desk breaking overnight... a man was killed in a collision while walking in a crosswalk.... fox5's alyssa deitsch joins us live near nellis and boulder highway with what happened... alyssa this marks the 63rd fatal collision this year.... and the second in two days. and despite this happening at a crosswalk... witnesses tell

pedestrian killed crossed when he wasn't supposed to. we spoke with metro police on scene overnight... who tell us the pedestrian was killed right here.. when a driver hit him at this crosswalk around 11. the driver stayed on scene... and showed no signs of impairment... and police don't believe the driver was speeding. witnesses told police the light was green for the car.... and the driver's story matched that. "the pedestrian was crossing against the signal, he stepped in front of vehicle. the driver told investigators he didn't see him until the very last minute when he applied his brakes. at that point it was too late." the pedestrian has not yet been identified. we only know he is male. we are hovering around the same number of fatal collisions in las vegas as last year. this time last year we were at 65. and sgt strader says, historically... as the weather cools over the next couple

more deadly... as we share the road with more pedestirants, cyclists, and bikers. the nra is hoping to take back the silver state. a group called "nra nevadans for freedom" opened an office in las vegas tuesday night. with thousands of volunteers across the state. their goal is to defeat question one on the november ballot. which calls for all gun sales to go through a licensed dealer ensuring a background check will be done. ryan hamilton deputy campaign manager nra - nevadans for freedom- the nra had endorsed donald trump because we know that hillary clinton is hositle to the second amendment and does not believe people should own a firearm the nra also recently released an ad airing in nevada..

clinton's stance on guns the ad cost three million dollars.. and is the most expensive pro trump ad to date. also on the november ballot -- marijuana.. voters will be asked about the legalization of recreational marijuana.. new data suggests the measure stands a good chance at passing. as more americans are apparently smoking pot. fox 5's mike doria joins us with the findings. gallup has conducted this survey the past three years and the number of people smoking pot has nearly doubled. now -- one in 8 americans admit to using it. think about it -- the next time you're in a meeting at the office -- someone around the table in the conference room probably smokes pot. when gallup first conducted this poll in 2013, only seven percent admitted to smoking marijuana. in 2015, it jumped to 11 percent. now in 2016 it's 13

equivalent of more than 33 million americans. if the vote is yes in november then recreational marijuana use would become legal for people 21 and over. but they would only be allowed to buy one ounce or less at a time. the tax dollars collected from the marijuana sales would go toward schools helping grades k- 12 make their budgets. but pot use would not be allowed near schools, day cares or churches.

a former sanitation worker known as the 'grim sleeper' is sentenced to death in a los angeles courtroom. lonnie david franklin junior was dubbed the 'grim sleeper' because of a 13- year gap in the killings he's been found guilty of. earlier this year, franklin was convicted of murdering nine women and a teenage girl... over a period of more than two decades. police in canada say they've killed a terror suspect who was planning a suicide bombing in a public area. the suspect has

a california mother is thanking blood donors for saving her young child's life. the two year old was diagnosed with a rare disease that compromised her immune system at just nine months old. as a result she had to undergo more than 30 blood transfusions. and 16 rounds of chemotherapy.

" eugene tshiyombo apologized in court on wednesday. in december-- police say tshiyombo got into an argument with his father and shot him. he will be eligible for parole in ten years. police are looking for a man they say has been breaking into slot machines at valley convenience stores. police say the suspect has hit at least eight machines since may-- at stores in the northwest valley and in north las vegas. they say he prys the front panel off the machine with a crow bar and takes the cash box. he is described as six feet tall-- and in each burglary-- he wears a mask. if you have any information... you asked to call crimestoppers at 702-385-55-55. olymic betting is legal in the state of nevada...for the

that would larger than the population of the state of texas and slightly smaller than california's. president obama's daughter malia may end up being among this percentage...this video of her appearing to be smoking pot at a festival is now all over the internet. the number of people admitting to smoking pot could grow even bigger in november. five more states including nevada have a ballot question asking whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use. when gallup co poll in 2013 -- only seven percent of the country admited to smoking pot. it jumped to 11 percent in 2015 and now 13 percent in 2016. according to poll researchers -- the willingness of states to consider making pot legal could explain the increase in people to admiting to using it. if voted "yes" in november -- pot would be legal to use recreationally for anyone 21 and over. they would only be able to buy and ounce or less at a time. the tax money on it would help

with a garden hose to scare it off. the pilot fire in san bernardino california continues to threaten more than 5-thousand homes. nearly two thousand firefighters are working around the clock to contain the blaze. which has now burned through nearly eight thousand acres. fire officials say high winds are fanning the flames and making it harder to get it under control. as of this morning, it is about sixty percent contained.. we now know what sparked a another deadly fire in califo than 76-thousand acres last year. "7-19 the investigation uncovered evidence that a residential electrical connection arced and ignited surrounding dry grass behind a home located on high valley road." " police say it was a faulty hot tub wire that started the fire-- four people were killed. it was the third most destructive wildfire in the

its doors... after losing its licence. it comes after a report from the nevada department of public and behavioral health -- stating that a 20 month old was left outside for two hours in triple digit temperatures... when the workers found the child.... he was unresponsive and had burns on his feet. they waited 16 minutes to call 911, and almost 45 minutes to call the child's parents the start of the school year is less than three weeks away.. and teachers are scrambling to get ready. 15 lucky valley teachers were treated to special shopping spree. 13 percent of americans admit to using marijuana regularly in this latest poll. that's more than 33 million people and that would larger than the population of the state of texas and slightly smaller than california's. president obama's daughter malia may end up being among this percentage...this video of her appearing to be smoking pot at a festival is now all over the internet. the number of people admitting to smoking pot could grow even bigger in november. five more states including nevada have question asking whether to legalize marijuana for recreational use. when gallup conducted this poll in 2013 -- only seven percent of the country admited to smoking pot. it jumped to 11 percent in 2015 and now 13 percent in 2016. according to poll researchers -- the willingness of states to consider making pot legal could explain the increase in people to admiting to using it. if voted "yes" in november -- pot would be legal to use recreationally for anyone 21 and over. they would
