charleston and fremont street. fox5's shannon moore is live, at the scene. shannon what do we know so far? a male victim was shot dead. at least 12 shots fired. two black men were seen running from scene. 1 ford explorer was seen driving away. police do not have a motive at this time. the victim is a hispanic male about 50 years old. no one is in custody the victim called 911 around 2:40. but did not identify shooter. the victim called 911 around 2:40. but did not

but did not identify shooter. a family is dealing with the loss of a man who was shot and killed in front of his 4-year old daughter. a candle light vigil was held last night for johnny haney. haney was killed while he was handing his 4- year-old daughter over to her mother -- krystal guice. it happened on monday near green valley parkway and sunset. police say he was face and in the boyfriend...deonte the 2 are now the victim's family stays for a long time. thats what they get, and shes stupid because now her kids aint gonna have no parents."

detectives " tae shot my dad and killed him." " i hurt for her, i hurt for her, because she knew her daddy, she loved her daddy... a four year old that knows her daddy that well... she's never gonna be right." the 4-year old is now with child protective services. police are trying to find the suspects who broke into a home in the middle of the day. metro says back on january 14th, this man stole items from a house near north grand canyon drive and lone mountain road. police say the same man was seen several days before the burglary in this white s-u-v--- following mail carriers in the area. they are also looking for the woman who was driving the s-u-v. metro says the car is a mid 2000's lexus crossover s-u-v, and it was stolen from its owner. if you have any information on this suspect... you are asked to call crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55. it was a call center crisis last night, as metro's dispatch center was down for over 6-hours.

problem has been corrected, but many are wondering how it happened in the first place. fox five's nick lagrange joins us live from metro headquarters on m-l-k with a recap of what happened, and who was left without the help they needed. nick? the call center system went down at about 3:30, tuesday afternoon. both metro's 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 lines were out of service, until just before ten o'clock tuesday afternoon. it's especially puzzling, since a preventative measure -- in the form of a 600- thosuand-dollar project -- was taken just last year to make sure this didn't happen. metro says its calls were re- routed to the henderson and north las vegas police departments, during the outage. metro says those calling 9-1-1 were experiencing long wait time and those calling 3-1-1 were getting busy signals. metro gets about 3,000 calls each day. and officers were adamant that those needing help would get it. however, one man -- juan juarez -- couldn't get through to dispatchers when he needed them most. juarez' home caught on fire near charleston and lamb during

"me and several neighbors tried to call 911. however, the system was down or they were not picking up. i could only hear beeping sounds." "the fire escalated within 2 or 3 minutes." "i mean, we tried several times and we couldn't get to them. our best interest was to protect the house and keep it from, the fire going further. i mean, i don't know what to say. that was inappropriate. that's an emergency service that we should all have available at all times." thankfully, no humans were hurt in that fire... ...though juarez says one of his dogs was killed. metro has apologized profusely for the outage. they say they are very sorry to anyone in our community who were affected by this problem. the same thing happened last june, prompting the expensive update to the system. but it seems they may have to go back to the drawing board to diagnose and fix this problem once again. more top stories

officials in somalia are looking into what caused an explosion on a plane while 14 thousand feet in the air. so far there's been no evidence of a criminal act. the plane was forced to make an emergency landing yesterday after the explosion tore a hole in the side of it. two people were injured but the pilot was able to land safely. the fbi is now investigating the contamination of flint's drinking water. a house committee is expected to hold a congessional hearing today. there have been massive protests and calls for michigan governor rick snyder to resign. he's been faced with many questions about when he first knew there was too much lead in the drinking water. but guess what??? snyder will not be in attendance today. the embattled governor is asking for 30- million dollars in state funding to help pay the water bills of flint residents. the affordable care act will stay in place...at least through the end of president obama's term. a bill failed in the house yesterday that would have repealed the main provisions of obamacare. the bill would

parkway may be getting a much needed makeover. clark county, unlv and the city of las vegas are teaming up with the national endowment for the arts to redevelop this area by the university. a meeting took place tuesday night to discuss revitalization plans on maryland parkway-- from the mccarran international airport to downtown las vegas. "what they did with the art district and stuff and its beautiful and im hoping that will come down here." "to see some of these shops reopening again and kind of get that hipster feeling back you know?" so far -- the redevelopment is in the beginning study stages. architects... artists... and real estate developers will meet over the next 6 months to ask the community

person contracted the virus by having sex with someone who was infected while that person was visitng venezuela. the virus has been linked to a birth defect that leads to babies being born with abnormally small heads. the world health organization estimates up to 4 million people across the americas will be infected with zika in the next year. actor and comedian bill cosby is back in court this morning for the second day of his pretrial hearing. a judge could decide today whether or not to dismiss a sexual assault case against cosby. the actor is charged with aggravated indecent assault against andrea constand in his pennsylvania home, back in 2004. cosby's attorney wants the judge to dismiss a criminal charge based on an agreement he says he made with the former district attorney. the district attorney testified yesterday that his decision was made because didn't believe he could win the case.

student charged as an accessory in the stabbing death of a 13-year-old girl is due in court today. authorities say natalie keepers helped dispose of nicole lovell's body and played a role in the killing. her classmate, david eisenhauer, is charged with the kidnapping and murder. a neighbor says the seventh- grader talked about sneaking out to see her 18- year-old boyfriend, whom she met online. officials in france are looking to extend the state of emergency. the french government is calling for a 3- month extension. the country has been under a state of emergency since november...after terrorist attacks killed 130 people. the state of emergency has already been extended once and was scheduled to end on february 26. president francois hollande said a three-month extension was justified by the need to face the "terrorist threat." mgm resorts announces it will be contracting out parking operations to a chicago based company. current valet employees will

situation caught on camera... where a driver is seen pointing a gun at a biker after he knocked on his window. now the driver is sharing his side of the story with fox5... and says there's a lot more to this video. i felt surrounded and threatened, it was an issue. the driver of this red truck told us anonymously that nearly a dozen motorcyclists were riding around him on boulder highway. you see the second three minutes of it, there's about 3 or 4 minutes of what they didn't show you of all the motorcycles being erratic and causing issues in traffic. one of our guys went off the dirt the rider who filmed the incident and also wants to remain anonymous said it began with a another rider and a nats of riders/blue suv hand signals, and forth with that the video which didn't involve the red truck until- one of them leaned against my truck on when he left he nudged the truck with his foot peg or know it moved the truck a little bit,
