also overnight... traffic nightmare on las vegas boulevard. roads shut down so they could film the new matt damon movie. we'll get you updated on what happened while you were sleeping. but first... let's start with morning meteorologist greg bennet! front after front continue to develop within the pacific northwest and track east/southeast. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will be common for southern nevada as a whole with small chance for rain and snow to the mountains and potentially red rock today. temperatures do fall slightly as compared to yesterday's high temperatures; we will hover in the upper 50s this afternoon but by tomorrow, temperatures rebound back to the low and potentially mid 60s. there is a discrepancy in our models for tomorrow afternoon in regards to another front and snow, a couple models however, are pushing in a small none-the-less. as it stands now, i have only a third front passing, winds pick up saturday but dwindle down for by saturday night.

shoot a scene involving a limo rigged with explosives 1 lane is open and it will stay that way until 7am the car chase scene for the upcoming bourne movie caused significant delays on the las vegas strip. setup and shooting of the scene it was just last week that filming for the movie shut down a section of flamingo road near las vegas boulevard for a stunt tied to the movie. also overnight a scary situation in henderson. police officers pulled over a car in a smith's parking lot after they ran the plates and they showed up as stolen. when they went to do an inventory check of the man's car they found something inside that was suspicious. metro's armor unit was called out, and eventually they deemed it safe.

off and you're pulling me over for that?" a man gives some metro officers the bird... after he says they nearly caused him to crash his car. today he's meeting with his attorney to deal with his new citation for "improper use of a hand signal" kris luce recorded the entire confrontation. in the video you hear the cop tell him he's being cited, and luce says he was just excercising his first ammendment right. cop: "this is why you're getting charges because....if you wanna flip me off inside....that's all fine and dandy...." guy: "i did flip you off inside. you were three lanes over" cop: "i know but when your giving you a signal....." cop: "do it inside your vehicle" luce insists his hand never left the window. we weren't able to get a comment from metro yesterday, because it was a holiday. but today... luce says he'll be meeting with his attorney. action news will be there. we'll have updates on later

only on action news... the wife of the man nearly killed by a wrong way driver is speaking out... as her husband recovers in the hospital. (stacey cope, wife of crash victim) "he's got big heavy thick bones and a lot of muscle and a lot of padding and that probably saved his life." brandon abernathy's jeep was mangaled. troopers say a suspected drunk driver was going the wrong way on the 215, near warm springs early sunday morning.. when he crashed into brandon's jeep. the driver is also recovering in the hospital and facing a felony dui charge... (stacey cope, wife of crash victim) "i want everybody to know what this man did the choice that he made and the people that he hurt." abernathy was a highland games competitor. he's now recovering from broken bones, bruises and a cranial bleed. his family has set up a fundraising page for medical costs. the link is on our website... ktnv.com

vegas neighborhood is over. it started yesterday afternoon when officers were called out to a domestic situation near lake mead and civic center. when they got there, the man took off--that's when swat came in to help search for him. about three hours later the man surrendered. he and a woman were both taken into custody. an update on that bundy standoff in oregon just coming in overnight... ammon bundy leads a meeting with the community there, and asks the ranchers to cancel their leases with the government! bundy started off by showing a video of his dad's standoff in bunkerville, stressing that the time is now for ranchers to take back their rights. then, one of his fellow protestors told the group they need to stop paying grazing fees to the b-l-m... just like cliven bundy did back in 20-14. 22:57:19:25 "the reason that the bundys haven't lost the ranch is because they don't have the authority to take it." while some of the ranchers supported the idea, many of

dayna talks to beth... and here at home, our elected officials and public land activists are holding a rally... calling for the justice department to arrest cliven bundy, his sons.. and all their extremist followers. the group says its time for the government to take action against the protestors in oregon. they'll be meeting at "inside style" at charleston and las vegas boulevard at noon. leaders will be unveilling a big petition calling for the d-o-j to make the arrests. the battle over the solar industry has been non-stop recently, and this morning... las vegas city leaders are jumping in. mayor pro tem steven ross is scheduled to make an announcement at 9-30 at city hall. he'll be talking about restoring and growing solar projects in the city. last week, the public utilities commission voted to approve the

many say will kill the industry in our state. social media panic! twitter is back up again...but overnight it was down all over the world. the site apparently suffered a total outage. users attempting to access the site initially got messages warning the network was "over capacity" or was suffering from an "internal error." according to the british newspaper "the guardian," the company confirmed the outage from a support account at twitter, but so far users have been unable to see the tweet. up next... the affluenza teen accused of violating his probation is a

when he got to the front door, he turned around and saw someone get in his car and take off. "it's scary," said sohmer. next week. happening right now... the coast guard and the marines are trying to figure out how much longer they'll be searching for the missing marines in hawaii. we just learned overnight they found all of the life rafts that were deployed after the helicopters crashed late thursday night. there were 12 marines on board. so far, there has been no indication that anyone survived. more than 60 marines have been involved in the search, along with navy divers and county, state and federal agencies. this morning, one american is home, several others still on the way, after being held prisoner in iran for years. take a look at this picture showing the washington post reporter reunited with his family at a u-s military base in germany, after spending 544 days in prison. a former marine also getting a warm welcome from his loved ones.

benefits after being fired for using medical marijuana. kyler wortham says he was let go from the "pit stop car wash" in henderson, even though he's a licensed pot user. 13:08:15 "i don't understand why someone who takes oxycontin or xanax can go work at a carwash and they don't have any issues with it, but whenever i'm taking a medication that a doctor says that i need, i'm treated different." experts tell us the car wash didn't break any laws... they can fire people for any reason they want as long as it's not discriminatory. what makes wortham really upset is he was denied unemployment benefits, and now he's filing an appeal. we spoke to an employment lawyer who says these issues will probably be fought in court in the coming years. our crews will be reaching out to the unemployment office today, to get a comment on the issue. a horrifying scene on the strip... masses of people injured and one woman killed after a woman drives her car into the crowds on las vegas boulevard. this morning...

for a few years i've been following the journey of haley dawson, a little girl who's life was changed when she got a prosthetic hand from the engineering students at unlv. this morning at 11, her mom will be speaking to bishop gorman students... about some of haley's big moments... like throwing out the first pitch at the oriole's game. the students just used their 3-d printer to create 4 prosthetic hands, and now they want to make one for someone else in the community. coming up at -5-... people living in an east las vegas neighborhood say their once quiet area is being destroyed by squatters.
