with a breezy afternoon and highs in the low 50s. winds will gust 20-40mph by the afternoon with a few scattered rain and snow showers possible north of reno police arrested two people in a fraud investigation. 31 year old matthew williams and 28 year old julie morris are charged with burglary and using an i-d and credit card without permission. investigators think they stole personal information from cars, and used them to make fraudulent checks. and police also arrested 47- year-old james bzdziuch and 25-year-old kanin celestre , charged with burglarizing vehicles at several fitness centers in reno. police recovered stolen property from a hotel room booked by one of the men after they were taken into custody february 2nd. they are still investigating

rally will be held in the rose ballroom at the nugget casino resort. the event is free and open to the public... and doors open at one p-m. fernley's population has more than doubled since 2000. and that has created some growing pains. the north lyon county fire protection district does not have the funding to keep up with that growth. the fire chief says their 1- point-5 million dollars per year and 12 firefighters are only half of what is needed. volunteers are crucial... and the district has had help with donations... including two fire engines from the city of las vegas. huntley "we want to see development. we're excited about that and we definitely believe it will help us, but we want to make sure those people's investments are protected, too." city leaders say, they expect more property tax revenue to come in as growth continues... but huntley fears it won't be enough, because of lower assessed values. as we saw yesterday, our area's

right away." chief spencer says these are really useful for self resuce and maybe even when you are the first on the scene of an accident. when assisting someone else, it is extremely important to use your seat belt cutter with caution because you never know what kind of injury the person may have sustained. officer broadway with the reno police department told us about a time he had to use a seatbelt cutter to help an elderly woman involved in an accident and that stories like that are common. broadway- "we hear stories across the nation wheresomeone comes upon an accident and saves someones life because they have a seatbelt cutter or because they were at the right place at the right time. it may seem silly but it is not." an example one of these would be useful to help someone else john and andi would be of course when

welcome back. time for take 2... stories we think are worth a second look. a family is holding their dog a little tighter today after a brush with death. colorado firefighters were called to perform a dramatic rescue at a frozen pond. it was a close call for houdini - a dog known for his tricks. the 5-year-old golden retreiver was waiting on the deck for his evening walk, when his owner says he likely began chasing a small animal. fire captain ray garner bite "we saw houdini floating, trying to get out on his own but he couldn't..." it took firefighters no longer than 15 minutes to pull houdini safely from the icy water. firefighters thank houdini's owner for choosing to call 9-1-1 instead of attempting
