now, the latest on a shooting and bomb scare that had a dozen people out of their homes. police say that suspicious device found was deemed safe. but right now, officers are still looking for two gunmen...who shot and injured another man. now, this all started with a shooting near las vegas boulevard and serene. when officers arrived on scene, witnesses told them the man was threatening to blow up the apartment complex. the man was shot, but is expected to survive. a man suspected in a string of car break- ins is behind bars. they say he was targeting cars near durango and gowan. officers shut down nearby roads to catch the man. he'll likely face several charges. we'll update you when we get the official list. temperatures are back in the sixties here in the valley. but in 17-other states, people are dealing with a deep freeze and bone-chilling temperatures. abc's elizabeth hur has a look at the effects of this bitter blast. < it was bound to happen and now it has?the snow drought is

we're learning more about a man who police say shot and killed one officer and injured another during a shootout in utah. officers were chasing cory lee henderson and a woman.. who took off after a car crash yesterday. that's when henderson reportedly opened fire. court records show he has a lengthy criminal history including pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. a murder mystery in paraside -- an abc producer in chicago found dead on vacation in belize. right now, the hunt is on for her killer. anne swaney was a 16-year-old veteran at the station... traveling alone at a farm resort. police say she was last seen thursday... practicing yoga. sot crying friend ashley wright there. we felt safe letting her go alone and then the next day, police found her body...with an strangled. investigators arrested a guatemalan fisherman, but he has not yet been charged him with any crime. right now he's only considered

ns of people are spending their day off today outdoors. but before you head out to a park the next time, we have a big warning for you! a new timothy johnson with more on ticks and lyme disease. < they are tiny, black, and difficult to spot? and though ticks may go undetected in your backyard, a new report reveals those that carry lyme disease may be much more widespread finding that the major tick species carrying lyme disease on the east and west coasts have now been identified in nearly half of the counties in the united states. this marks a nearly 45 percent increase in the number of counties that have recorded the presence of these ticks since the previous mapping in 1998.

coast? the number of counties containing the species common to the eastern u.s. has more than doubled since the national distribution was mapped two decades ago. just because these ticks are now being identified, it doesn't mean they weren't there all along. but either way, remember to wear protective clothes and bug spray in the wilderness ? and see a doctor if you have a bullseye rash or flu-like symptoms that could indicate lyme disease. with proper caution, all americans can stay out of the woods when it comes to lyme disease. with this medical minute, i'm dr. timothy johnson. > a new study out today says more women are waiting longer to have children. the centers for disease control the average age of mothers has been rising for the last 15-years. it found the average age has risen to 26. researchers say more women are putting off motherhood for higher education or a career.
