talking about the change in the ranks the day after head coach dave rice left the program. and thousands of locals are crossing borders this week in hopes of winning the powerball... we find out why we can't just play here in nevada. this is fox5 news at 6. local. las vegas henderson police investigating their first homicide of the year. i'm christine maddela. i'm john huck. someone called 9-1-1 this morning about a domestic disturbance. when officers arrived ... they found a man dead inside a home. fox5's les krifaton is outside of that home near patrick and stephanie... les .. police have now made an arrest.. henderson police have arrested the victims 22 year old son.....daron clanton. around 11:35 this morning. artived at the scene and found a man dead inside the home along his

we are still in the process of trying to determine what happened. henderson police public information officer michelle french outside the home where police were called monday morning. the initial call came in at 11:35 and we're still trying to determine what happened. we have two people being interviewed at this time. what their relationship is to the dead man police would not say. the scene remains active through the afternoon but there wasn't much activity inside or outside the home for a reason. we are waiting for a search warrant to be executed and at this point still doing our investigation. maggie carrillo who lives a few doors down and across the street from the crime scene came home in the early afternoon - but says she didn't know the people living there. i've never really seen anyone coming in and out of the that house ever since i've been here.i don't know maybe we are just on diferent schedules or what. as for whether she is shocked about someone losing their life a few

what she had to say. this is las vegas and everything happens here. unfortunately its not really news to the residents of las vegas. it is shockng that it happened right on my street. that warrent was executed more than an hour ago and now a team of henderson police are gathering evidence inside the home. again police have arrested 22 year old daron clanton in connection with the murder. name of the victim has not been released there were four homicides all of last year in henderson in downtown las vegas this morning, an employee of las vegas academy found a person's body on campus. metro police were called in to investigate around 5:30. no students were at las vegas academy when the body was found near the back of the building. class remained in session. at this time, no

found ... but police say it appeared to be a suicide. warm springs road between durango and cimmaron continues to be closed tonight following a crash. here's a live look at the scene. metro says just after 2-30 this afternoon - two cars collided - shutting down warms springs in both directions. two people were taken to university medical center with critical injuries. no word yet on who was at fault. drivers are being encouraged to avoid the area. happening right now .. a special meeting of the clark county school district board sex education advisory committee. members will be discussing definitions, objectives, and materials for secondary sex education. according to the agenda for this meeting, it covers curriculum about everything from contraceptives.. to rape .. to sexually transmitted diseases. there is also time set aside for public comment. we are inside the meeting taking place at the greer education center on flamingo and will bring you the details of what happens tonight on fox five news

prosecutors say they will not be charging former nba star lamar odom with any crimes. back in october of last year .. odom was found unconscious at a brothel in nye county with cocaine in his system. district attorney angela bello says the evidence didn't prove that odom used the drug during his three days in the county, so he could not be charged there. gas prices around the country are going down the average price dropping to just 2.05 a gallon. and industry analysts predict it could fall to just a dollar a gallon this year.. in some areas. the national average is 15 cents lower per gallon this year compared to last year at this time. the cost for crude oil is declining . the average cost for a gallon here in las vegas has dropped 5 cents in
