like this, thieves can still find it as long as the bluetooth or wif-fi is turned on"
in the south bay. the project to extend bart into santa clara county is getting 125-million dollars from the federal government. the second phase is a six - point -six mile project which adds four stations in san jose and santa clara. stations already finished in milpitas and san jose's berryessa neighborhood ... are already set to open this december the v-t-a got the federal money after putting up 75- percent of the cost locally. the agency plans to ask for a total of
another big story we're following this morning is hurricane dorian ... people are scrambling to get their final preperations done before the storm hits on labor day. dorian is now forecast to be a category 4 storm by the time it hits and officials are urging everyone to be ready. whitney wild has more.

( james ) 4 your health this morning --- americans spend more than three billion dollars a year on prescription drugs. and now california is pushing back on a practice by drug makers that contributes to the high cost of prescriptions. lawmakers say companies use so-called "pay for delay" deals to slow the release of generic prescription drugs --- so they can continue charging high prices. the state announced a 70-million dollar settlement with four drug companies caught using these

drug companies argue the law changes the framework for evaluating patent settlements and could risk generic medication remaining off the market. ( james ) a big scare at a south bay school ... after two mountain lions were spotted nearby. the first sighting happened around 8-30 thursday morning near the track at chaboya middle school. a shelter in place was ordered for both chaboya and nearby tom matsumota elementary schools. san jose police and fish and wildlife searched the area, but the big cat was gone. police say a neighbor saw a mountain lion in the same area wednesday morning. the shelter in place was lifted... but a "limited shelter in place" remains in effect... which will keep students indoors during p-e.
