let's start with a quick look at the forecast with meteorologist let's start with a quick look at the forecast with meteorologist jeff martinez. mostly cloudy this wednesday with a few scattered snow & rain showers by the afternoon. the sierra could see a few inches of evening with little or no accumulations. dry weather takes us through the weekend with highs warming into the 50s! thanks jeff. new this morning... both northbound lanes of kietzke lane near i-80 were closed for a few hours last night... after a driver crashed into an overpass. it happened at around 10-15... on kietzke lane near i-80. sparks police tell us the driver struck the concrete railway overpass... and rolled her pick- up. remsa was on scene... and took the driver to a hospital for non- life threatening injuries.

whether alcohol was a factor in the crash...no word on that yet. crews reopened the road around midnight. turning to crime beat... carson city police have arrested a man they say fled the scene of a fatal hit and run crash last week. the carson city sheriff's office says emergency crews responded to reports of a man who fainted on the side of the street... around 7-30 p-m last wednesday... at the intersection of hwy 50 east and brown street in carson city. they found the victim... 52-year- old gustova garcia-valdes... unconscious. later... deputies received a tip that garcia-valdes may have been the victim of a hit and run accident... and that the driver of that suspected vehicle was 37-year-old juan pablo rios. investigators say rios told multiple people he had been involved in the crash. garcia-valdes died from his injuries... two days after the hit and run. yesterday the justice court in carson issued a warrant for rios'

projects. students were encouraged to develop a product with a vision of making a difference in the world... and were built over the semester. while some studedes say they liked the creative thinking and the problem solving...many said it was great to just have some fun. "they have a purpose to this work that they're doing and that is key to sort of this intrinsic motivation they have for learning and we believe it foster's this love of learning for a life time." the tahoe expedition academy has been growing.... and as a result, the school is set to establish a multi-million dollar campus outside of truckee in the coming months. three local high schools-- the davidson academy, coral

and reno high school will be competing in the regional science bowl competition with high hopes of heading to nationals in washington dc this spring. ky caught up with some of the whiz kids on the reno high school science squad and joins us live in the newsroom. good morning ky. good morning! over thirty high schools from california, nevada and utah will be in las vegas this weekend to answer exceptionally difficult math and science questions for a chance to be the u.s. department of energy, smart, fast, and competitive even amongst teammates. ohidul mojumder- "if i know and answer and somebody else even if they are on my team gets it. it makes me feel, i should have been faster on the buzzer." and that is what they say is key

buzzer! another strategy the team learned from competing last year is making sure each person has a certain expertise whether it be physics, math, or geology to be able to take on the diversity of questions. their teacher and coach, mr. aaron shoolroy, says the team is especially talented when it comes to the fast-paced buzzing in... aaron shoolroy- "i don't have to teach um to be controlled on the buzzer, they are animals on there man! sometimes it is hard to reign that in becasue if answer to early and you're wrong it gives the other team 4 points." you're wrong it gives the other team 4 points." last year, reno high school got second place almost winning that all expenses paid trip to washington, d.c. covering the story, ky sisson,

questions and quickly! these reno high students have been studying up--each with their own subject specialty-- a strategy they say is key to winning. ohidul mujumder- "no one person can learn all this stuff so we want everybody to have a different expertise and have a different thing that they are good at." mr. aaron shoolroy--teache r and science bowl coach has been to a few of these competitions as both an advisor and when he was a student at reno high school 22 years ago. he said this year's team is especially quick on that buzzer saying quote "they're animals" when it comes to answering quick. aaron shoolroy- "last year i kind of held them back last year because i was a little bit worried. two espeically are really lightning quick, really fast, can be an advantage to us this year." last year, reno high school got second place almost winning that all expenses paid trip to

the ages of 15 to 25 dealing with psychosis. health and human services doctor tracey green says 18-thousand nevadans suffer with disturbances or mental illness. dr. tracey green, chief medical officer for dept. of health and human services: "we're going to do fully integrated services to look at whether you need housing services, whether you need a job, whether you need an education. and it's not just for the individual, it's for the individual's family or the individual's support system." the program already accepted their first clients, and they say they're ready to accept even more with many of the services covered. and good news for taco fans... roberto's taco shop has now expanded to reno. the location on 8th street and north virginia opened its doors for the first time monday... and is the first in northern nevada. and get this-- the restaurant drew in crowds so huge... they had to shut down their doors at 7 o-clock last night!

"we just got overwhelmed. bottom line. robledo says the reno restaurant saw about 400 customers yesterday. he apologized to customers who were still trying to get into the restaurant more than an hour later... thanks jeff. looking around the nation now... the first u-s case of the zika virus transmitted through sexual contact has been confirmed in dallas county texas. the disease has been linked to a serious birth defect that's affected thousands of newborns. there are more than 30 confirmed cases of the zika virus. all, except the most recent patient, were infected overseas as the virus rapidly spreads throughout latin america and the caribbean. there are still no reports of zika being transmitted by
