some traffic troubles over the weekend in the valley... several lanes on the 215 were closed for over 5 hours after several vehicles crashed. it happened yesterday morning near the warm springs exit. police say the driver of a lexus drove the wrong way on the 215 and hit 2 other cars. police are still investigating spacex's latest attempt to land a rocket upright on a platform in the pacific ocean failed in a spectacular fashion sunday. the unmanned rocket successfully carried a satellite into orbit, but then failed its secondary goal - to land on a floating platform. it came down softly on the platform, called a "drone-ship", but then toppled and exploded on impact. space-x c-e-o elon musk posted

hundreds of families are making their way to mt. charleston for some fun in the snow this holiday.... while there's fun in the snow...the roadways are expected to be anything but fun! troopers started turning away vehicles at 1 thirty yesterday afternoon... nhp telling us hundreds of cars parked on the shoulder of the roads leading up to kyle canyon and lee canyon....just what troopers didn't want! they wrote more than 70 citations yesterday... illegal parking wasn't the only issue,,,,. nearly four dozen vehicles had to be dug out of the snow after parking on the side of the road. it happened early sunday morning near sahara and fort apache... power was out for nearly 2 hours....but crews worked quickly to restore it. no word on injuries or what caused that crash. an update this morning to a fatal drunk driving case.... the man charged with causing a crash that killed two women last christmas eve... is expected to be sentenced tomorrow.... police say ray diok-no was speeding when he ran a red light near cheyenne and hualapai... the crash claimed the lives of an 81-year-old woman and her 63-year-old daughter. breaking overnight... a coast guard crew rescued two people adrift from a violent storm in the gulf of mexico... the mens' ship had a torn sail, a broken hull and was taking on water in 20-foot seas . the coast guard deployed an m-h-65 dolphin rescue helicopter. the crew hoisted the men to safety and took them to key west international airpwhere emergency medical

a family in virginia is devastated this morning after their loved ones were killed a house fire... five family members lost their lives after flames engulfed this home in chesterfield, virginia yesterday. five others survived the fire,..one of them speaking about the victims--including a 3-year-old girl and 1-year-old boy. (madison anderson, house fire survivor): "they were amazing. they were the best kids ever. " investigators are still looking into what caused the fire. the red cross is helping the survivors who now don't have a place to live. turning to a developing story out of utah... a police officer gunned down in the line of duty... this morning...support is pouring in for officer doug barney, his family and those he worked with. investigators say barney went after two suspects who ran from a traffic accident in holladay, utah...a suburb of salt lake city. one of those allegedly fired one shot...hitting barney in the head and killing him... the salt lake county sheriff couldn't fight back emotions while describing what happened.
