flames. the man is identified as a man in the 30s. no information on the driver of the suv. the northbound lanes were closed for several hours as crews cleaned up. the lanes just reopened in the last 30 minutes. we talk to chp about the dangers of driving it might. >> when driving at night, try to stay out of the fast lane. number one because when somebody is driving the wrong way, they think that is the slow lane, and you might collide with the wrong way driver. >> no word on whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash. investigation goes on in berkeley after an amtrak train hit and killed two people. it happened last night just after a the clock on the union pacific track near fourth street and bancroft way. the passenger train was near the berkeley station when two people walking on the track were hit by the train. we don't know the victim's names. no one on the train was hurt, but four trains were delayed. that investigation continues.

instead of protecting them, they wanted to kill him.>> family members say they had a working relationship with the police before the shooting, and that police officers knew about his mental health condition before that call came in. the walnut creek city attorney released this statement." based on the preliminary feedback the city has received from the district attorney's office and the city's internal review, the city believes the officer's actions were justified under the dangerous and dynamic circumstances they faced. now some new information about the boat fire that killed 34 people off the santa barbara coast. as they review the ntsb preliminary report, all members were asleep when the fire started and that there was no nightwatchman as is required. the sheriff of santa barbara county said there is no plans to file criminal charges for now. we cannot talk about any criminal charges at this point,

when minnis fought a lawsuit against an officer after he said the officer beat him and held him at gunpoint in the middle of a busy shopping complex. the officer was off duty and followed a minor argument. mcglocklin is the same officer who was put on the five months later after he detained a man for reporting a traffic stop from his own front porch. the city of vallejo is also the target of several other officer misconduct cases and has hired an independent firm to assess his police department.>> our time now, 7:14 am. pg&e reached an $11 -- $11 million settlement with insurance companies over the 2017-2018 wildfires. pg&e said a tentative settlement will cover 85% of insurance claims from -- for the campfires from paradise and

green -- for the campfires in paradise. pg&e offered eight four -- eight point $4 billion in one settlement and the lawyers turned it down. they are trying to get approval for its bankruptcy organization plan. if they reach a deal to leave bankruptcy by june 30th, it will be eligible to take part in the wildfire insurance fund set up by the state earlier this year. that fund will pay claims and limit liabilities to the majors -- to the major utility companies with damages from wildfires in the future. let's get back to the bay area heat. a lot of us who live inland do not have air conditioning. people who live in the far inland area, they do. did you find yourself out in livermore this weekend? >> i will be there for the winery and the alameda county food bank event. is a wonderful event. steve, you said it is going to

the spinach and some of its salads, bowls, and raps tested positive for e. coli. some have not been shipped out before the e. coli was discovered, but the 76 individual bowls and raps that may contain the spinach are unaccounted for. they recalled urban products which have a use by date of september 15th. no illnesses have been reported. san jose city council member wants tighter rules for stores that sell self -- flavored e cigarettes. they said the city's tobacco license ordinance needs to be updated to align with state law. right now, san jose allows any a shop or tobacco reseller to operate without a city license if they ban people from under 18 to come in from the store. since 2016, state laws prepared people to be 21 years old. so that is for e-cigarette some vaping products. the cigarette maker, juul, is considering adoption by the

fund. that is established by the state earlier this year. the phone will play claims and limit liabilities for the major california utilities for damage from wildfires in the future. we are getting a better idea for how much it will cost to recover from the devastating floods in sonoma in february. the company contained 51 projects costing $56 million. the taxpayers will be responsible for more than $10 million of that. the originestimate was less than half of that $56 million. county leaders tell the democrat that they have reached a milestone in the process and fema will reimburse the county for much of the infrastructure repairs. the flooding caused a total of $155 million in damage, including $92 million to private homes. the bay area is blanketed today with heat, and some cities will get close to record highs. we are live at ocean beach in san francisco. any people, christina, will be heading to that spot looking for some relief from that
