ccsd but it might finally be over. so what exactly is in the new contracts? action news reporter yasmeen hassan has been looking through them. and she's breaking it all down for us this morning. yasmeen? we have seen months and months of rallies and protests... ....but all of that has come to an end. late last night - the district's board of trustees unanimously approved a new 2-year contract for teachers... ....and everyone seems to be onboard. c-c-s-d and the teachers union were both tweeting about the news... saying congratulations - an agreement has finally been reached. now - as for that agreement - current teachers will also be getting a raise.

will also be seeing some better healthcare. a date to mark down on your calendars is wednesday august 9, 2017. that will be th new start date for the 2017-2018 school year. reporting live yasmeen hassan channel 13 action news. our reporter gina lazara tweeted at the school district... after none of them showed up to last night's town hall meeting on school redistricting. they replied saying they were all at the meeting to ratify the teacher's contract. however, city officials told us they were absent because they disagree with re-organizing the district.

hired the driver behind the wheel is speaking out. the transit company extended their sympathies to the friends and family of the victim. they said in a statement, the safety of passengers, operators and the general public is their top priority. there were cameras on the bus during the saturday morning crash, and the video has been turned over to metro. a metro officer now facing charges for domestic violence, and we're now learning this wasn't his first time behind bars. james burt was arrested 5 years ago for battery and kidnapping for allegedly attacking his wife at the time.

red rock area and snow is expected to fall around 7000 ft and above. high temperatures to las vegas will range between the upper 50s and lower 60s with a slight drop down to the mid 50s saturday due to cold air behind the front. by sunday, another front moves on shore from the pacific and will continue to treck east. this will keep clouds prominent through the weekend into the next work week, but also increase temperatures to the lower 60s! possible showers look to pop in on monday and tuesday of next week and then fizzle out to just cloud cover for the rest of the seven day outlook. breezy conditions are expected today and monday but nothing seriously gusty. it's been problem after problem

at vegas drive and torrey pines. a son accused of killing his own father confesses to police. telling them it all started with an arguement inside their henderson home. in daron clanton's arrest report he told police, he and his father were fighting... because his dad wanted to see his grades from unlv. daron told him he couldn't do that, because he hadn't been scared.. so he ran and got a gun. daron says he opened fire several time... as his dad was walking towards him. the 22 year old is now behind bars on an open murder charge.

he is on crime stoppers. he is everywhere." that grandmother talking is about the surveillance video you see here.. showing the man suspected of killing her 16 year old grandson. and this morning, police believe that man is now behind bars in california... waiting to be brought back to las vegas. 24 year old jimmy robinson was arrested in richmond on wednesday. metro has a warrant out for him for the death of tiyvone taylor mills last october. robinson is facing murder and attempted murder charges. 05. guilty... that's the plea from a woman charged with killing her ex- boyfriend's 10 year old daughter, and slashing her former co-worker's face. now she's just waiting for her sentence. brenda stokes wilson was arrested back in december 20-12, after the body of jade morris was found in an abandoned house. the little girl's family was in court to hear wilson's plea, and she says she is ready for her to be sentenced to she can

(9 secs) (11:39:20;25 - 11:39:30;06) wilson faces life in prison. her sentencing is scheduled for march 9th. the ex-pastor accused of sexually assaulting young girls in his congregation finally takes the stand, and the whole time he insists he's innocent. during otis holland's testimony he even offered to take a polygraph test to prove he's not guilty, but those tests are not admissible in court. holland has pleaded not guilty to all of his charges. his attorney says the accusers made up the stories because they loved holland and were jealous of his adult relationships. this morning, wer'e sending well wishes to local headliner celine dion, after the death of her husband rene angelil. the 73 year old passed away yesterday at their las vegas home after a long battle of cancer. the couple was married for 21

together. angelil was dion's manager for decades, and helped strike the deal for celine's residency at caesar's palace 13 years ago. frank marino sot: "he was integral to her having a career here. i know she was deeply in love with him." dion's concerts for this weekend have been cancelled. she is expected to return in late february. we all know that bullying is a big problem in our schools, and now the school district is getting millions of dollars to try and fight the issue. ccsd says addressing bullying is a priority for them. some of the money will go towards putting social workers and other mental health professionals in schools so they're available for students. one woman told us her god-daughter moved out of state because she was bullied, and she hopes this money can help other kids. 18:12:19:08 kimberly gates, bullying victim's godmother

and who's were, not so much. first up donald trump talking about banning syrian refugees, the majority of the nearly 5 million syrian refugees entering europe are women and children, ages 17 and younger. now to , former florida governor jeb bush.. who said hillary clinton is under investigation by the fbi. that got a "half true" while the fbi has looked into clinton for her email controversy. it's unknown if she herself is actually the target of the investigation.

and rubber bullets. that's how officials hope to cut down on deadly shootings in our prisons. but the department of corrections says they will still be using loaded shotguns, but they're trying to cut back back in 20-14, two inmates at high desert state were shot while they were handcuffed, one of them died. the attorney general is now reviewing that lawsuit, an announcement on it is expected soon. unrest in chicago this morning... after another video is released showing police officers fatally shooting a 17 year old. the family of cedrick chatman is now filing a wrongful death lawsuit aginst the city and the officer who killed him. in the video from 20-13, you see two officers chasing the teen, then one of the cops runs in the street and opens fire hitting him twice. here you see an officer handcuffing the teen and stepping on him. it's less than 10 seconds and he is lying on the street mortally wounded. mark smolens / chatman family attorney chatman was a carjacking suspect.
