visible flaring and noise. denver fire says emissions from today are not hazardous. yesterday's release did not pose any immediate release to the community. air quality tests are on going. record setting heat today in denver. we hit 85 degrees at dia breaking a record setback in 2014 by 2 degrees. the heat on top of dry conditions have the national weather service warning of near critical wildfire for parts of colorado, wyoming. more in the full forecast coming up later. right now crews in eagle count i are trying to fight a wildfire near the towns of meridith and thomasville. the sheriff's office says evacuations are possible and people should avoid that area. we'll share updates as we learn them online at 9news.com. hillary clinton is taking a

elizabeth warren will campaign for hillary clinton. sanders will also be at cu boulder on monday to support amendment 69. also on monday, the centennial gun club is hosting donald trump junior at an event that starts at 10:30 a.m. that day. denver police spent the day searching a motel on colfax where a woman was shot and killed overnighted. this hne the airway motel. police remained on scene several hours later while waiting for a warrant to search other rooms. they did not release any details about the victim. the pacific northwest braced for another round of rough weather. heavy rain stranded drivers in portland last night and two tornadoes touched down on oregon's coast.

was like to see a twister move up the coast. >> you could tell because it was moving so fast that it was veering off toward ocean side. we're right here so it was coming toward us, but then it just started going up the coastline moving extremely fast as we were taking our video and going toward ocean side. it was pretty intense at the moment, but you could tell from where we were at headed toward us. >> forecasters say wind gusts as high as 50 miles per hour could sweep through seattle tonight. the u.s. and some 150 other nations reached a deal overnight to limit the use of green house gases. dell gates at the climate conference agreed to cap their use in 2019. the deal is legally binding.

>> reporter: steven davis doesn't wait long. >> it started young. i was a safety patrol officer at school. some 50 years later i retired as a police officer and had a really good career. i was also a volunteer firefighter at one time. >> reporter: steve's one of the guys they say was born to do what he does. 6 year old riley is one of those guys too. >> anything deal withing firefighters he loves. >> reporter: just ask his mom. >> riley saw the e gotta help. >> for him to want to go to a structure fire and want to help -- >> reporter: steve heard about riley's day with aurora firefighters and saw that his uniform -- >> was a little small. >> reporter: -- could use an upgrade. >> we also got him these authentic fire boots. they're about as real as you can get. >> reporter: what started as a special tour of the fire station on a saturday was

and that landed his parents in jail. in the years since, it has been named the most memorable hoax. for two months in a row, denver based frontier came in last for flight arrivals. the federal government in august ranked frontier last among 12 major carr. just below 6%. over the summer, frontier dealt with staffing issues with a contractor that provided ramp services at dia. it is now working with a new contractor. the dog days of summer may be over, but welcome the dog days of fall.

hey there, happy saturday. danielle grant here in the 9 backyard. the whole world was outside today as we saw temperatures soar into the 80s in. denver, we broke that record. 85 now stands in the record books. our old record, 83 setback in 2014. upper 80s across the far eastern plains. it was a hot one with the sunshine. about 72 degrees in steamboat and low 80s in grand junction. right now at loads of sunshine with the winds out of the east northeast now. here in the 9 backyard, it's a comfortable saturday afternoon. watching the temperatures sitting at 84. it has dry across two-thirds of the country. now real wet weather to speak of except for this one. this monstore of a storm just about to approach portions of

showers. but the winds will be the worst. high wind warnings on the coastline until 2:00 in the morning. that's when we're anticipating 50 mile-per-hour gusts in seattle and south toward portland. flash flood watches will be in place for parts of idaho as well. remnants of what was a typhoon now captured in the jet stream and pushes as that front marchs through, look at that. another one back behind it. no relief in sight as rain, winds will be part of the forecast for the next week. no rain around here, only gusty winds. tonight we're going to be watching the winds picking up 10 to 20 miles per hour. keeping our temperatures pretty comfortable overnight in the 40s and 30s across eastern colorado and a little cooler up in the mountains.

fantastic. by 9:00 tomorrow morning, you wake up, it's good to about. a few clouds start increasing out to the west. the moisture stays clear of colorado. by 5:00, still looking good and 10:00 p.m. looking at mostly clear skies. the caveat for tomorrow's forecast, we'll have the heat and gusty winds. high fire danger around here, red flag warnings in place for the northern foothills. this continues until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow even. not too bad the rest of this evening. around midnight, the winds just start peaking up in the foothills. 8:00, 9:00 you're walking up in estes park, idaho springs, 40 to 50 mile-per-hour wind gusts easily. some of these upon will be

be seeing 15 to 20 mile-per- hour gusts in northern colorado. as we head toward sunday evening into monday, that's when i think we will have the worst of the wind. a very powerful jet is going to be pushing in across the area. this means high wind watches in place. areas above 9,000 feet above timber line could see 80 mile- per-hour mile-per-hour wind gusts. anticipating to be in the mid- 40s. it's going to be a very windy next couple of days. tomorrow a hot one at 85. we stay in the 80s and 90s in east colorado. it's going to be a scorcher with all the sunshine. 70s on monday. keeping it slightly seasonal on tuesday. finally a few showers pour in
