killed one of the protesters who seized a federal wildlife refuge in oregon. we want to warn you... this video from the violent confrontation tuesday night is very disturbing. this video was shot from a helicopter. protest leader ammon bundy and his armed followers took over a refuge in an attempt to protest what they call "government overreach" on federal land. protester lavoy finicum was killed when gunfire broke out during this traffic stop. finicum jumps out of the truck you see here...waving his arms in the air. a law enforcement official says officers opened fire after finicum reached toward his waistband...where he had a loaded gun. greg bretzing/special agent in charge of the fbi in oregon: it was a reckless action that resulted in the

you've seen. finicum died on the scene. bundy and 7 other protesters were arrested. the group is due to appear in a federal court today. a teacher at a jail in orange county has been arrested and suspected of helping 3 inmates escape. authorities say she may have had more than a teacher student relationship with one of the men. she's accused of giving the escaped inmates tools that allowed them to cut through half- inch steel bars. police say the men maybe living in a van that was stolen in los angeles last week. growing fears virus... officials say the mosquito born explosively" and answers quickly. spread to 23 countries and territories with 31 documented cases in 11 in the country. the good news is a company called announced plans genetically

mosquitoes in brazil that could help reduce the populations of mosquitos carrying the virus. the southern nevada health district says the most common symptoms of the virus are fever, rash, joint pain and red eyes. there are no confirmed cases of the virus here in southern nevada. republican frontrunner donald trump kept his word and did not show up at the gop debate last night. but somehow, he was still part of the discussion. fox news doug luzader has look at the highlights. you really needed to split your screen to take this all in last night. most of the republican contenders on a debate stage in iowa while frontrunner donald trump boycotted it, appearing at the same time at an event for veterans just a few miles away. but, make no mistake. trump had a presence at the debate. cruz says "..let me say, i'm a maniac and everyone on this stage is stupid, fat, and ugly. and ben, you're a terrible surgeon. (nats-laughter) rubio says "..well, but you changed the -- in the book..." bush says "..yeah. so did you, marco." and, democrat hillary clinton took some jabs from this stage, too. christie says "..the days for the clintons in public housing are over." and then there was trump, holding his own event after a falling out with fox. and, somewhat awkwardly standing alongside two other republican candidates, rick santorum and mike huckabee, who had appeared at the earlier undercard debate. trump says "..you have to stick up to your rights when you are treated badly." there's been a lot of talk about the possibility of an nhl team coming to the valley. but what about the

raiders are meeting with sands corporation management today, to discuss a potential stadium and move to las vegas. fox5's nick lagrange joins us live from koval and tropicana with details of the potential move. nick? jason and monica -- this is very exciting news, if your a local sports fan. word emerged thursday that unlv may team up with casino owner sheldon adelson to try to bring the nfl to las vegas. and we know adelson is meeting with raiders owner mark davis here today, to discuss the potential stadium and move to our city. earlier this month, unlv earlier this month, unlv closed a deal to expand the campus by 42 acres. the $50 million deal was approved by the board of the nevada systems of higher

december. on thursday, unlv provided fox5 an email from president len jessup that states he has been made aware that the adelson-owned las vegas sands plans to announce its support for a new special events stadium to be located on the 42 acres of land, which is situated near tropicana avenue and koval lane. unlv was asked to meet with raiders officials at the 42-acre site. a sands spokesperson confirmed to fox5 that plans for a $1 billion domed stadium are moving forward, with or without a team. the stadium would contain at least 60,000 seats. the spokesperson further said the deal would involve a public- private partnership and that developers may request that funds from hotel room taxes be diverted to the project. the nfl recently rejected a bid to move the raiders to los angeles. the team is currently without a lease in oakland and is said to be considering several cities for relocation, including san antonio. no timeline for
