driver on the 215 near charleston around 230 a-m. he refused, and led authorities on a chase. spike strips were even laid out near lone mountain and ann. they punctured his tires, but he still kept going. one of the most shocking sights -- when flames and sparks began shooting from his rims. the suspect eventually lost control on the 215 near warm springs--and taken into custody at gunpoint. authorities still don't know why he ran-- but last night he did have a run in with metro over a security situation at a casino we're learning more about a deadly crash this morning. it may have been a medical episode that caused the whole thing. chopper 13.. first over the scene yesterday during rush hour. police say this started when a car was driving the wrong way down buffalo and then drove off the road...hiiting a power pole the 60-year-old driver died...the passenger is fine.
just said something was wrong. with so many cars around at the time police say it's lucky no one else was hurt. ahead today.. the woman accused of ramming down dozens of people on the strip is expected in court. lakeisha holloway is facing 71 charges for the deadly crash just before christmas. she has a hearing this morning. police say she drove her car onto a crowded sidewalk several times, hitting numerous people. in the end, several were hurt, including an 11-year-old boy and a woman was killed. a competency hearing has been set for the man accused of waving a gun at tourists on the strip. a judge will now consider whether kahleal black is fit to stand trial. his attorney requested the mental health evaluation after his court appearance last week. black never fired his gun but police did, grazingtwo by- standers in front of the bellagio. metro is apologizing for a breakdown that affected 911 and 311 calls for several hours. the community's lifeline went dead for 30 to 50 minutes
metro worked to reroute emergency calls to henderson and north las vegas dispatch. in all.. it took about 6 hours to get metro's 911 system back up. technicians have been working around the clock to figure out the problem.. they still don't have any answers.. metro doesn't know how many calls were lost while the system was down. 20:16:06 asst. sheriff tom roberts: we realize 911 system is a lifeline for our community. and when someone calls, there's an expectation that someone will be on the other end to answer that call for help. the failure comes 2-months after a multi-million dollar upgrade to the system.. it's not the first time the new system has fallen short of expectations. this just in... the president is at thenational prayer breakfast in washington dc here's a live look... the president is expected to speak in about an hour. it's a tradition for presidents to spend the morning of the first thrusday in febraury at this breakfast. members of congress and evangelical christians are there.

airport officials say two tires blew out on one of their planes while landing at a pennsylvania airport. the plane was on its way to allentown from orlando. as the plane was landing late last night the tires blew. the plane was able to stop safely and no passengers were hurt. airport officials say there were no warning signs before landing...so now allegiant mechanics are examining the aircraft. turning to the race for the white house.
