low clouds but nothing compared what we saw this past weekend. a few high clouds above and trend is warming up. if you are going out to tailgate the warriors game at 6:00 or the a's game at 7:05 looks good. it will cool down quick and maybe patchy low clouds. temps going up in by thursday back down. it will go really fast one extreme to the other but today on the move up to warmer temps. mostly sunny and warmer and by thursday we drop 10 to 15 degrees by friday and saturday. an interesting pattern. low clouds clearing from north to south. 40s for a few and 50s. a lot of upper 40s menlo park and woodside and stanford and close for others as well. 53 san mateo. okay breeze and now,. things have collapsed. the sierra looks much quieter today then over the weekend.
high pressure a few days and then a cooling trend later in the week. 60s, 70s, and 80s. slow traffic out there and let's see what we have. with the crowding on the freeway you will see traffic getting busier and drive between carquinez bridge and macarthur maze 30 minutes as opposed to half that time earlier this morning. bay bridge toll plaza you see traffic will be busy as you drive out to the macarthur maze. 25 to 30 minute delay and no major problems. 580 pretty slow coming over the altamont pass and 680 slow. 680 laurel social leaving pleasanton and a new accident southbelt 880 and an accident at a street. the commute i just outlined is slower than usual. if that is your commute get on
the road earlier if you can. 7:02 back to the desk. search on to find a person who shot and killed a man near a senior center and san leandro last night. we alive and san leandro and that is still shut down because of the ongoing investigation. >> reporter: good morning gasia. major the al -- major thoroughfare and shutdown so anyone heading out the door should keep that in mind. here's what's going on. major police investigation. san leandro police gathering evidence in the homicide investigation. shooting victim was found outside a senior community center just down the street about a block on the right-hand side. the man who was found shot and wounded was pronounced dead here at the scene. he was discovered around 7:30
last night. the investigation began when san leandro police got 911 calls about gunfire in the area. when officers got here they discovered a car crash involving a car and a minivan. the people inside the minivan were nowhere to be found. while they were investigating the accident, officers were told the man nearby had been shot and found right outside of the front door of the senior community center where there was a private function going on at the time. we talked with the witness who didn't want to show her face but heard the gunfire. >> i heard shots and then all of a sudden everyone was running. >> reporter: police have not said for sure if the shooting is related to the car crash but certainly it would appear it is part of the investigation. police are interviewing witnesses and going through surveillance video from the area in the hopes of identifying the shooter who remains on the loose.
the motive for the homicide remains unclear this morning. in terms of the impact for anyone traveling through this area keep in mind that be -- east 14th street shutdown in both directions. this is for the ongoing homicide investigation and san leandro. a developing story in east bay were concord police have shut down a park to investigate a death. police say a woman's body found to:38 this morning floating in a pond . a major crimes unit at the park but not actively searching for anyone in the area. we're at the scene and we will bring a live update at 7:30. investigators think they know how fire destroyed a san jose business and forced people to evacuate last night started. the concern is growing that the building might collapse. we are there right now and just spoke with fire officials.
>> reporter: that's right and they were mentioning to me they think the building behind me that caught on fire may have to be demolished. the roof collapsed and it is constructed with unreinforced masonry. they are concerned about that and that is why right now there is a fencing company putting fencing around the building. this is right next to apartments and homes. as you can see from the cell phone video, the entire building was engulfed in flames that were coming through the roof. this is what it looked like at 9:00 last night when it started at the auto repair shop. the shop owner was working on a car and stepped away and moments later the car's owner screamed the car was on fire. they were able to get out of the building and 50 firefighters called to the scene
because there were flammable and combustible liquids inside which could cause a fire to accelerate. we spoke to a man living behind the shop who was walking by when the fire started and here's what he said. >> i looked this way and i saw explosions and i started to see the fire. i was scared and i took my young son and my wife and said run! >> reporter: as i mentioned there is an apartment complex next-door and those residents were evacuated last night because of the potential danger. pg&e had to turn off the power to the buildings on the block before crews could put out the flames. the power is restored of people are back in their homes and as far as the cause, fire officials say the car being worked on was leaking gas and they think that is accidental. south almaden expected to be closed from goodyear to wear low for at least as long as they have the fencing up.
it looks like it will cause a lane closure here. it's just a one block area but a popular route for commuters getting onto highway 87. 7:08 and a deadly motorcycle crash in south bay being investigated which happened before 8:00 last night on black road east of highway 35 near los gatos. a 28-year-old man lost control and thrown off the bike into a tree. he died later at a hospital. the cause of the crash is under investigation. santa fe city council will consider banning nonessential city travel with north carolina and mississippi in response to new laws in those states which many see as discriminatory against people based on their sexual orientation.
the ban on travel and business sends a strong message that discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated. opponents say it would be difficult to enforce. san francisco already banned official travel to north carolina and mississippi. save lives california coalition about to announce a milestone. the group includes doctors and environmentalists and they want to raise california's a cigarette tax. later today they will announce they gathered enough signatures to put a $2 per pack tax hike on the november ballot. they say raising the tax could discourage young people from smoking and encourage people to quit. the secretary of state still has to verify the signatures. golden state warriors getting ready to open the western conference finals against the oklahoma city thunder and tipoff 6:00 tonight. steph curry feels good but andrew bogut questionable for

7:23 and a fifield couple on vacation in maine rescued a family of five and a man with special needs from a river. they were flying over the river in a sea plane when they saw a man and a paddleboat. the sea plane couldn't fit more passengers but at the family the nearby boat to help them. they tried to tow the paddleboat back to shore but it was too have the. both capsized leaving all six people in the water so one man jumped in the river to rescue them and the woman called 911. >> i used a float and pushed it out to them and had him get on that and pulled him off to the shore. >> it's important that people got out of the water as quickly as possible because it was so cold.>> everyone made it out safely in the couple said they were in the right place at the right time. in an hour at the white house president obama will award the medal of valor to 13 law enforcement officers including four from california. three santa monica police officers will be honored for

so are some of the other commutes like 85 and 101 into the valley. this is contra costa county and highway four slow and 680 slow. most part traffic slow with or without significant accidents and it's just going to be one of those days. bay bridge toll plaza a big backup and i don't see any sign of this getting better. some days you look and see the ramp in the middle of your screen, which is the 880 ramp. when you see it that bad, that means we won't be here for 25 or 30 minutes. 7:32 went back to the desk. developing story in the east bay and police in concord closed up part of a popular park where a woman's body was found floating in a pond. brian flores is there and what's the latest?>> reporter: you are exactly right and this is a popular park with walkers and kids playing in the playground of people bringing pets. they have closed up a portion
of the park in concord and part of the street as well. concord police leading the investigation and this is close to newhall park where a female body was found this morning. police investigating how the woman died. police are telling us they were called here at 2:36 this morning because of calls saying a body was found in the pond. when they arrived they found the body near the edge of the pond. some details remain unclear including the age of the woman, race, or circumstances behind her death. police told us they are not actively searching for someone and remains an active investigation. officers have closed off part of the park near the pond so they can continue the investigation. concorde's major crime unit detectives are trying to piece
together exactly what happened but a woman's body found in the parking concord and as we learn more details we will pass them along. back to you. later today the pittsburg city council votes whether to install cameras along highway four after some freeway shootings which were deadly happened the past 11 months. the most recent last wednesday near railroad avenue and a 25- year-old woman was killed who was a mother of four. the city council will decide whether or not to approve spending $100,000 on the cameras to help police investigate and teacher shooters. deputies and cost per contra tony investigating a shooting that happened yesterday morning in north richmond. i-26 your old man died at the hospital and we don't know his name yet and it has not been released. if you have information call
contra costa county sheriff's office. new developments in the killer bees in an east bay neighborhood. police say most of them are gone but over the weekend police sent out a warning about a large swarm of aggresive bees attacking people and animals. it happened in an area near hitchcock drive. and amateur beekeeper noticed a different type of bee in his yard and was attacked. people from the beekeeper's association put out a temporary hive to attracted the bees and destroy them. the plan seems to be working. >> there are few like one right there. but there are not enough to bother anyone and no one has been stung that i know of. >> police say most of the bees are gone and just a few are confined to one yard. they are expected to be africanized killer bees that might have killed two small dogs. the 105th bay to breakers race was free of problems according to the police in san
francisco. the race is known as a running street party with heavy drinking but more toned down this year. police only made five arrests for public intoxication. they made 23 arrests overall. 13 of those were traffic violations. there were only 10 medical calls. the race features centipede teams, costumes, and other wild things as well a serious runners and covers the 7 1/2 mile course from howard and main streets to the highway. there were 40,000 official runners. the first to cross the starting line were super runners expected to make it through the course in less than 45 minutes. so for those who are more relaxed it was more about competing with friends than beating the clock.>> running a race so we are in the comics. >> is there a rebuttal, superman? >> no comments. >> spiderman is in talking either.

the stadium paid out of the city general fund. the 49ers said they paid every bill they received and have no reason to believe they are not billed for all the hours that city workers put in for nfl events. the problem might be with the way the hours are coded on city employee timesheets. san francisco voters decide whether to spend more money and city parks. proposition be on the june ballot asks voters of city parks should have steady funding for the next three decades. it begins with an annual $3 million increase from the general fund for the first 10 years. officials say it will be used for maintenance and the parks. the park system hasn't had a funding increase over the last 15 years. san francisco may not have lost out on a star wars museum after all. george lucas is once again considering the city to be home for the museum. there are reports that plans in chicago are going so well and now he's looking at treasure
island. a site on the island facing downtown has been approved for development and mayor ed lee is lobbying the creator of star wars to build his museum there. after days of long lines the newly opened and wildly popular dumpling palace in santa clara changing its no reservation policy to reservation only. all tables at the restaurant will be by a reservation only. it said it realize guests have been waiting several hours to be seated and many have been turned away because the restaurant was at capacity. the move is temporary and the restaurant has not set for how long it will be reservation only. when these may sell old- fashioned hamburgers but they're getting a high-tech upgrade. when you start ordering combos from a computer and first. very long security lines have people sleeping on cots in

what caused the charter bus in texas to roll over saturday killing eight people and injuring 44 others. it was on its way to a casino where it rolled over 45 miles north of laredo. the driver was seriously injured and not yet interviewed by investigators. police say it was raining saturday morning but they don't know if the weather had a part in the crash. the ntsb has requested the bus company inspection and maintenance records and according to online records the company was ordered twice last year to take one of its buses off the roads to fix the brakes and other problems. the warnings that travelers get continue to get to the airport early in this morning long airport lines across the country. back in the studio now and pam, it's expected to get worse? >> it is. in addition to regular business travelers there are a lot of people heading to graduations and weddings and fewer people to get them through security.
some airports have tsa lines that take an hour and a half to get through because of the shortage of screeners. airline say they're trying to hold planes at the gate so passengers are not stuck in line and the government says it has a plan that hasn't been more specific at this point. jeh johnson says whatever the plan is our job is to keep the american people safe. we're at the oakland airport this morning to check the lines there and we found some unhappy people. >> i've never seen it like this before. i know they have problems in chicago at the airport. hopefully i don't miss my flight. >> it used to be like this for several years when it first started up and seem to be good but now it's bad again. >> in the past few years the tsa and congress cut the number of frontline screeners by 4622 which is about 10% of the people on expectations that people would sign up for pre- check that speeds up the lines but as we have been reporting not as many people enrolled in that rechecked.
airlines expecting a larger number of flyers the summer meeting more passengers and more bags to screen. homeland security is working with the airlines to enforce limits on carry-on bags and their sizes and passengers tend to pack a lot in the carry-on because they are charging $25 to check the bag. there are some senators working with airlines to get them to take the charges off the books at least for the summer to help speed up the lines. we will see what happens. >> i'm looking at the lines are remembering a conversation we had if we want to go to la do we drive or fly? looking at that, we drive. >> by the time you leave your house and park and go through security, you can be almost to la. and you have to take off your shoes and take your computer out. >> and car seats with little kids. my son can't wait three hours. i can barely wait that long.

a major road in san leandro close them police investigating a shooting from last night.>> we are in san leandro where the victim was shot outside a senior center. >> reporter: that morning and this large crime scene has caused traffic issues. east 14th street behind me blocked off in both directions between 136th avenue and 138th avenue and creating congestion here because school is about to get underway at san leandro high school a block up the road . san leandro police gathering evidence at the scene and investigating a homicide that happened last night. the shooting victim found wounded outside of the city's senior community center down on the right-hand side of this street. the man was pronounced dead at the scene. he was discovered at
7:30 last night. the investigation began when san leandro police got 911 calls about shots being fired in the area. when officers got here they discovered a car crash involving the car and a minivan. the people in the minivan were nowhere to be found in while they were investigating the accident they were told there was a man nearby who was shot. he was found outside the community center where a private function was going on. a witness we talked to didn't want to show her face but was inside of san leandro hospital nearby when she heard gunfire. >> i looked out the window and saw people were running and all of a sudden one of the nurses said someone was shot and that was it. >> reporter: police have not confirmed that the shooting is related to the crash but that is certainly a possibility and something that's being investigated. investigators interviewing witnesses near the area last
night and going over surveillance video from nearby businesses in hopes of identifying the shooter. police will give more details on the investigation at a news conference at 9:30 this morning. the traffic impact is severe in the area because east 14th street the shutdown of both directions between 136th avenue and 138th avenue and might remain closed until 10:00 this morning. 8:05 and a deadly motorcycle crash near los gatos in the south bay being investigated which happened just before 8:00 last night east of highway 35. a 28-year-old man lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown off and slammed into a tree. he died later at a hospital. the cause is under investigation. new information about a fire that broke out and destroyed a san jose business last night. fire crews are worried about more than the building on fire.'s>> they were concerned for people living nearby. there's a lot of activity in
the area this morning. >> reporter: there is an a lot of crews working in the last hour. i want to show you the fence put up around the building that caught fire. the battalion chief said they were concerned about the stability of the building so they put this up because they feared the building might collapse. it's right next to other homes. we have learned a power pole caught fire and pg&e crews are standing by to replace it. it's not stable either. take a look at the cell phone video taken earlier showing the building engulfed in flames. it started just before 9:00 last night inside an auto repair shop on south almaden avenue. on car the shop owner was working on and caught fire.
he and the car owner were able to escape and 50 firefighters were called to the scene because of the danger to the apartment complex next-door in the things in the shop that were flammable.>> i looked this way and i saw little explosions and i started to see the fire. i was scared and i took my grandson and my wife told me run!. >> reporter: as i mentioned the power pole that caught fire caused the power to be turned off for a brief period and people in nearby apartments had to be evacuated. no apartments were damaged and the officials say the car that caught fire was leaking gas. they suspected causes accidental. the only impact right now this is having his south almaden avenue only has one lane open from willow to goodyear because the fencing is up. the building

in the pond in concord. police have closed off a portion of the park as well as indian lane and boxer boulevard. as we go to video police got the call of a female body floating in the pond at 2:35 this morning. when they arrived they found the body floating near the edge of the pond. unclear how the woman died. many questions as to how old she was, where she was from, and her identity. we spoke with the gardener who works in the area who said the park is been a trouble spot for some time.>> i've been working a few years here and i've seen some things. >> reporter: concord police major investigation detectives remain on the scene collecting evidence. when we arrived they said there was not an active search for a

minutes before you make it onto the bridge. let's go back to the desk. pittsburg city council vote on whether to install cameras and highway four after freeway shootings the past year. the most recent was wednesday on railroad avenue that claimed the life of a 25-year-old mother of four. the city council will decide whether or not to approve $100,000 for cameras. sheriffs investigating a deadly shooting that happened yesterday. at 26 old man died at the hospital and name has not yet been released. anyone with information should call the contra costa sheriff's office. isis claiming responsibility for a deadly attack near baghdad at a natural gas plant. yesterday it started with two suicide car bombs near the gates of the plant and then isis members stormed the plant. security officers held them off
but 10 people were killed and 20 heard. last week isis exploded bombs in crowded markets and killed more than 100 people in 24 hours. analysts a isis has been losing ground in iraq and syria and fewer people are joining its ranks. a bomb scare in the uk forced the evacuation a cancellation of a manchester united soccer game. a suspicious package was found inside 30 minutes before the game. police searched the stadium with bomb sniffing dogs and conducted a controlled explosion to neutralize the device. investigators later said the suspicious item was a cell phone connected to a gas pipe left behind by a private company after a training exercise involving search dogs. the police commissioner there wants an investigation how this happened. 13 men arrested in the crack down on prostitution and the marine independent journals that they were arrested at an unidentified hotel and it says the men

problems. a dog in a hot car was rescued near golden gate part. it was a black lab and officers realized one of the doors was unlocked and used it to let the dog out. the car windows were cracked but very hot inside. the dog was taken by animal control and the driver was cited. a similar incident happened yesterday and concord and in that case the dog died. and the story of the killer bees in an east bay neighborhood, concord police say most are gone. over the weekend the police sent a warning out about a large swarm of aggressive these attacking people and animals near hitchcock drive. and amateur beekeeper notice the different type of bee in his yard and was attacked . the beekeeper's association put out a temporary hive with bait to attract the bees and destroy them. the plan seems to be working. >> there are few like one right there. there's not enough of the bees to bother anyone.
>> most of the bees are gone and a few are confined to one yard. they are suspected to be africanized killer bees that may have killed two dogs. lisa gilmore says public money is being spent at levi's stadium for private stadium events and nfl games. if that's true it violates the voter approved measure that led to the construction of the stadium. the mayor sessoms city workers including police officers told her privately they are working out -- their working hours were paid out of the city's general fund. the 49ers told the newspaper they have paid every bill they received and have no reason to believe they are not being billed for all hours that city workers put in for nfl events. golden state warriors getting ready to open up the finals against the oklahoma city thunder. steph curry says he is feeling good but andrew bogut

welcome back to mornings on two and san francisco police say the bay to breakers race had very few problems. the race called the running street party in the past with heavy drinking was more low-key this year. only five arrests for public intoxication and 23 arrests overall. 13 of those were traffic violations. only 10 medical calls and that may be because the weather was cool. the race which featured centipede teams and costumes as well as serious runners covered by 7 1/2 mile course from howard and main streets to the great highway. 40,000 people runners and first to cross the starting line with the super runners who are expected to make it through in less than 45 minutes.
the other people were more relaxed than it was about competing with friends than beating a clock.>> running a race so i am the flash in comics. >> and he will but old superman? >> no comment. >> superman knows. runners say as usual the hill was the toughest part of the race but even those who slowed down for the health say it was worth it. almost all the runners said they're looking forward to next year. getting back to the serious runners the men's winner was isaac mukindi of grand prairie texas with a time of 35:23. the winner for the women's division was jane kibii from auburn who ran it in 40:47. both are more than a minute slower than the course record.

on her front lawn near sacramento. it took her two days to paint it and it is positioned so the leaves of the tree frame his face and they stand in for his hair. the idea is not new for her. she created a mural in the same place to honor a television art instructor. >> i previously had another mural back here but it fell during the rain and by the time it fell prince passed away so i made a tribute to him. >> the new mural is attracting big crowds and she did a good job with it. she said she was inspired because she was listening to his son the most beautiful girl in the world when she found out he died. she says she hopes the mural inspires people to listen to prince. the three of us together again.>> i missed you guys. >> on the show today we have an
