perhaps inside the bay we will be slightly cooler. let's take a look at the graphics. there is that fog stretching from the edge of ocean beach in the north edge of the north bay coastline into santa cruz and waking up with gray skies this morning. onshore breeze will be local but it will be there and some of us will cool off a tad for the afternoon. right now 52 san francisco. a beautiful start for the big kearny ball and per rate going on. we had 57 in oakland, widespread 50s on the north bay. as we know as we get into the afternoon temperatures will soar in length and remain comfortable around the bay in the coastline. the warm up expected for tomorrow and how long this warm trend coming up. let's talk about the golden state warriors because this is magical. they had to pull the second straight elimination game

involved. today investigators plan to shift their focus in the search for the missing 15-year-old girl from pelayo. 15-year-old pearl pinson kidnapped at gunpoint on wednesday while on her way to school. yesterday crews searching once again that small coastal town of jenner in sonoma county but the search turned up empty and they don't plan to look there again. >> they were out there in the heat looking and working as hard as they could to find her that i thought a clue or something and there is nothing. we are back to square one. >> they plan to regroup and figure out where to concentrate their search efforts next. authorities think dickinson may be hurt that they are working on the assumption she is still alive. her kidnapper castro was an

>> reporter: the parade kicks off in a few hours but look, we are in the middle of 24th on harrison and they are getting the area ready. roberto fernandez, assistant director, here to tell us what we can expect.>> our theme is [ spanish ]. long-lived mother earth. we need to save the earth and we need to save our environment and we have a legendary grand marshal. 82 years old. a woman who has dedicated her life to saving the environment and to protect the rights of farmworkers. with that said we will have 78 entries in the parade. we have a group coming all the way from bolivia, 182 women dancing group. they are traditional dance and groups from nicaragua and
panama in brazil. >> that colors in the pageantry -- in the pantry take is amazing. dancers in costumes and outfits and energy.>> the carnaval takes a whole year so when we announced the theme every group begins to design costumes and they create music and build floats. it is a whole year process that it takes for people to put their parade unit together and that is what is so beautiful. when you see this you will never see it again. there is a new theme every year and new costumes and clothing. >> we will take a look at the route. it goes this way down through here down 24th. >> it starts in 24th and bryant and goes up 24th street to
mission street and then on mission street it travels down to 17 street and then on 17 street it travels to south van ness. we could go to the festival after the parade and have some amazing latin american and caribbean and african food and you also get to get some live entertainment and meet some dancers.>> when you said food, i am in. this is the hottest ticket in town. folks are lined up. this will be a blast.>> a few good seats still available.>> a lot of fun. hundreds of thousands out there. north bay, final day for a festival in napa. it's about food, music and a

francisco's mission district has been carnaval, the festival underway. music and culture of the traditions of latin america and the caribbean.>> carnaval isn't just about the party but the neighborhood. to really understand carnaval you have to understand the neighborhood that is hosting it. >> the mission district has the most amount of murals in the neighborhood then the whole world. >> you won't find this anywhere else. the murals are everywhere you look. >> yes. each one tells a story. >> there is a mural did the king the story of carnaval. >> a dancer from brazil who started one of the first dance schools in the neighborhood. >> this year when the festival takes over for the 38th year
the parade will roll right by. >> 24th and brian up towards the 24th and mission. >> 400,000 people packed the mission for this festival. executive producer hernandes has been a part of everyone. >> the first year it happened was something with a bunch of artists for fun. it was never really the vision for it to grow the way it has. >> hernandez is an artist. >> it is made out of black sand. i made it from the totally.>> planning carnaval is his full- time job and he does not take it lightly. >> for the mission right now with all of the evictions, we have had 10,000 people displaced and 8000 latino.>> carnaval is a statement, we are going nowhere. >> it is a celebration.>> it has every latin american and
caribbean country represented in the parade.>> as we walked around it was clear, it is an introduction to a culture and a community. >> this is an interesting block because we in the community take care of our own community. we support them over 20 years ago. you would never know but here there is a clinic. >> this neighborhood is rich with color and art and food. >> you have a bunch of revolutionary on the other side. the mission district is very rich with food. get a mexican breakfast and even the american breakfast has chilean it.>> what is the sign again?>> i will hit the
streets.>> they crews every year in the parade. >> it is the mecca of low riding in the bay. >> it's about taking a stand. >> we do make a statement and a bold statement. we are not shy about it. it is anger in the stronghold that we have. it has been a challenge because new people have moved in, for example, on harrison street they don't accept that they don't like it and we said when you moved in here you wanted culture but this is our culture. >> does it bring you together were deep in the divide? >> we made an effort to invite all of the community to learn about our culture. we will see if they come.
>> he says he hopes they do. he hopes they explore this neighborhood and get to know the people who live here. and the challenges they face. >> the banks taking over people's homes. >> get to know this neighborhood and you realize carnaval is more than a festival, a museum, a history lesson. it is simply the stage. >> in the mission we didn't have an opera or ballet or symphony and so carnaval has become that institution that brings together everybody in the streets become the theater.>> really colorful. it started out with a few people years ago. even back then they ended up doing all of these lapse because everybody wanted to do it. >> it is great for the younger generation as well.>> it started yesterday and today is

the issue of banning muslims and women and other groups. that will be a constant factor and a bigger factor as the campaign heats up.>> the california primaries are a key. clinton has been campaigning. bernie sanders as well. both of them are spending a lot of money on that. the margin has narrowed and they are in a dead heat right now in california. how much of a difference do you think this will make for clinton? >> there are two aspects to what is going on in california for hillary clinton. the fact she is having to spend all of this time and money and energy on california infighting sanders is time and money and energy she could be spending and would prefer to be spending against the republican nominee donald trump. point to, if she loses
california she will get the delegates she needs. she is 80 short of the 2383 she needs. she will go over the top. you don't want to go into the convention having lost the biggest state in the country limping in rather than coming in probably. she is on a losing streak. she had a couple of wins in the east in new york and pennsylvania but has lost a lot of states. oregon and indiana and if she were to lose california again she will still be the nominee but you will go in as a weekend in compromise candidate.>> what do you make of this inspector general regarding her email server. i know you will talk about it with your panel coming up. do you think this will affect her moving forward? do you think the public has heard enough about this. >> we will have to members of the intelligence committees on
capitol hill. we will have jim langford and adam shift is the top democrat on the house intelligence committee to talk about this. there were some damaging revelations contradicting a lot of what she said that she had gotten approval and she had not gotten approval and she turned everything over and she hadn't. that the system had never been hacked that there were at least three attacks that we know of that happened. i don't think any of that is as important as the source of the information. this is it -- is not coming from a house republican run committee where you cannot say that is partisan talk. this came from the department that she ran for four years from inspector general who was appointed by barack obama and the investigation was set under democrat wright. it was set by secretary of state john kerry who succeeded

a laundry detergent company in china is apologizing for a commercial that some people called racist. a woman is putting a man in a washing machine and he comes out a different race. this was on youtube and hit has been viewed 7 million times and made a lot of people upset. the company released a statement apologizing yesterday but it frames the media for an over application. authorities in santa falls county are searching for bodies of teenagers presume to drowned
in woodward reservoir. it is northeast of modesto. sheriff deputies say two 215- year-olds have not been seen when they jumped into the water yesterday. there is little hope they are still alive.>> mammy members -- family members not wearing life jackets in several members decided to jump into the reservoir. they were able to retrieve and get some back. we don't know why they jumped in and they lost sight of two boys.>> the boys were cousins with friends and family for a weekend outing. they have not been identified. tragic incident near modesto is a reminder of the importance of water safety. on the american river, they are checking both for alcohol. it is banned on the water on holiday weekends. alcohol is banned year-round on parts of the river. you should wear life jackets.

emergency crews have saved dozens of people but there are concerns at the death toll climbing. a guerrilla has been shot and killed at the cincinnati zoo after grabbing and dragging a boy fell into the enclosure yesterday afternoon. officials say the boy crawled through a barrier surrounding the gorilla habitat. two of the female gorillas when inside that a 17-year-old male gorilla picked up a young boy and dragged him back and forth so that is when this is a dangerous animal response team killed the gorilla. the boy remains in the hospital but is expected to survive. an american professional skydiver performed a tricky call call the human error. he jumped from a helicopter at 6000 feet wearing a wing suit that helps the maneuver. he flew to the -- at 120 miles

the a's couldn't be stopped. a's win 12-3. their first double digit win of the season. holiday weekend heat is raising concerns about fire danger around the bay. oakland bay is one of the most dangerous areas. fire crews are inspenting homes, telling property owners to clean up their yards or they will face fine. fire safety is especially important this summer. >> el nino was -- is part of the problem. the fine fuels have grown higher and thicker than they have in the past due to the precipitation. >> homeowners have to maintain at least 10 feet of defensible feet around their homes. 100 feet if the home is on a slope. sheriffs deputies have arrested a man in connection with a hit and run crash that killed two family dogs and injured their owner in saratoga. this man is now facing felony charges. deputies say they found him
after someone saw his truck from surveillance video broadcasted on the news. now, the dogs were both labradors. one sadie and the other chesley. they were out when a ford truck hit them. the dogs were rushed to a vet but the injuries were so severe, they had to be euthanized. neighbors say the area is dangerous for people out walking their dogs. >> a lot of people walk their dogs. there's no sidewalk to walk. everybody is on the road with their dogs. and it's -- if you're not following the speed limit, it's hard to react and stop. >> the dog's owner fell to the ground where the dogs were injured and he suffered moderate injuries. a north bay man is in jail facing drunk driving charges after a crash that killed a friend. he was taken into custody after
the accident in sonoma county. this happened early yesterday morning. investigators say he struck and killed a 27-year-old woman who was ejected from her own car after losing control of her vehicle. he was in a car right behind her. >> it appears she was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control and overturned. it appears she was not wearing her seat belt and she was ejected from her vehicle. she was then subsequently run over. >> investigators say it's still not clear if the woman died as a result of her own accident or being hit. terek and the woman had been drinking together at bars before the accident. the time is 8:38. one of san francisco's most colorful celebrations of the year. we're talking about the 38th annual carnavale festival. it celebrates music and culture and the traditions of

the fallen will see in their lifetime. it is here to memorialize those fallen soldiers. and everyone's support is important for that. >> it's reminiscent of the vietnam memorial wall. when people go up there, especially if one of your loved ones is listed on there, it must be emotional for families. >> it is extremely emotional. a lot of tears every time this goes up. there are a lot of tears and emotions going. we will be here tomorrow for memorial day. we have two in front of the memorial. we are expecting thousands of people to arrive here. arrive early memorial day. celebrations start at 11:00 in the morning. >> really a tremendous tribute to those who have given their

francisco. you see haze out there. the low clouds back along the coastline. the on shore breeze is back. we again are looking at a bit of a cooldown this morning. i have the 24-hour change map up for you here. you can see even our inland communities feeling the difference this morning. down by 8 degrees in livermore. 9 in fairfield. around the bay, 3 to 6 degrees cooler than we were yesterday. i stepped outside a moment ago to check it out and you can feel the sea breeze in and around the area. it will remain light. we will be warm once again today. especially the inland communities. the inner east bay will see temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s once again. we have a lot of 50s out there. now into the 60s. even areas like walnut creek reporting mid 60s to 70 degrees. we will talk about the dip coming your way for sunday. temperatures warm up monday. i will have a look at the extended forecast in a bit. claudine. >> thank you, rosemary.
let's talk about the road to the championship and the golden state warriors because the magic just continues? were you worried? don't worry. they have to play game 7 against the thunder. then there was clay thompson. he just slides in there. he brought the warriors within four points. warriors picked up the defense. a few minutes later, thompson buries another three-pointer. people were happy at the watch party. thompson gives the warriors a lead for good. but they did not stop there. it just kept going. there is clay. and then curry hops on in there, putting one in off the glass. there he goes. get in there. so good to see. never so good to see a ball go

challenge to the sharks but he says the players are looking forward to the opportunity. why not. game one set to go. it starts at 5:00 our time tomorrow night. turning now to other news. the california highway patrol is investigating a deadly solo car crash in the east bay. that happened shortly before 2:00 this morning in pleasanton. a black pickup truck crashed into a power pole. the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. the chp is trying to determine why the truck veered off the road. >> the person involved drove off the roadway. so speed could be a factor. we still have to look at if there's potential witnesses. >> it is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. the name of the drive has not yet been released. and we're following developing news out of sacramento county where the body of a father that went missing last sunday has been found. the body of 23-year-old tyler jackson was found last night in
the water near the bridge in walnut grove. his daughter kayleigh is still missing this morning. jackson and his daughter were visiting family last weekend but never made it home to sacramento. according to the sacramento bee, there was a metal object found under the water yesterday that could be a car. they have not confirmed what it is or if it belongs to jackson. foul play does not appear to be involved in the death. investigators will shift their focus in the search of a missing 15-year-old girl from vallejo. the man suspected of abducting her was killed in a shootout. the search did turn up empty and they don't plan to look for her there again. >> they were out there in this heat and looking and trying to
find her. but i just thought her backpack, a clue, something. and it's just nothing. and i feel like we're back to square one now. >> investigators say they do plan to regroup and figure out where to concentrate the search efforts next. authorities think penson may be hurt but they're working on the assumption that she is still alive. authorities also say her suspected kidnapper, castro, was an acquaintance of penson. her family will hold a individuality at 5:30 tonight at the same pedestrian bridge in vallejo where she was last seen alive this past week. the sheriff's department has set up a tip line to help find her. if you have any information that might help, you're urged to give them a call. you see the number. 707-784-1963. centerville police have issued a press release that says a missing elderly woman has been found safe. she was last seen on friday morning at her home on oakmont

save dozens of people. but there are concerns that the death toll could climb higher. it left a port in libya. a gorilla has been shot and killed at the cincinatti zoo after grabbing a young boy after he fell into the enclosure. the boy apparently crawled through a barrier, fell into the moot surrounding the gorilla habitat. two of the female gorillas obeyed commands to go inside. but the male gorilla grabbed the boy. that's when they opened fire and had to kill the gorilla. >> the team did a good job and made a tough choice and they made the right choice. because they saved that little boy's life. it could have been very bad. >> zookeepers reportedly used a tranquilizer on the gorilla as the child was rescued. the boy remains in the hospital this morning but is expected to survive. as people across the country honor veterans this memorial day weekend, police in
three states are investigating vandalism at veteran memorials. that includes here in california. there's a wall honoring vietnam veterans in los angeles that was sprayed with graffiti this week. a cross display was damaged after a driver plowed through it yesterday. that driver was arrested. in virginia, the petersberg battlefield was looted. all three incidents are being investigated. later today, veterans and their families will honor the crew of the uss san francisco. that ship was attacked during world war ii. the admiral chose to defend the group of lives of marines instead of retreating. veterans of the korean war will also be honored at the event. it is in front of the monument of the uss san francisco. and there will be memorial day events across the bay area tomorrow. we posted a link on ktvu.com.

the normal schedule starting at 3:00 tomorrow afternoon. the remainder of the work, that section of track, will be rescheduled. the last half of may has had a lot of happy endings for the giants and we get another one for you. let's start with buster posey. that was a three-run homer off of butler. it was gone. then he got another run in the 4th for a 4-0 lead. let's talk about baumgarten. he held rockies to one run in six innings. there was this homer by carlos gonzales that gave colorado a lead. but the giants battled back in the 8th, including another three-run homer by buster posey. they win a 10-5. and they wrap up the series this afternoon. the a's beat up on the
tigers. billy butler gets things going for oakland in the 2nd inning. there it goes. that is a solo home run. and then when we go to the 4th, danny valencia took his turn with the long ball. that was it for the tigers. a's could not be stopped. butler had a two-run single to start off a five-run inning. that followed a four-run inning. the a's win 12-3. the a's first double-digit win of the season. 9:38. santa clara sheriffs deputies have arrested a man in connection to a hit and run crash that killed two dogs and injured their owner. 44-year-old christopher is now facing felony charges. deputies found him after someone saw his truck from surveillance on the broadcast news. the dogs were sadie and
chudley. the dogs were rushed to a vet but the injuries were so severe that they had to be euthanized. neighbors say the area can be dangerous for people out walking their dogs. >> a lot of people walk their dogs. there's no sidewalk to walk. everybody is on the road with their dogs. and it's pretty much -- if you're not following the speed limit, it's hard to react and stop. >> the dog's owner fell to the ground when the dogs were hit and suffered moderate injuries. well, this morning a north bay man is in jail facing felony drunk driving charges after a bizarre accident that killed a friend. the chp says 28-year-old kyle of petaluma was taken into custody after the accident in sonoma county. it happened in the community of pengrove early yesterday morning. he struck and killed a 27-year- old woman who had been ejected from her own car after she lost control of the vehicle. he was in the car right behind
her. >> it appears she was traveling at a high rate of speed when she lost control and overturned. it appears she was not wearing her seat belt and she was ejected from her vehicle. she was then subsequently run over. >> investigators say it's not clear if she died as a result of her own accident or because she was hit by terek. the two had been drinking together at several bars and restaurants in petaluma before the accident. coming up, he has been following politics for decades. and he finds humor in it all, especially this year. will durst is joins us live. a look at the san francisco national cemetery ahead of its memorial day ceremony this weekend. ♪ hey!

of the coastline. thinning out some. i do think that we will remain partly cloudy and partly sunny for the coastline despite the breeze. we have the on-shore breeze with us. this is 4:00 in the afternoon. it won't be a strong one but it will be there. 5, 10, 15 miles per hour. as we get into the second part of the day, maybe you're seeing the a's play. it will be nice and warm. an on-shore breeze feels nice in the afternoon. notice the clouds holding tough to the coastline for the afternoon. we have 50s and 60s expected at the coast. 60s and 70s around the bay. inland, you have to go well inland to get into the upper 80s for the afternoon. temperatures coming down. the inner east bay, you are less likely to feel it but the numbers may cool a bit as well. 84 expected in novato. it will be 88 in walnut creek. upper 70s for the afternoon in oakland for that a's game.

pentagon. order that's came from washington, d.c. were sent here. we have people here from most every era of the conflicts that the united states have been engaged in. the famous general worked out out of here. so every era of the u.s. conflicts from the indian wars, spanish american war, iraq, afghan, people are buried here from all of the conflicts that the u.s. engaged in. >> reporter: park rangers say recent conflicts have people looking at it differently. >> since 9/11 and the new engagement overseas, it has become more timely to people in the bay area and across the country that memorial day takes on a new significance. maybe they question the
engagement of the united states in wars overseas and people are honoring people who stepped forward and sacrificed and lost their lives for the country. every year there seems to be a larger turnout on memorial day. >> do you think it's understanding or respect. >> i think it's a combination. when you remember someone who is lost, you bring them back into life. you bring them back to your living existence. and therefore they do not die. >> but while memorial day is always marked with a large ceremony, rangers say visitors come every day. sometimes searching for people they know. often they come to learn about the people who have come before. >> there's also an electronic grave locator at the entrance. so if you know the person's last name, you can look up your relative or the famous buffalo soldier who is buried here. >> we were just talking about
