today will bring light scattered showers to the area with a high of 54. the second system coming in tuesday has a lot more moisture associated with it and will produce wide spread showers and snow for our local mountains. the high tuesday will be 54 degrees with more rain expected into wednesday. a winter storm watch is in effect tuesday morning through wednesday for snow fall levels dropping down to 5000ft & 3-8 inches of snowfall expected. daytime temperatures will be in the 50's all week long with a chance of showers sticking with us through the week before becoming slight chances through the weekend. here's your fox5 traffic solutions here is a look at your drive here are the

routes you can use listed on our maps here are the construciton areas to look out for and alternate routes listed on our maps here are your photos for the day back to the news desk. metro is urging metro is investigating its first pedestrian it happened just before 9-30 last night near durango and sahara. metro says the woman was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when she was hit and killed by a jeep. the driver of the s-u-v did stay on the scene. and metro says they did not appear to be impaired. after years of delays... the trial for the former las vegas pastor accused of sexually assaulting young girls in his congregation starts today. 59-year-old otis holland faces life in prison if convicted. before his arrest, holland was featured on

he's been in jail since his arrest in 2012. police say he sexually assaulted girls as young as seven during "counseling" sessions. holland has pleaded "not guilty" to 17 felony charges including child sexual assault, lewdness and bribing a witness. the mother of a man shot and killed by police held a news conference on saturday and says, despite the claims by metro, her son was never wanted for attempted murder "im very angry. very angry. because how many other mother losing kids. its okay because you're a police officer to kill people. it's not." "he was not wanted for murder as they keep saying, i want that clarified. my son never murdered nor accused of murdering somebody. i want his name cleared of that." "i want justice for my son, and im going to get justice for my son." 23-year-old keith

was shot and afternoon near cimarron. were assisting u-s marshals in arresting childress, who's accused of multiple felonies in arizona. they say when they initially approached him, he was holding what they believed to be a gun. they told him to drop the firearm, but childress advanced towards them. that'she wn officers opened fire. turns out childress was holding a cellphone. he died at the scene. behind bars this morning, in connection to a homicide outside a 24-hour fitness last week. 27-year-old kyle staats and 19-year-old megan hippie were arrested this past weekend. police say a man was sitting in his car outside the gym parking lot near rainbow and alta, last tuesday, when another vehicle pulled up. employees and gym members heard at least one gunshot. officers found the victim's vehicle rolled into a parking median and the driver's side window shattered. the victim died at the scene. both suspects face charges of

murder and attempted robbery with a deadly weapon. staats has also been charged for possession of a stolen vehicle. no word yet on a motive. metro investigators still peicing together the motive for a deadly shooting at a casino near nellis airforce base. it happened around 3 a-m saturday near craig and nellis at the siegel slots and suites. police say an fight broke out -- resulting in shots fired. one person was killed, and another injured. officers do not have a suspect description at this time. no arrests have been made. investigating singer chris battery, after allegedly punching a woman in the face police say they got the call saturday morning. the victim says she was at a party the palms hotel with the singer take a picture of him. she claims he got upset, hit her.. then took her the woman was escorted out of the room by brown, who was performing at

president obama is back in washington and ready to fight his first battle of 2016. he is scheduled to meet with attorney general loretta lynch today to discuss executive action on gun control. he previewed today's meeting during his weekly media address: president obama says: "i get too many letters from parents, and teachers, and kids, to sit around and do nothing. i get letters from responsible gun owners who grieve with us every time these tragedies happen; who share my belief that the second amendment guarantees a right to bear arms; and who share my belief we can protect that right while keeping an irresponsible, dangerous few from inflicting harm on a massive scale. the chief executive is expected to use an executive order to strengthen background checks required for gun purchases. it's an idea that's being shot full of holes at gun shows around the nation.. yager says: people get guns if they

don't go buy them .they steal them at some shows people are rushing in to buy guns and ammo before any proposed change: patrilla says: "you can't depend on law enforcement,, they try but they can't get there in time." in addition to today's meeting with the attorney general.. president obama is also schedule to participate in a town hall meeting on gun violence. the meeting will take place on thursday night at george mason university. in washington.. kelly wright.. fox news hundreds of armed militia members have taken over the headquarters of a wildlife refuge in oregon. among them, the sons of nevada rancher cliven bundy. a spokesman for the group says they're there in support of two ranchers set to return to prison, today to serve a second term on an arson conviction. the protestors say they were unfairly punished and targeted for refusing to sell their land. while prosecutors say the ranchers started those fires on purpose to cover up

"faraday future" is expected to unveil a new concept car today. the electric car company says it will happen tonight. last month -- nevada lawmakers approved a 335-million dollar deal to bring "faraday future" vegas. the factory is about 45-hundred jobs to the state. hundreds competed at a-t- and-t's largest annual hackathon. this weekend's event focused on creating the best overall app. developers... designers.... and interested in using technology came together for the competition. last year -- an app that prevents people from falling asleep behind the wheel took first prize.

wright was talking about gun violence in his community... when police say a man walked into the church carrying a rifle... the pastor walked up to the gunman and asked "can i help you". the man asked the pastor to pray for him. wright took the rifle... hugged the gunman then prayed with him. the pastor says the man committed his life to jesus... then apologized to those inside the church. police arrested the man. he was voluntarily committed to a mental health facility. a henderson family who lost everything in a fire celebrates a late christmas thanks to firefighters. a house fire destroyed the family's belongings just three days after christmas. the henderson fire department and "operation fire heat" teamed up to help them shop for basic needs... but the gifts were an extra surprise! sunday -- firefighters showed up with all the presents for the family of five. this is the seventh family "operation fire heat" has helped this holiday season. we found a little boy who really
