ago. cheers and fireworks happy new year las vegas! i'm beth fisher and i'm dayna roselli.... the time now is ... and welcome to 20-16. people were celebrating all night...and many might still be celebrating right now. but some of those celebrations may have gone wrong... let's get right over to jessica with some breaking news we're working on... yeah unfortunately we have to the first shooting of 2016.... a teenager who was shot a bullet flew through a house. he's in the hospital right now.

someone who was driving the wrong way on the highway! all lanes of the highway were shut down while authorities investigated. we did hear that one person may have broken their leg...but don't have an official word from n-h-p if anyone was injured. two people never made it to 2016...just 2 hours before the new year, they were burned alive in a rollover crash. it happened about 10 pm on the i-15 near craig--the road just re-opened 2 hours ago. officials say the driver was speeding south on the highway when they lost control. the car slamming into the median...rolling across four lanes. the car ended up on the side of the highway...upside down and then burst into flames with both the driver and passenger trapped inside. now to an action news update... on an officer involved shooting near durgano and desert inn yesterday. the us marshalls service says they were forced to shoot and kill a man who was holding a cell phone. overnight that man's aunt
officers fired. but police say he was covering the phone with his hand...refused to drop it...and they had no way of knowing it wasn't a weapon. the confrontation happened while the u-s marshals service was conducting surveillance on the man. he was wanted out of arizona for multiple violent felonies. new this mornining.... with the new year come new laws... here's a couple you should know about. one new law requires childcare facilities to provide private space for breastfeeding. it also requires day cares to make sure children get proper physical activity. another is for teachers...it requires school boards to set aside requires school boards to set aside money for a program to reward teachers and help recruit and train them. police body cameras for n-h-p will be mandatory...and you can now get a sample ballot electronically instead of through the mail! just hours ago the strip looked like this... now they're trying to clean up after hundreds of thousands of people who rang in the new

police tell us a bullet actually went through a wall at the house here - and hit the teenager. they don't have a suspect in custody right now. there is actually not even a desciption we can give you... ....but that's because this might just have been a terrible accident. here's why - he was shot just minutes after midnight... ...so officers think someone was shooting off rounds to celebrate the new year.....and one of those bullets hit the teen. he is now recovering at the hospital. the good news here, he is expected to be okay. reporting live yasmeen hassan channel 13 action news,
