gusts to 30 miles per hour here in las vegas. winds will calm down over night but return on sunday with potential to produce up to a rain through monday. in this rather powerful storm, monday's gusts are expected to reach into the 40's with winds sustained at 30 mph. significant dive tuesday will be things calm down we'll rebound 50's by the end of next week. we start with breaking news this morning. a woman is dead after being shot. metro police responded to a call about a woman yelling for help after two- thirty this morning. upon arrival - they located a woman with a gun shot wound.

u-m-c where she died from her injuries. police are looking for a suspect. the shooting is still under investigation. three people are recovering this morning after being shot near civic center and cheyenne. officers responded to a call friday where two men and a woman were injured after being shot. all were taken to u-m-c... and are expected to survive. the gunman however is on the run. police have not said if this was gang-related. " i talked to a couple neighbors and they're scared for their families. were all concerned about this area. its kind of scary in broad daylight." this shooting comes a day after another man was shot to death on the same block. there have been no arrests in that case. and police have not said if these two shootings are related. 3 police are investigating after a gruesome discovery. we have to warn you. the images are disturbing officers were called to a strip mall on sahara and lamb on friday afternoon. that's where they found a sacrifice scene. a dead chicken

describing it as animal control to assist. robbed at gun point for their school ipads. and now the may have to pay for them. fox 5s cyndi reaction from concerned parents. backpacks paper etc hernandez didn't go sawyer middle school friday scared of what might happen... erica- i was scared i might die lorraine- it really changed everything it really did just after 7am wednesday... the sixth and seventh grader were stopped on la palma avenue by two men... cyndi- erica and nathan were walking along this street when they noticed they were being followed once they rounded this corner they tell me the suspects got in front of them and demanded they empty their backpacks erica- first i thought they were messing but then they pulled out the gun and i thought they were going to shoot me and my brother once the suspects were out of sight... the middle schoolers ran home. erica- one was white one was african american and they were wearing hoodies and jeans and one

on i dont know what the other one had on because i was focused on the gun being pointed at us erica and nathans mom is terrified. in 2013 a student was killed over his ipad in las vegas...she says that could have been her kids. she says grant sawyer shouldn't be sending students to and from school with expensive devices that make them an easy target for criminals. lorraine cump: i felt my kids were violated like how dare you do this to two 12 year olds and pull out a gun thats the most i just cant believe someone would do that to kids but that theyre young they dont need that lorraine cumplido says her kids need their ipads to complete their homework... and says the school asked her to pay 150 dollars per ipad to replace them. lorraine cumplido- hopefully it will be retrieved if not i have to get them another one out of pocket which i dont have the money to get them another one c-c-s-d says the family only has to pay if they want new ipads right now.... and adds they hope these

cumplido says her kids need their ipads to complete their schoolwork so it puts them in a difficult situation. lorraine - keep them there they took away their lockers so now they have to bring them home i think they should school so they arent walking abck and forth with these devices the c-c-s-d says even if lorraine cumplido pays the 150-dollars... the school distict coughs up a thousand dollars per lossed ipad. we asked c-c-s-d if the stolen ipads had apps that could trace the they were unsure. a white van is at search for escaped california inmates. of the three inmates -- is back in custody after surrendering to but officials two fugitives are still in california. mary moloney has more on the manhunt. follows-- still on the run -- possibly in this white van -- stolen a day after the

(lt. jeff hallock/orange county sheriff's department): "i can't reiterate enough the importance of the white van. we believe that mr. nayeri and mr. tieu are together in that white van." hossein nayeri is the suspected ringleader. nayeri -- attacked a man four years ago -- doused him with fire -- cut off his genitals -- and dumped him in the desert. while in jail -- police say nayeri had an inappropriate teacher ravaghi. source says the pair exchanged flirtatious letters -- which investigators found ravaghi taught english as second language at the jail. investigators say nayeri attended her classes. but investigators think the two iranian natives bonded over their first language -- farsi. (lt. jeff hallock/orange county sheriff's department): "nyeri speaks english, why he was attending that class, and again that connection, whether it's from iran we're not exactly sure. that's very much a concern for us." investigators say ravaghi admitted to giving the inmates a map of the maximum security jail -- but denies giving them the tools to break out.

inmates cut through half-inch steel bars - snaked their way through plumbing tunnels and made it to the roof of the jail. then investigators say the inmates cut through barbed wire fencing -- tied bed sheets together -- repelled 50 feet down a wall -- and disappeared. (lt. jeff hallock/orange county sheriff's department): "we are coming after you, we are pressing forward and we will take you back into custody." i'm mary moloney reporting. there is a 200 thousand dollar reward for information leading to the inmates capture. the state department says it will not be releasing 22 emails from former secretary of state hillary clinon-- because they contain 'top secret' information. the emails were not marked classified at the time they were sent to clinton. but are now being upgraded as such--because of the sensitive information they carry. 18-emails between clinton and president obama will also be withheld from the public. "secretary clinton and the president did, on occasion, exchange emails. as they have also said previously, such presidential records shall remain confidential to protect the president's ability to receive unvarnished advice and counsel. to be

between then- secretary clinton and president obama have not been determined to be classified." clinton has been under fire for some time for using a private email server while serving as secretary of state. and now republican presidential candidate marko rubio is speaking out about it. (senator marco rubio) "well i haven't seen that report so i wouldn't want to comment on it, but what we know already is that there was highly classified information on her server. what i know for a fact, is that if a member of my staff on the intelligence committee had done that they would have been fired and probably would have been prosecuted. an fbi investigation clinton's emails is still underway. and thousands of emails have already been released to the public. help is on the way for people in flint, michigan. on friday, governor rick snyder signed a bill which will provide 28- million-dollars in emergency money to help the area deal with the toxic water crisis . the money will help repair damaged pipes-- and to provide medical aid for those who drank the water and are feeling it's effects. last week -

announced 80- million-dollars in new funding to help michigan improve its water infrastructure. to more local news now. the t-mobile arena on the strip is one step closer to completion. the first seat was installed inside the stadium on friday. its one of more to fill the arena in the next 6 weeks. every seat is mounted on a rail instead of concrete... and can be taken out in under a minute. crews can slide them left to right to change the spacing... or make a quick swap if one breaks or needs to be removed. "we want seats to be comfortable. big part of venue is guest experience. and whats bigger part when watching show than comfort of seats. it was factor we were cognitive and important to us of along with other operational factors..." the highly- anticipated venue is set to open april sixth. it's already booked with some big shows. opening night is hometown band "the killers" and wayne newton. locals hope the arena will also attract an n-h-l team.

virus cases is slowly inching upward in the u.s. and the world health organization has called an emergency meeting to address mounting concerns over world wide spread. reid binion reports on what we know so far. "i walked back out on the ice with my tree branch and began hitting the edge of where the water was to the ice, hoping that i would see some sort of sign of life." than 800 thousand altimas.. for a third time due to a hood latch issue. the recall includes 2013, 14 and 15 models. nissan says paint can flake off the latch exposing bare metal. over time if the latches rust, it may cause the secondary hood latch to remain open. causing the hood to fly open while the cars are in motion. at a gas pump. you stop pumping, keeps running... racking up dollar by dollar of gas you're not getting. that's what happened to one fox-five viewer at a local gas station. fox five's christine ddela tells us what happened when we called the state to take action. the numbers kept going without squeezing the pump carlos abedoy drove up to the rebel gas station on mojave and bonanza... just like any other day. nats- cars but when he was done pumping gas,

done pumping money out of his pocket. right before i put the nozzle into the machine, i looked at the numbers, they were still going. i thought to myself, this has to be recorded "it's going, it's not pumping gas, but it's still going" after recording that video proof, he went in to talk to the cashier. i did not get my money back bc the manager wasn't there fox5 reached out to the department of agriculture. if you think gas pump is faulty, call us and report it. we can send an inspector out immediately. we take things very seriously rebecca allured (allard) told us her department has stickers posted at every gas station, with a number to report faulty pumps. odds are the gas station didn't even know there was an error in their equipment what happened here is called "pump creep". this particular error was a mechanical error take a look at this pump at the station- now covered and out of service.

want to make sure people in the valley vote on caucus day. they're planning to set up six sites on the strip to accomodate voters who have to work. the democratic caucus is on saturday, february 20th--- starting at 11 a-m. the voting sites will be set up at the new york-new york, caesars palace, rio, harrah's, paris and wynn. it's part of an effort to get more voters to the polls. the state party also has facebook ads that raise the prospect of a donald trump presidency to get more democrats to vote this year. the republican caucus will take place on february 23rd. and as the race for the white house heats up... candidates are sprinting across iowa making their final pitch to voters. but as victor blackwell reports--time is running out. --reporter pkg-as follows--

gun from entering the bank. the man walks up to the front of the bank wearing a mask. the manager quickly notices him and pulls the door shut. the man then tries to scare the manager by banging on the door with the gun... but he doesn't give in...standing in front of the door and holding it shut. the masked man eventually gives up and runs away. a florida man is lucky to be alive this morning after his breaks malfunction and his truck bursts into flames. the driver--an 18 year navy veteran says he was on his way to the gas station on friday-- when he tried to stop his car-- and realized something was terribly wrong. mith says: "i put my foot on the brake and nothing. foot pedal to the floor, nothing... . i mean, just fear, i just got scared. i don't know. didn't know what to do." that's when he says he lost control coming around a turn and crashed. as his car burst into flames he said he had one thing on his mind. smith says: "just get out. i undid my seatbelt. the passenger window was gone. so i just

(nat tire pop) "i'm just glad i didn't hit anybody. i'm glad i'm ok and i didn't hurt anybody else." smith tells us he didn't even have to call 9-1-1 after the crash..because a highway patrol trooper was sitting in a parking lot yards away. a group of strangers work together to help a truck driver out of his overturned semi. icy roads caused the driver to crash his big rig near pittsburgh. motorists stopped when they saw the truck smoking... that's when 8 of them formed a human chain to get down an icy bank and pull the driver up. luckily the truck driver suffered only minor injuries. the owner of the corperation-- is making a push to bring the n-f-l to fox5's les krifaton has more on his plans.. as well as reaction from football fans. could one day be full fledged state plus seat

venue for the nfl, if only it weren't in las vegas. unless the nfl drastically changes the way that they look at las vegas there is zero chance that the nfl would make a home in this city. former fox5 sportscaster jon castagnino says when it comes to las vegas the nfl shows us no love the nfl has stepped kind of stop what las vegas is doing right. we're not allowed advertise any casinos during the super bowl, they even stepped in to cancel tony event within the last 12 months or so. i mean the nfl is anti las vegas that being said if there is anybody that could change that stance you'd have to think it would be sheldon adelson. according to forbes magazine he is the 15th richest man in the world worth more than 26 billion dollars and with that label and money he has a lot of clout. andelson is going to need to work the nfl very hard. he's a powerful guy he's got a lot of money but the nfl is a little bit bigger than sheldon adelson. on the street we got mixed reaction

possibility that the oakland raiders could one day become the las vegas raiders it's a good opportunity not only for fans but form all the tourists who have an opportunity to come over here and try to do something different. i think it's seems like a pretty cool idea for the raiders to come to las vegas i feel the raiders should be in oakland for me, that's just tradition. and maybe that is the opinion of the nfl too...maybe just maybe the nfl is sitting back letting this buzz about las vegas happen to put pressure on the city of oakland to build a new stadium for the raiders. we've been used time and time again as leverage for other professional sports teams to get a new stadium in their markets. so the nfl might be lying back right now and they might like hearing all this national buzz about las vegas and the raiders lk f5n llv a hilarious mistake on the field in santa clara... in preparation for super bowl 50. the crew responsible for painting the end zones at levi's stadium...

fox5 reached out to the department of agriculture. if you think gas pump is faulty, call us and report it. we can send an inspector out immediately. we take things very seriously rebecca allured (allard) told us her department has stickers posted at every gas station, with a number to report faulty pumps. odds are the gas station didn't even know there was an error in their equipment what happened here is called "pump creep". this particular error was a mechanical error take a look at this pump at the station- now covered and out of service. the department of agriculture sent out a technician to inspect the pump. we're glad to know, so it's tagged and fixed before anyone else uses it again it will be re- calibrated. as for carlos... i don't think i would want to go back to that station christine maddela, fox 5 news, local.

when it comes to las vegas the nfl shows us no love the nfl has stepped in multiple times to kind of stop what las vegas is doing right. we're not allowed advertise any casinos during the super bowl, they even stepped in to cancel tony romo's fantasy event within the last 12 months or so. i mean the nfl is anti las vegas that being said if there is anybody that could change that stance you'd have to think it would be sheldon adelson. according to forbes magazine he is the 15th richest man in the world worth more than 26 billion dollars and with that label and money he has a lot of clout. andelson is going to need to work the nfl very hard. he's a powerful guy he's got a lot of money but the nfl is a little bit bigger than sheldon adelson. on the street we got mixed reaction to the remote possibility that the could one day become the las vegas raiders it's a good opportunity not form all the tourists who have an opportunity to come over here and try to do something different.

when a cold pacific storm rolls through the region sunday. forecasters say strong winds could create near whiteout conditions. clear skies are predicted to return by tuesday. now fox weather 24/7 with ophelia young though saturday's high will reach 70 degrees, increasing clouds and high winds will accompany that unseasonable temperature with gusts to 30 miles per hour here in las vegas. winds will calm down over night but return on sunday with rainclouds with the potential to produce up to a third of an inch of rain through monday. in this rather powerful storm, monday's gusts are expected to reach into the 40's with winds sustained at 30 mph. temperatures take a significant dive into the upper 40's. tuesday will be windy as well but as things calm down on wednesday - we'll rebound slowly into the mid 50's by the end of next week.

turns into an unexpected birthday surprise for one new driver in iowa. hanna burgess was driving with her dad when she was pulled over. the officer said he was going to ticket her.. then handed her a ticket to a justin bieber concert! the not-so- routine traffic stop was set up by hanna's dad who likely got a good laugh. hanna however is still a little traumatized...
