>> dana: another night of protest in charlotte. a state of emergency has been declared. a live report coming up in seconds. kite what brad pitt accused of doing to one of his own children and why the los angeles police department is currently investigating. >> kim: developing right now, we have a charlotte. >> dana: state of emergency has been declared there. let's go live to the scene for the latest. >> city of charlotte looks a bit normal behind me right now but it is anything but. north carolina's largest city in an official state of emergency with many on pins and needles wondering if tonight will be the same as the past two. >> the early morning police in

a few hours earlier the scene was very different. a second night of unrest ripped the city as people angry over the death of scott vented their rage. scott was shot tuesday. police say he had a weapon but his family says he was reading a book in his vehicle. amid the unrest wednesday evening the governor declared a state of emergency and deployed the national guard and state hi one person was shot by another civilian. according to authorities and is in the hospital on life support. several police officers were injured. journalists were caught up in the chaos. >> they put out pepper spray and people are running it from. >> one reporter was knocked to the ground by a passing man. some demonstrators stood in front of the police line in an

tension. >> i'm trying to prevent people from being hurt. my brothers are out here trying to make sure we do it the right way. >> we do not support violent protest. violence is not the answer. >> some trying to organize on social media to clean up their city there is glass everywhere right now. this looks like a city that has been through something severe. but many wri it right now. are we going to see the same thing tonight we have the past two night science major employers, bank of america, wells fargo, duke energy saying let's not risk it. telling employees to stay home today, don't come in to work. it's not worth that risk. >> dana: thank you for that live

crew that responded they found a small portion of a mattress smoldering. crews believe that the fire was smoking related. we'll have continued developments here on news 3. >> dana: sprinklers in every hotel in the united states as a result of the fires here in town 35 years ago. meanwhile in court for the first time this morning we're about to see the man accused of trying to kill his wife and her boyfriend in a airport. craig is going to be in court as it happens. >> good morning. two counts of attempted murder, those are the most serious charges facing jeffrey brown. he is the suspect that police say opened fire on two people that happened in the parking garage. it was related to a relationship gone bad. the female victim was his

boyfriend. they were shot after returning on a flight to las vegas. they were walking back to their car. according to court records the suspect is 68 years old. we will see jeffrey brown in person in court this morning making his first court appearance. interesting to note that he has no prior criminal history and despite the troubled marriage, there is no record of a divorce filing. >> police are looking for more possibly victims. that's the doctor in question. allegations he made
