anything but ordinary... and with polls showing the two front-runners are the most disliked candidates in history... some voters have been eyeing third-party options. fox5's alyssa deitsch joins us live in studio with one major third- party candidate facing hurdles even getting on the ballot here in the silver state... alyssa? you may not be able to vote for who you really want in nevada. and what's going on with the green party right now is a perfect example so first off-- the green party is not automatically listed on the ballot here... because historically, they just don't have the number of registered greens. so that means-- as of now... you will not see jill stein as an option come novemeber. to get her on there, volunteers collected over 86-hundred signatures this year to petition to put the green party on the ballot... but nearly four- thousand of them were thrown out by the clark county registrar... making them about 600 signatures shy

ballot. they asked for those signatures to be double checked-- but that was denied... so now they're taking the issue to federal court. we spoke with the nevada green party co-chair, who says... if the court does not rule in their favor... you will not be able to vote for jill stein, not even as a write-in candidate... because nevada is one of seven states in the u-s that does not allow write-ins. if jill stein is not on the ballot you'll have 4 options in nevada. clinton, trump, johnson, and none of the above. the judge is expected to decide this week if the case will go to trial... or turn down the green party here and now. either way... the green party is planning a rally outside the federal courthouse this afternoon... ready to protest... or celebrate the judge's decision. in a move that's surprising many.

travel to mexico today to meet with mexican president enrique pena nieto. trump has been trying to clarify his position on illegal immigration. early in his campaign, trump made controversial comments about deporting people living in the u-s illegally and building a wall along the us/mexico border. trump is expected to deliver a highly-anticipated speech on immigration later today. the presidential election is still 68 days away...

in arizona... john mccain easily won his primary.... he is seeking his 6th term as arizona senator... mccain will face off against democratic representative ann kirkpatrick in the november 8th general election. in florida... marco rubio also won his state's republican primary. the first-term senator also easily won... now rubio will take on democratic representative patrick murphy for the senate seat in november. president obama will be in nevada today for the 20th summit. senator harry reid will host the president and other important guests and speakers at the event. they will be discussing the environment and ways to preserve it for future generations. this year's summit will feature a special performance by las vegas' own homegrown rock band "the killers." the summit starts at 2 p-m. a plane crash near reno will have the f-a-a and n-t-s-b investigating this morning. these images of the scene were taken by the reno-gazette

says the single- engine plane went down about a half a mile from the reno-tahoe international airport tuesday night. sparks police say the plane hit the ground nose first and burst into flames... damaging some of the trailers and vehicles nearby. luckily no one on the ground was hurt. we're still waiting for word on the condition of the pilot and any possible passengers. calling all veterans! southern nevada employers want you! the cosmopolitan is partnering with top employers in the valley today to get our vets back to work. the "supporting our veterans career fair" goes from 10 a-m to 1 this afternoon inside the castellana ballroom. veterans and military families will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with hiring managers to find the perfect job for them. today's career fair is open to all veterans, active military and military spouses. cities across america have buyer's remorse about these big fancy stadiums... but leaders of the project in las vegas say

shouldn't be worried. the new stadium is projected to cost 1.9 billion... 750-million of that would be collected from hotel room taxes. the raiders and nfl would kick in 500 million... at least 650- million dollars would come from sands corporation ceo sheldon adelson. we spoke with a senior v-p from the sands corporation... he says one of the big differences between the stadium project here and the numerous failed projects across the country... is that adelson is assuming all the ri taxpayers. "this is a very unique opportunity for las vegas to have the state of the art stadium paid for entirerly by tourists and by the private sector, with zero risk to nevada tax payers." the next step in the stadium project is finalizing the site... that should happen at the next tourism committee meeting next month. to stay up to date on all of the latest developments on the proposed n-f-l

pain killers, increasing access to treatment and making sure the antidote is widely available. the administration is also calling on congress to provide 1-point-1 billion dollars in new money to treat the epidemic. the abuse of opioids in the united states is rising at an alarming rate. last year governor sandoval passed house bill 459.... establishing an opioid overdose prevention policy for nevada. but he and first lady kathleen sandoval aren't stopping there. they are hosting a two-day prescription drug abuse summit fox5's peter dawson is live at the mgm convention center with all the details.. the abuse of perception medication in this country could only be described as an epidemic. unlike common street drugs, opioid pills appeal to a wide range of ages from preteens all the way to senior citizens. a here are some eye-opening numbers provided

abuse. in 2012 over 2 million americans abused opioid pain relievers, causing more accidental overdoses than heroin and cocaine combined. pain relievers are the most common drug found on children between the ages of 11 and 13. and in 2013 just in the united states there was 207 million prescriptions written for hydrocodone & oxycodone. to put that into perspective the united states represents almost 100% of all hydrocodone prescriptions and 81% of oxycodone prescriptions written worldwide. these are the statistics and the focus for governor sandoval and first lady kathleen sanoval's prescriptions drug abuse summit here at the mgm convention center. they'll address local and national organizations to help fight this crisis. their focus is not just on the end users but the responsibilities of healthcare providers, doctors and big pharma as well as rehabilitation practices.

now to a fox five update... charities around the valley are stepping up... and pitching in! it's all to to replace backpacks destroyed in a warehouse fire. the backpacks were collected to help the people's autism foundation. clark county fire delivered 200 backpacks and around 400 dollars. the las vegas rescue mission and other organizations also stepped in to help out. the north las vegas police department is getting ready to put its new recruits to the test. the new recruits will go through physical endurance testing at rancho high school this morning. 190 recuits were invited to test their skills and the top 25 will advance in the competition. the testing begins at 8 a-m. we will be there live as the recruits try out for the

green party is facing... alyssa? so there are a few hurdles. and it's all pretty complex-- but basically, to start off-- the green party is not automatically listed on the ballots in nevada... because they just don't have the number of registered voters to get them on there like the other major third-party, the libertarians, do. one reason for the low numbers this year... according to the nevada green party chair... is a lot of voters who were registered greens switched over to the democratic ticket in order to caucus for bernie sanders. but once he dropped out of the race... and jill stein was officially named the green party's candidate... too many state deadlines had passed for new and returning registered greens to count. now a lot of those people have returned because they're disenfranchised with the sysetm too and we've gained more dems. so since demexit our numbers have gone up but it was a little too late at that point. so what the green party did instead of relying

back to the news desk new this morning... the obama administration wants to help states fight opioid abuse. the administration says it will distrubute 53- million dollars to 44 states to fight the crisis. the funding will focus on reducing the over- prescription of pain killers, increasing access to treatment and making sure the antidote is widely available. the administration is also calling on congress to

billion dollars in new money to treat the epidemic. the abuse of opioids in the united states is rising at an alarming rate. last year governor sandoval passed house bill 459.... establishing an opioid overdose prevention policy for nevada. but he and first lady kathleen sandoval aren't stopping there. they are hosting a two-day prescription drug abuse summit and that's where fox5's peter dawson is live at the m-g-m grand convention center with more. the abuse of perception country could only be described as an epidemic. unlike common street drugs, opioid pills appeal to a wide range of ages from preteens all the way to senior citizens. a here are some eye-opening numbers provided by national institute of drug abuse. in 2012 over 2 million americans abused opioid pain relievers, causing
