cooler temperatures are setting up in the las vegas valley for the next few days. we have one low moving across nevada that will help create some windy conditions. a lake wind advisory is in effect for the lake mead area through tuesday evening with gusts in excess of 30 mph. las vegas can also expect wind gusts of 30 plus mph. for sliding south from the northwest will push even cooler temperatures into las vegas. daytime temperatures will drop to the upper 80's for wednesday. highs will begin to rebound by thursday but will only climb up to around 95 degrees. the uv index for monday is 8 or very
hit and killed a man on a bike-- was later found at his home-- still showing signs of impairment. the biker was hit just before 9 p-m last night on bannock way... that's near rainbow and charleston. witnesses say the driver of a ford f-250 hit the biker before crashing through the backyard of a home. there was a party going on at the time. luckily nobody in the backyard was hurt. police say the driver ditched his truck and took off running. police later found him at his home where they say he displayed signs of impairment. he was arrested
the victim was taken to u-m-c... but he didn't make it. the gunman wanted for shooting a person to death on friday was arrested in gilbert, arizona over the weekend. 22-year-old asa brown is now in police custody. police say he was involved in a shooting at an apartment complex near desert inn and maryland parkway. police are now thanking the public for their assistance in tracking him down. a small plane crash near reno is under investigation. the plane crashed during takeoff sunday night at the reno-tahoe international airport. plane landed in a long-term parking lot. three people on board the plane were killed. several cars on the ground were damaged. the f-a-a says the pilot ran into some kind of technical difficulty after takeoff. the investigation into the cause of the crash continues. actress alexis arquette has died. arquette died sunday at the age of 47. alexis, who was born robert arquette, was also a transgender activist. this morning the arquette family is thanking alexis for teaching the world about acceptance for transgender
arquette was known for her roles in the movies "the wedding singer" and "pulp fiction." the family says arquette passed away "surrounded by love." hillary clinton is canceling plans to visit the west coast after being diagnosed with pneumonia. now the incident is putting a lot of focus on clinton's health. andrew spencer has the latest.

"we appreciate them and often times we don't stop to take the opportunity to say thank you and we wanted to do it in a fun way to say thank you for your service, thank you for giving to our community." the city of north las vegas passed a resolution... declaring the second saturday of every september... "military and veteran appreciation day." superheroes blast into las vegas to help fight childhood cancer. for the 26-th year in a row... candlelighters held the superhero 5-k. participants don capes... masks... and tights to help raise awareness for children affected by childhood cancer. thousand of racers... walkers and pups came out to 'exploration park' this year. "it makes me feel really good that all
fundraising for team rosa lots of people came together and helped out and came out to support her and support our family and support candlelighters too." this year... the 5-k also included a bounce house... awards ceremony... raffle and bone marrow drive. candlelighters has helped more than a thousand families since it's creation in 19-78. the unlv rebels are 1-1 for the season. the rebs put it all on the line saturday in pasadena. the team weighs in on their performance at the rose bowl, next. local students make their way to the winners circle. how some nascar superstars are getting our kids ready for back to
exhibit at springs preserve is back open! the interactive exhibit allows visitors to surround themselves with the beautiful, free-flying butterflies. you can also learn about the fragile environments they need to survive. the exhibit is only open in the fall and spring because the temperature is low enough for the butterflies to flutter their wings. tickets are as low as two bucks! las vegas is known as hawaii's ninth island... and one local festival is embracing that title. the pacific island festival is happening this weekend in henderson. it celebrates hawaiian culture and includes arts and crafts, a petting zoo, live
hawaiian food and drinks. "the las vegas dallas cowboy family" held a kick-off party at gameworks on sunday. they say it's the perfect place for fans and their families. kids can play... while parents watch the game. the party kicked off with a ribbon cutting ceremony and balloon release.
