are patrolling looking to see where these men are hiding. here is a picture of them the 26 old and the 33-year-old. they tell us that after 11 pm a correctional officer is doing a control check and some movement. he saw bedsheets and clothing tied together coming from the second story window of the jail. they spotted to inmates and they caught them. the other two, they were able to get away. the sergeant. told us that they used something to cut the bars in front of the windows. it is unknown if they are armed they could be since they used something to cut away at those metal bars. there are 45 deputies searching. there are also canine setter searching. >> local law enforcement is aware. the pd is in the surrounding area around the main jail. it is definitely increasing
their patrol tax. so, it's all hands on deck for thanksgiving. >> and, detectives are looking into known associates of the inmates and are likely making contacts. it's been seven hours in the escape though it's unknown how far they have gotten but their escape has been broadcasted to law enforcement statewide to be out on the lookout. campbell is 6 foot four and 220 pounds was being held for robbery criminal threat and firearms violations the other inmate is 6 foot one 190 pounds. he was in jail for firearms violations. do not try to approach them. i should mention, while we are here, a little less than 2 miles away is where the turkey trot run is happening and thousands of people are
expected to come to that area of downtown san jose we contacted then they told us that they are not changing anything, they are ready have 100 officers down in the area just for security for the event. but just be aware it's still about 2 miles away from where the scene is. >> so, he reported the investigators will be talking to these men on the outside, is there any idea on whether or not investigators are looking to whether they had any help inside of the jail? >> reporter: ensure that that is something that they will look into. right now they said their focus is the search. and, they didn't want to get too much into the specifics of what the downtown to 10 -- of what the detectives are doing but yes, you know what went wrong it sets up a red flag of

morning it got off to a terrible start on the roadways a woman was killed in a three- car accident on 580 on 580 near hwy. 13 in oakland authorities say that one car collided with another vehicle causing the car to go off of the road and slam into a tree killing the woman moments later a third car rear- ended the other vehicle no one was hurt in the second vehicle. the 518 was closed for three hours it is now back open and as it is every year, they highway patrol has extra officers out on patrol this thanksgiving weekend to make sure that drivers are safe. their biggest concern is your driving. >> the most important thing is that people drive sober. a lot of holidays, a lot of families, getting together and they be people are having a little bit of a drink. so, we want to ensure that they designate a sober driver. >> the chp maximum enforcement day is until midnight. you are encouraged to call 911. san francisco memorial
church is serving breakfast. here's a live picture, plenty of volunteers are coming together to put this meal together. they started lining up outside early this morning for the first hot meals. volunteers will serve today this will go for about 90 more minutes and then, the volunteers that you see here are going to start setting up for thanksgiving dinner that will start at 9 am and it's going to run until 1:30 pm. the guests are also invited into the church sanctuary for thanksgiving services. police and firefighters are also taking part in a thanksgiving tradition today they will be carving turkeys in putting together hundreds of thanksgiving meals then, they are going to use their own patrol in emergency vehicles to deliver those meals to senior citizens who are unable to leave their homes. the event is organized by the senior center in san francisco. >> players on the football team at catholic high school are giving back and giving thanks.

7:22 am. san jose police are looking for a missing at risk man. the 73-year-old went missing from a home in san jose yesterday morning. authorities issued a silver alert just a few hours ago. they say he suffers from a medical condition one that can cause them to become disoriented. he is described as an african- american man 6 foot tall. his -- is 120 pounds. he was last seen wearing a green jacket gray sweater and black dress shoes. his last seen driving a white lexus suv similar to the one on your screen with a california license plate. if you see him, you are urged to call the san jose police department. tributes are pouring in for a college campus police officer in detroit was killed in the line of duty the 29-year-old

more than 3 million people were on the streets watching the macy's thanksgiving stay parade. some of the biggest attractions, the giant balloons, they spend hours pumping them full of helium. newborns include snoopy and the trolls. felix the cat and kermit are some of the old-timers. is planning them to fill up with helium it takes about a year to get them ready. the reporter giving a look behind the scenes at the preparations for the thanksgiving day parade. what's your favorite balloon here? >> the trolls because we just saw the movie. >> yes. >> i love it i have it and it's so much fun. >> the dinosaur.

and afternoon highs back to you. the new information about breaking news on the manhunt. >> law enforcement are searching for two escaped inmates. janine is live with what you just learned about them >> reporter: yes, we have learned that the jail is on lockdown. inmates are not allowed to leave their cells and no visitors are allowed. then, this is because an active search is happening you can see that there is a presence here in the sheriffs deputies we are here at san pedro and there is a lot of police patrolling looking to see where these two men are hiding. here's a picture. the 26-year-old lanon campbell and 33-year-old rogelio chavez. sheriffs officials tell us that just after 11 pm, a correctional officer was during a patrol check and saw movement.
he looked up and he saw bedsheets and clothing tied together coming from a second story window of the gl -- jail they caught them. the other two -- there were four inmates, they caught two of them. they used something to cut the bars in front of those windows it is unknown if they are armed. >> this is the oldest section of the jail. so there were not surveillance cameras. right now it is just an active search. >> -- >> reporter: there are 45 deputies, canines that are searching creeks and wherever the dog can pick up the scent, police are assisting and detectives are also looking into known associates of those inmates. they are likely making contact with them. their escape has been broadcasted statewide to be on the lookout. lanon campbell is 6'4", 220 pounds.
he was being held on robbery, criminal threats. the other inmate rogelio chavez, 6'1", 190 pounds, has a distinctive facial tattoo. and he was in jail for burglary, extortion, and firearms violations. if you see any of them do not try to apprehend them. you are asked to call 911 and a couple of miles away from the scene here, at the mainsail, the turkey trot run is going on were thousands go to do all kinds of fun things as well as that festival. there are police officers, about 100 of them who are working the event. and, be aware if you head down to the downtown area that you will see a heavy police presence. hundreds of volunteers descendent on the memorial church and, all busy preparing food for the thanksgiving dinner and that has to start with that main course coming up

we are learning new details that authorities are calling a hate crime. >> the victim was black the three suspects are white. >> williamson's was a gifted piano player and jazz player. now, a memorial of flowers and candles sits near a pool hall where investigators say that three white men killed the african-american man in an attack motivated by hate. >> this particular case involves race. >> assured sergeant. spotted his body in the street outside of the capri club. locals described it as a biker bar. >> it was at the capri club >> the sergeant. thought he had been hit by a
car. but the richmond man had been beaten and shot. investigators have identified three men as suspects. hate crime killings are not too common. >> it's rare luckily. any time that a murder occurs under any circumstances, it is a huge tragedy. >> the 31-year-old has been arrested and charged with murder along with a special circumstance of robbery and a hate crime. from jail he declined to be interviewed. two other men, lanon campbell and rogelio chavez are being sought. both are considered armed and dangerous they are -- they arrested ortega has mother. friends of the victim are struggling to understand why someone like since could fall victim to such hate. >> he was the most charismatic caring and loving person that you could know. he always put others first no matter what that situation was he made friends with everyone.

>> reporter: yes, this is a very bold move by the inmates as they actually tied together bedsheets and clothing and then, threat outside a second -- through that outside of a second story window. this happened in the part of the jail that is behind this building. this whole area is blocked off. that's because the jail is on lockdown. not too far away going on right now is the turkey trot thousands of people are in downtown san jose that is of course still going on plenty of officers are doing security so, you can head down to that area. but don't be surprised if you see a lot of police patrol. dozens of deputies are looking for these two men. deputies say that it appears that they had used something to cut those bars and that's how they got out at about 11 pm.

police and 85-year-old man shot and injured a relative in an attempted murder suicide. investigators say that the man walked into the nursing and rehabilitation center and shot the 85-year-old an attempt to take her out of her suffering and turned the gun on himself. they are both in the hospital expected to survive. and, investigators are in contact with the das office about the possibility of filing charges. a manhunt continues in virginia for the suspect wanted for a deadly shooting early thanksgiving morning. investigators say the security guard was escorting a 26 road suspect when the suspects opened fire. he ran away before they could respond.
