a henderson home. police say there was a domestic disturbance monday morning at a home near patrick and stephanie. officers found a man's body with a gunshot wound. police say the victim's 22-year-old son daron clanton was arrested. he faces an open murder charge. henderson police say they have never been called to the home for any domestic violence issues in the past. in just a few hours, president obama will deliver his final state of the union address the president took time to spell out what he's working on as he crafts his final draft. since i took office seven years ago, in the midst of crisis, i don't think i've ever been as optimistic about a year ahead as i am right now. political experts do not believe that he will endorse a specific candidate in the 20-16 race. but instead... the white house says the president will

and international priorities...like gun control, closing the guantanamo bay military prison, and his plans for combating isis. sad news out of ohio, a family of 4 was killed after a home explosion last night. neighbors say they heard a loud blast and then saw flames. when firefighters arrived at the home, they found the bodies of the mother and 2 daughters on the first floor. the father's body was found near the back of the house. no word on what caused the home to burst into flames but officials suspect it was gas. a deadly bomb blast at a popular tourist attraction in turkey this morning. reports say an explosion claimed the lives of at least 10 people, and injured 15 others at the sultan-ahmet square in istanbul. turkish security forces are working to clear the popular tourist area. officials say a syria-linked suicide bomber is believed to be behind the attack. the runnin' rebels take on new mexico tonight for their first game since head coach dave rice was forced out.

a district court judge is putting a hold on funding for parents who want to send their kids to private schools the decision, challenging a by lawmakers last spring fox5's shannon moore is live at green valley more on the next for nevada families nevada families were given the green light to apply for up to pay for things like tutoring and they were told money this february... but a district judge is saying -- not so fast yesterday's ruling based on 2 lawsuits currently challenging the account program"

says the program violates the constition by using public tax dollars for students to attend private schools. which is accurate, though state officials say that money can be used on several things, not just private school. things like homeschooling or tutoring, supplies and even transportation to and from school. at least 45 hundred families have already applied for the funding -- some even pulled their kids out of public and enrolled them in private, to meet requirements that the kids must be in the classroom for at least 100 days before recieving the money. the governor's office saying their goal was to simply expand education options, specifically to many low-income families. the state's treasurer's office weighing on the decision saying they're disapointed with the judge's opinion a ruling is expected soion at least one of those pending laswsuits now state officials say they'll update the families as soon as they get more info. they plan to work with the attorney general's office to come up with a

believe it navy veteran maurice walker died early saturday morning after losing control of his motorcycle. he was making a turn on dean martin and flamingo when he slid into a light pole. ashley walker says when maurice didn't come home, she began calling hospitals in the middle of the night. that's when she found her husband at u-m-c and doctors told her that he didnt make it. we always talked always talked and thats whats so hard maurice leaves behind his pregnant wife and their 6- month-old daughter. he was one of 8 people killed on valley roads in a 48 hour span last weekend.... local law enforcement is pleading with drivers to slow down. the police chief in boulder city is out of a job this morning. chief bill conger has resigned. this after backlash from the

" the public wants transparency in the case and we want a full fair thorough investigation so if that was being hindered in any way by the police chief him stepping down helps that case." conger, who was acting as a sort of interim police chief, came under fire recently after it was made public that he dropped a criminal case against mary jo frazier, the former animal control supervisor accused of needlessly killing animals " it was not bill conger's place to make the sole decision on wether to pursue the case or not, this is something that shouldve been turned over to the district attorney and have them

the investigation is now in the hands of the district attorney, but for many, conger dropping the case was a clear violation of the peoples trust... retired chief of police thomas finn even called it one of the most disturbing things he had ever seen... he said during his time in office he had... "... never ordered a case be closed out of fear of who might get muddied, and unlike william conger, he has never practiced policing by appeasment." thomas w. finn, chief of police (ret.) boulder city police department boulder city says they never got a letter of resignation from conger, and theyre not giving any details about the investigation...but many who call boulder city home think they deserve to know whats going on... theyre to the story theyre still not being told... they'd start receiving money this february -- for things like tuition and books. that was until a district judge decided yesterday to grant whats called a "preliminary injuction" and put a hold on the funding. the judge says a ruling needs to come first in the 2 lawsuits that are currently challenging the "education savings account program" which nevada lawmakers passed in june it would allow parents to claim more than 5,000 dollars per student each year for education purposes, inclduing homeschooling and private school funding those filing complaints, including the a-c- l-u say the program violates the separation between church and state - because parents could use public money for private schools.. they're also worried about funds being drained from public schools. governor sandoval and the office responding to the ruling saying their goal was to simply

for parents who want to send their kids to private schools the decision, challenging a program passed by lawmakers last spring. fox5's shannon moore reports on the ruling and whats next for nevada families nevada families were given the green light to apply for up to 5,000 dollars to pay for things like tutoring and tuition. they were told they'd get that money this february... but a district judge is saying -- not so fast yesterday's ruling based on 2 lawsuits currently challenging the "education savings account program" the first filed by the a-c-l-u who says the program violates the constition by using public tax dollars for students to attend private schools. which is accurate, though state officials say that money can be used on several things, not just private school. things like homeschooling or tutoring, supplies and even transportation to and from school. at least 45 hundred families have already applied for the funding -- some even pulled their kids out of public

man is on the run after attempting to rob a store with a knife, but what he wasn't expecting was the clerk to fight back. surveillance video shows the suspect jumping onto the counter and swinging a knife. the clerk says he but before handing over the cash, the his own knife and began to fight back. and his blade was much bigger! at one point the suspect lost his weapon... and began knocking over store items and even threw a can of corn at the clerk. the man made off with about 200 dollars in cash, the clerk did have several cuts but he was not seriously injured. switching gears...
