5:33 am
donald trump is supposed to be right there in the middle of it. will he show up? right now, he says no. trump says "..i think we'll do something simultaneously with the debate, but most likely, i'm not going to do the debate." and, a trump spokesman would later drive the point home. he is out -- at least as it stands at the moment -- upset over a fox news press release that poked fun at him and, the inclusion of fox's megyn kelley as one of the moderators. the two had tangled at an earlier g-o-p debate. trump has flirted with skipping debates before, but, this comes just days before next week's iowa caucuses -- and, he is neck and neck in most polls with senator ted cruz, who was quick to mock trump. cruz says "..if she asks him mean questions, i mean his hair might stand on end." and while cruz says iowa is not a must-win for his campaign, he did tell a gathering of religious leaders that trump could win the nomination if he takes the first two states. cruz says "..if donald wins iowa, he right now has a substantial lead in new hampshire, if he went on to win new hampshire as well, there is a very good chance he could be unstoppable and be our nominee." and, the big question now?
5:34 am
come to that -- hurt or help trump? krauthammer says "..but, i think as of now, i think he's doing what he wants which is to make him the center of all attention all the time." and look, this could have an impact on the ratings of this debate as well because donald trump has been a big driver behind some of those ratings. on the other hand, there may be a lot of people watching to see if trump decides to show up at the last minute. in washington, doug luzader, fox news.>> jeb bush was back in nevada trying to revive his fading presidential hopes. bush held a campaign rally in elko... that's fertile ground for the republicans and bush needs every vote he can get... the rally was held at the northeastern nevada museum. bernie sanders is closing in on hillary clinton in the iowa polls.
