leaders. fox 5's kevin bolinger joins us live from the newsroom with more on the surprise visit that everyone thought was cancelled. you might remeber just days ago - trump's campaign cancelled a scheduled public event here in las vegas for today....not giving any exclamation. well - it turns out trump came to town anyways but did not do any public events - instead meeting privately with several people. this afternoon at trump international hotel - the republican presidential nominee met with some of his loal hispanic supporters in a meeting room. cameras were only allowed in for a few minutes at the very beginning before being asked to leave the room. but in that time trump talked briefly about the gross domestic product - which is a monetary measure of goods and services produced that determines economic performance. here's a snippet of what he had to say. donald trump: the gdp was reduced last month to 1.1 percent when last month it was at 1.2. everybody thought
catastrophe and they brought it down. it's unheard of numbers, you just don't hear numbers like that. in china if they drop to 8 percent it's like a national catastrohphe and here we are at 1.1 percent. just announced. it's a very serious problem. the country has some very serious problems. it's gonna get worse with these people that don't know what they're doing. trump said his campiagn is doing far better with latinos that anyone understands - adding that people want to see more jobs and that what he plans on doing. a lot of times trips like these also bring private meaning with potential major donors ...somebody like a sheldon adelson....but there has been no confirmation if trump met with
fundraising dinner tonight. live in the newsroom, kb, ffnllv. donald trump's visit came on the same day hundreds of employees rallied outside the trump international hotel. the rally was loud and spirited, filled with handmade signs and banners for hillary clinton. the workers want donald trump to start contract negotations after they won an un many of the protestors wore bright green shirts for the iron workers union. ron milner came here from sacramento to represent iron workers international. he explained why making the trip for this rally was so important to him. they say they were very excited when they heard an nfl stadium could be going in across the street because it would mean big business. but not everybody shares that enthusiasm - especially because of the huge price tag for the county. this stadium would cost $750 million taxpayer dollars - that would come from a hike in the room tax - and it would be the most public money ever spent to build an nfl stadium... "there's a lot of emotion involved in this on both sides. my office gets a lot of calls, we've got some really rabid supporters of the raiders and building a stadium, we got folks who really really oppose putting a dime of public money in the stadium so there's two sides of the coin here" throughout this whole process the committee has said state lawmakers have
tax increase and whether this stadium will be built... this is one of two sites - the other being bali hai golf course and while nearby businesses are hoping a stadium is built, not everybody is for the idea. the next stadium committee meeting not everybody is for the idea. the next stadium committee meeting is on september 15 a bit of clouds were hovering over the valley today. so does that mean rain will be heading our way once again? let's check in with meteorlogist sam
