away with almost 100 guns. a deadly case of domestic violence, a husband and wife found dead in an apparent murder-suicide. thank you for staying with us. i'm marie mortera. >> i'm reed cowan. we brought you this story as breaking news last night at 10:00. it's our top story at 7:00. news 3's antonio castelan spoke with neighbors about this say that a 38-year-old man shot his wife, then took his own life. the clark county coroner still has not positive i identified the couple. police say that the 41-year-old woman was in the process of leaving the home. people living at this henderson community are still in shock over the murder-suicide that happened last night. >> this is a pretty quiet neighborhood. we would wave at each other. >> reporter: this man who did

he heard gunshots ring out yesterday morning. police say after 6:00 last night, they received a call from a family member to check the house. when police entered the house, they found a man and woman dead. >> the enemy was inside. the gun was inside the house. it's not like someone broke in or someone assaulted they. >> reporter: police do say they responded to a recent domestic violence call at the home just about a month ago. no one knew much information about the couple found inside neighbors say the couple did have children. >> where will they be headed? no one knows. will they end up at a home? >> reporter: the court koi still has not positively identified the couple. police say the couple left behind a 14-year-old and 9-year-old daughter. antonio castelan, news 3. >> thank you. a murder victim's family members say they felt hike they've been in limbo waiting for the trial in their case to

teachers suddenly laid off from itt college. the lawsuit said the company didn't give the 8,000 employees 60 days' notice. there were mass layoffs that took a lot of people by surprise. they say this is due to an investigation over recruiting and accounting practices at the school. 40,000 students, including those right here in the valley, also reeling from the sudden closures. news 3's christy wilcox caught up with former students who got the e-mail just this morning.

north las vegas students earlier today who came to the door to see if, in fact, it was closed one student told me he owed $60,000 in student loans and has no degree to show for it. the road to success means getting an edgegation to this woman. an early-morning e-mail from itt took caught them both offguard. >> i had a great experience here. for it to end this way is horrible. >> my main concern is making sure i can payhe get them discharged. >> reporter: itt says it had to close its doors after the department of education required new conditions for them to participate in federal financial aid programs. linda montgomery with the learning center says students like newman may qualify for loan discharge but must continue to pay their loans. >> if they stop making payments, they will be ineligible under that program.

much change. still gonna see a lot of sunshine over the next few days. the dryness will continue. we've been talking this storm right here. this is hurricane newton and you can see it's already starting to make its way into the mainland of mexico. you can see right there, expecting to make another landfall by early tomorrow morning. this thing is actually going to continue trekking into our region. as we fast forward more, you can see it moving into parts of southern arizona, southeast iz new mexico. it's not gonna bring us any weather impact at all. so it looks like we'll stay fairly dry. that dry and warm trend that we're all so used to, 74 degrees looking at very calm conditions this evening under clear skies. 50 degrees on the mountains. 71 for overton. 57 degrees for pahrump. low 70s for boulder city. tomorrow afternoon, we'll add a few numbers to our high

101 in lake mead. 98 degrees for pahrump and the low 70s for mount charleston and 94 for indian springs. so close to the triple digits tomorrow. but we're not expecting it to happen until, well, the next few days and then we'll keep that trend around for a little while through the weekend at least. it will be a wonderful weekend to go out and enjoy the bite of las vegas. temperatures will be pretty toasty. but just when you start getting used to the heat, temperatures drop l kick up a little bit. mid-90s are expected. >> summer is over. you heard it. it's official. >> feels like it. it's officially -- >> scorching summer temperatures are done. >> yes. the terribleness is done.
