bicentennial parkway. henderson police say at one point, the robbers even held her at gunpoint...demanding her valuables. the 72-year-old woman has minor injuries. it's not clear how many suspects there were, but they did get away with an unknown amount of cash and jewelry. 13 action news reporter david schuman is on scene gathering more information. coming up on later editions of 13 action news, hear what neighbors are telling him. also overnight, a man shot during a parking lot robbery! it happened near cimarron and blue diamond. now the search is on for the shooter! and this latest crime has people in the area living in calm community. < maybe the scaries part about all of this is this was an innocent man minding his own business when he was attacked. it all started around 1-30 this morning. officers say he was walking up to his car when another man approached and demanded he hand over all of his stuff and then at some point the suspect pulled out a gun and shot this man in the shoulder.
he is said to be in stable condition but that gunman is still on the loose right now and it has people in this area fed up. some are actually just leaving all together. 5:48:17 11 "we ended up moving out of this area just because it's been extremely scary. like every other day there's a break-in or a robbery or a shooting outside my work. it's supposed to be a community over here and it's like you don't even want to walk outside." we've been following a lot of chat about crimes like this in this specific area and we have some great news. help is on the way. i'll have all the information you need tonight at 6. reporting yasmeen hassan 13 action news., > developing now... parents at kenny guinn middle school are demanding answers... after a 7th grader suddenly passes away! clark county school district says they did not to send a note home about 12-year-old maxine zepeda's death because they didn't have enough information. the health district is not investigating because there were no reports of an outbreak of a contagious disease at the school.

breaking right now-- now lets get to 13 action news marissa kynaston on that update on metro's k- 9 patrol dog nicky. she got an update from his partner-- i was able to see nicky for myself today-- he looks happy and energetic-- police say he's recovering really well. we do know k9 officer nicky was attacked with a machete-- so the majority of his injuries were to his head and face-- but you can see he is recovering. nicky was injured during a 12 hour barricade incident last week-- while police were trying to arrest a suspect who may have been involved in a shooting. nicky went inside the apartment to find the suspect-- and thats

a high school campus. police say it was a murder- suicide. suicide. and for the first time, we're hearing from the family of one of those teens. those girls were dorothy dutiel and may kieu...sophomores and girlfriends at a school in glendale, arizona. police say dutiel took her own life, after shooting kieu. we're told dutiel left a suicide note that releases the family of blame. but it's little comfort to the teen's grieving loved ones. voice of julie moore: "she's got double heartache. she's hurting very, very badly for the loss of her own child but also somebody elses child" moore says the family was close and supportive of the teens' relationship. developing now-- apple is taking on the federal government, which is ordering the tech giant to unlock one of the i-phones of the san bernardino shooters. but apple is vowing to appeal! it's been 2-months since that deadly shooting that left 14-people dead. investigators want access to

on the side of a road. and metro is trying to figure out who did it and why! but first action news live at 3:30 begins with breaking news --- the recovery is going well for metro's k-9 nicky. you'll remember he was stabbed on duty. i'm rikki cheese. and i'm steve wolford. even better news- during today's news conference.. we learned nicky should be back on patrol in about 3-weeks. nicky appeared at the news conference with his handler. the k-9 needed to have emergency surgery after he was slashed across the head with a machete. officers say most of the injuries were thankfully just superficial to his face and head. ithappened when officers released nicky on a suspect
friday. happening right now.. investigators are working to find out who's responsible for dumping bags containing animal remails along the side of a road. officers found the bags near lake mead and lamb yesterday. metro says two bags appeared to have dead cats inside. a third bag contained a larger animal. metro is looking into how the animals died. investigators hope that information will lead them to whoever did it. right now, police are trying to track down these two men..they say may be connected to an armed robbery at a tavern. last month, investigators say a man in a mask walked into the business near eastern and flamino, and held them up at gunpoint. the two people in these pictures were in the bar before the robbery, and held the door open for the suspect. if you recognize them call crime stoppers. a man has been sentenced to 13- years in prison for taking part in a drug trafficking scheme. billy cooks pleaded guilty to plotting with his girlfriend.. e'lala frank.. to possess and distribute
