right numbers. the powerball is inches to a billion dollars. let's take a lack at i-70 and floyd hill. we're starting to see westbound traffic heavy now. tracy is going to break down all the traffic details in just a moment. good morning. i'm jessica oh with vida urbonas. first we begin with a story all new. denver police are investigating a shooting on south harrison street. one person was shot and taken to the hospital. we're told the victim is in stable condition and police have not identified a suspect. denver police are investigating an armed robbery in the stapleton area. it happened at the super eight

police are in the initial stages of the investigation. more details about a shooting in adams county. lamo-- home invasion on east 35th place. meanwhile, authorities are looking for a second suspect. they want your help finding quintin watts. if you know where he is call the adams county sheriff's office. so we're a little jealous of belen and ryan who are live at the national western stock show. looks like you're having fun. >> what a way to kick off a saturday morning than with cute images of llamas and alpacas. look at this cute guy. this guy is thinking the same thing. the national western stock show

high for today will be 27 degrees. and there are some spots waking up to light snow. and lower visibility. but eventually, we'll see the skies clear, turn partly cloudy and the high today is not going to get very warm. we'll have a high of 27 degrees. the stock show continues through the 24th. let's take a look at doppler. in northern colorado we've been seeing the light snow. and here in the metro area a bit of mist and a possibility for scattered snow showers in the high country but no travel advisories are in effect. in some spots you know that visibility has dropped. i'm not looking at any advisories in effect as far as fog goes. chilly. map. we are much colder than where we were 24 hours ago. and into this afternoon, the highs are going to be in the 20s.

drive times have skyrocketed just the last 30 minutes. we were at 45 minutes for the drive time and now 75 minutes. everyone is kind of leaving the city at the same time this morning. all the way from floyd hill through idaho springs. average speed now the whole way out, about 35 miles per hour. that's a good thing because you may run into slick spots. hopefully, the slower speeds will avoid the accidents. and as you come into idaho springs, dropping to 22 miles per hour. we've had a few slowdowns around the tunnel. they were not impacting drive times a lot. heading westbound, 76 minutes just to get to the tunnels. take it slow and you may want to wait now if you haven't hit the road yet. wait until after the influx of

military officials raided a home in joaquin el chapo guzman's home state. troops hauled him off in a helicopter to head back to the same maximum facility. and he broke out of prison six months ago to face charges here and there as well. and there's no word on if he'll be extradited to the u.s. alarming details about the man accused of ambushing a police officer in the name of islam. family members told the philadelphia inquirer the attacker was hearing voices. he admitted the attack was inspired by isis. surveillance video from late thursday night shows the shooter walking up to police and that cruiser and opening fire.

return fire and is expected to survive. they say it's pretty clear they all knew isis was no good. he's being held without bail and faces terrorism charges. he lied about traveling to syria to fight in the civil war. investigators believe he came back to the u.s. and then joined isis. a muslim woman was kicked out of donald trump's campaign night. she was escorted away after standing up during the speech of syrian refugees. trump was at a rally and claimed his opponent voted in favor of going to war. >> i told you i didn't want to go to iraq. i'm the only one. hillary voted for it.

it doesn't matter. >> one problem with that statement. paul was not in iraq at the time. he was elected in 2010. family members and members of the community are calling for the department of justice to investigate after the death of a denver jail inmate was ruled a homicide. a medical investigation reveals michael marshall suffocated in november after being restrained by officers. six deputies were put on restricted duty after the encounter. a criminal investigation is being done but that's not enough. they want justice. >> this has to change today. we need you to hear, the department of justice. we want you to come investigate the denver police department, the denver sheriff's department and the city and the office of safety because we have no more confidence:

will have to decide if any charges fit in this case. a man is facing charges in connection with a string of burglaries in the metro area because he didn't cover his tracks. six burglaries were reported in englewood, most of them on south broadway and east hampden. it snowed overnight and police found footprints leading from one business to another. officers followed the tracks to an apartment complex across the street. investigators say the suspect may be tied to other smash and grabs in the metro. there have been 40 burglaries in the past two weeks. >> caught in his tracks. $800 million. the powerball jackpot is the largest in u.s. history. you might want to get the ticket. the pot went up in $50 million increments all week. the drawing is tonight.

are all part of the forecast. and we should see some clearing with skies turning partly cloudy and highs at 27 degrees. we'll be way below that. here's doppler nine. this is what we've got going on. the snow is gradually coming to an end. and we have light snow in northern colorado and the high country. the travel advisories have expired and you'll bump into the icy and snow packed roads in the high country and the metro area. the temperatures for today are going to be in the 20s. here's where we start off. we have teens and single digits and in the high country, we have temperatures below zero. we're gradually going to warm high country. check out the high for today. you'll have to wear the jackets wherever you're headed. and radar and satellite is going to be a bit clearer in the metro area. the you. and a possibility for scattered

we're not going to see a dumping but a little accumulation is possible as we go throughout saturday and drier on i-5 and the eastern -- i-25 and the eastern plains. tonight with the partial clearing an overnight low of 8 degrees in the city and lows across the state dropping into the single digits in spots. on the front range more single digits. greeley, sterling, a low of three. and could get closer to the goose egg tomorrow morning. tomorrow will start off cold and it's going to be a high of 34 degrees. so not as cold as today. monday, 36 degrees. tuesday we're in the 40s. and wednesday is looking like a really nice day. looking like the pick day of the week.

we have brooke lining us from the rescue organization. she came as a surrender, right? >> she came from a shelter. the family moved out of the country and dumped her at the shelter before they left. not a good plan. >> she has some health issues. >> she's on a wiper reiner weight loss program. and we're looking to get her in better shape. >> you know what i love about her. she's used to being with a family and probably knows some commands. >> yeah, she's great with kids and cats and is relaxed in the house.

get to 27 degrees. now on doppler nine some light snow falling in northern colorado. and in the high country all check out the visibility. there are going to be spots with a bit of fog this morning. take it slow out there. that on top of the icy and snow packed roads and it could be a problem if you're trying to get around this saturday morning. the temperatures right now, check it out. it's chilly. if you're going outside to walk your llama it's going to be a chilly one. temperatures will be in the single digit and the highs will be in the 20s. at least with some sunshine that could feel a little bit better but you're not going to want to go outside without wearing a jacket. it's going to be cold all the way through 10 a.m. when we have temperatures around 19 degrees.

let's go back and meet the alpaca. we met a llama before. alpacas are different. and we didn't know the difference when we walked in today. >> obviously, you can see the size difference from behind us. llamas-- think of llamas as the workhorse. think of alpacas as the fiber bearing animals. and they are definitely smaller and have arrow shaped ears on the side of their heads and llamas have banana shaped ears. alpacas are surprised for their fiber. this one has straight hair. and the other style offal pa ya is called a -- and there's a teddy bear looking animal. they are judged on fiber and color. and llamas are just judged on

>> tell us what that is. dog show. we're just not going to run with our animals. alpacas. spit. we'll learn more coming up. >> so far they've been nice. we are seeing an influx of traffic. a lot of people hitting the roads at the same time. right before the sun came up. twitter. and you see a high volume of and we have seen the drive time increase in the last hour. you have to add an hour or hour time. floyd hill is slow going. the average speed is 27 miles per hour. minutes. we have over doubled what we had an hour ago.

the same time. and earlier than we normally see it. we're seeing slow going through idaho springs and heading out idaho springs, smooth sailing through georgetown and then around the tunnels, on and off clear. the slowdowns are not impacting travel too much but the drive times and speeds slowing down. who can blame them. powder. and a chain law was just put out. >> west past the tunnel heading to vail or farther west on i-70 you need the wheel drive and the chains for commercial vehicles. you can listen to mountain travel radio for traffic conditions on i-70 between denver and vail. and hear traffic reporters giving up to the minute conditions.

broadcasting every friday afternoon and the holiday mondays when everybody is trying to get back. authorities in arapahoe are looking for a couple of armed robberies. a robbery was reported at the western convenience store on south parker road. both men were black males and wearing black hoodies. they are still at large. and we're waiting to get more information on this and we'll bring it to you here and online. in world news this morning. security remains high outside a hotel in egypt where militants attacked tourists. they attacked the bella vista hotel at the red sea resort. several people were stabbed and are expected to survive. security forces killed one attacker and arrested another. tornado reconnaissance will join nato's air base in

hospital to a private facility. they released a statement expressing gratitude and appreciation to all of those who have prayed for him. this is the transition to the next stage of recover. and he continues to make remarkable strides. he was found unconscious at the love ridge brothel in nevada. tomorrow's afc wildcard team. one hospital hosted a pep rally. the hospital's nursery was filled with infants swaddled in terrible towels and caps. the caps were made by a group of volunteers. a father in florida took a toy car out for a joyride still in a diaper. the 3-year-old was driving on a busy highway with nobody else with him.

and we'll learn more about archer coming up. it's the configuration day of the national western stock show. and this is a colorado tradition. and people come from all over stock show. and in typical fashion it's going to be cold. and someone asked it's a given. it's the stock show. the high will be 27 degrees and areas with clouds and low visibility and light snow up to northern colorado but mainly dry in the city. be prepared to go outside and see the cold temperatures. the snow is falling in northern colorado very lightly. we don't have any travel advisories. but still icy and snow packed roads are a possibility. visibility is lower in some areas so keep that in mind if you're hitting the roads. the temperatures in the teens and 20s and some single digits. the high for today will not budge much. highs in the mid- to upper 20s on i-25.
