this morning a local man and the dogs he was walking are being called heroes. they are receiving the red cross life saving awards today after fighting off a pack of coyotes! "i have children but i don't have no grandchildren so they are my grandchildren ha ha ha" barry bannister takes 10 dogs on hikes daily. one day this summer he was hiking in calico basin when barry says 12 coyotes surrounded them. the coyotes grabbed bannister's little dogs and started attacking them....but his bigger dogs reacted. "fitz took the one...chased the one off molly....and ashley that was blazer" the coyotes eventually ran off... but bannister still had to save his little dogs who were attacked! he was able to put a tourniquet on his dog's wounds and they are alive and well today.... bannister says he doesn't go hiking in the red rock area anymore. good morning las vegas time now is x:xx --
