turning to the race for president... republican candidate ted cruz is facing some heat ahead of tonight's gop debate... the senator didn't disclose major bank loans he took out when he ran for senate in 2012... the move, a potential violation of federal election rules after the new york times reported the error yesterday. the cruz campaign acknowledged the mistake. the senator explained to reporters what happened. if it was the case that they were not filed exactly as the fec requires then we'll amend the filings but all the information has been public and transparent for many years and that's the end of that. the cruz campaign is calling the issue, a matter of semantics. but the news, on the eve of the next republican debate in south carolina, could pose a political problem for cruz. citibank and goldman sachs, who fronted the loans, are still politically unpopular because of the 2008 financial crisis. there is some good news for
