construciton areas to look out for and alternate routes listed on our maps back to the news desk police have made an arrest in connection with a deadly stabbing that happened over the weekend. this is juan rubio. he is now facing a murder charge in the death of michael omalia. police say on sunday-- the two were arguing... and then omalia was stabbed... he was taken to u-m-c where he later died. a toddler is recovering after a near drowning.

around at a home near rainbow and twain. neighbors say they heard yelling coming from the house.. later police told them. the little boy's aunt tells us he is almost two years old and he is doing better. he should come home today. experts say this should serve as reminder to never take your eye off of kids.... that a drowning can happen in just a matter of minutes. "in a near drowning the child's can have deficits for the rest of their life so sometimes those near drownings can be just as devastating as an actual fat hospital staff says they have seen a rise in the number of drownings and near drownings compared to last year. two full days after our first round of storms hit the valley .. people living in an extended stay hotel near nellis air force base were still dealing with flooding. you can see the parking lot of the nellis suites were still covered last night. people have been having trouble getting to their cars and to and from their rooms.

"they weren't letting people in or out, so it was like being trapped in the apartment complex, it was crazy." no word if the flooding has gone down more.. or if the owners of the property are going to do anything to allow the water to drain the next time it rains that much. in national news.. three young children kidnapped after their mother was killed... have been found in new mexico... but the suspects are still on the run. police say 27- year-old joshua aaron robertson and 22-year-old brittany humphrey-- dumped the kids with a good samaritan who called police. humphrey is the is the half sister of the kids' dead mother-- kimberley harvill. her body was found in a remote area in los angeles county-- more than a week ago. investigators say harvill and her three children were last seen traveling with the couple. 12 people are dead

injured ---after an attack on the american university in afghanistan. gun shots and explosions could be heard at the campus... where several american professors and dozens of students took cover in classrooms and safe rooms while police and special forces surrounded it.. initial reports say-- there attack was carried out by several gunmen the attack comes just weeks after two of its professors were kidnapped at gunpoint on august seventh. men in military uniforms abducted them while traveled between campus and their home in kabul...the professors' whereabouts are unclear. a recently diagnosed cancer patient has been reunited with her stolen truck, that was taken from right in front of her valley home tuesday. fox5's eric hilt explains how a viewer helped make sure the truck was returned. in just 24 hours, grief... "now everything is just shattered" ...turned into gratefulness... "there is hope, im happy, im happy"

cancer had her stolen truck returned. "thanks for all your prayers, and thanks for coming together as a community, you just made my life a little better" doctors recently diagnosed carolyn with stage 4 breast cancer...she used the truck to get to and from chemotherapy. "it wasnt just a truck it was more than a truck" this morning a gas station at nellis and twain called a tow company to take an abandoned car to impound, but the tow truck's driver our story -- and called police. "i was looking at facebook this morning and somebody had said the truck was found overnight...i wasn't sure how to react but it was true!" metro police says this truck is one of more than 62- hundred cars stolen in the valley so far this year, and many of those cars have been found. "if you're car is stolen there is a liklihood that it will be recovered after a little while, but what condition is unknown." the condition of carolyn's truck --

in the air... after a warehouse near the las vegas strip... catches fire. good morning... i'm dave hall. i'm maria silva. the worst part... the warehouse was packed with school supplies for a local autism foundation. we go right to fox5's alyssa deitsch live from the scene of the massive fire... on polaris and harmon... and alyssa these supplies were supposed to be donated this week? yeah, families were supposed to come here to the people's autism foundation within the next couple of days to pick up the school supplies. here's a look at that fire overnight, which you could see burning from our strat cam. one woman who works for the people's autism foundation told me they've been collecting backpacks and school supplies for children with specials needs and their siblings for
