las vegas could be one step closer to landing the raiders... asthe stadium committee is meeting again. they could actually pick the site of the stadium today.. and send off their recommendations to the governor. fox5'a alyssa deitsch joins us live at u-n-l-v.. where the meeting will be. and alyssa... a world-class entertainer is taking a lot of interest in bringing the team here. mr. las vegas himself spoke only to fox5 and says he's very interested in getting involved in bringing the raiders to vegas. he could be here later this morning... the tourism and infrastructure committee is expected to vote

to state lawmakers and the governor. clark county chairman steve sisolak tells fox5 there's a good chance a site will finally get approved today. according to the current draft of the bill -- 750-million dollars for the stadium would come from public funding.. an increase in hotel room tax... and the developers would pay the rest. now... wayne newton, is throwing in his support for the stadium... 0914 wayne newton in- 3:13:10 out- 3:29:10 "everybody has been saying, 'what is las vegas going to morph into next?' because of the rp over the years. i think having a pro team here is the next logical step for the town and the people." he even told us he's be interested in becoming a partial owner. we still don't know where the stadium would be built. the two site proposals on the table right now are at the current bali hai golf course site on las vegas boulevard near the las vegas sign... and a site on russell road on

a mom wants to know why her son was able to kill himself.. while he was on suicide watch at the las vegas jail. she says she didn't even get a call when it happened.. "it's a 30 minute ride to umc. i could have met him there." "(crying) no other mother should have to go through this. find out the next day that her son is dead. i think their policies need to change." christine

her 21-year-old son tyler was arrested for public disturbance and not being on the sidewalk.. she says he was put on medication and suicide watch. according to the coroner...inmates on suicide watch are supposed to be checked every 15 minutes...and that's when they found tyler. he apparently killed himself using a sheet in his jail cell. now...his mom is waiting to hear more about what led to tyler's death.. she says she didn't even have a coroners report until we gave it to her. the city of las vegas wouldn't talk on camera... but we did get an emailed statement.. and it reads --quote-- "the june 16 2016 death of an inmate at the city of las vegas detention center is currently under investigation." it goes on to say they are following "normal procedure" with a full internal investigation.. which could take months..

comment further at this time." now to a bizarre scene at a local fast food joint... after waiting in line at a mcdonald's drive thru... a man finally got to the window... and that's when this happened. i call it like i see it move youre fu car from there... " after a fox5 viewer was told the fast food chain could only take cash. only having a credit card.. tyrone pauline asked to see the manager.. the situation escalated quickly from there. "the most shocking thing to me is i work in customer service for over 10 years and i've never seen i've never had a coworker act like that let alone a manager" after the argument.. pauline shared the video on facebook.. mcdonald's refused to talk to us.. but their corporate office told pauline he could come back

firefighters saving a dog from a burning home is going viral online. the fire broke out wednesday morning... at a home near lake mead and warm springs. once firefighters arrived at the scene... they saw thick smoke consuming the home. when crews went inside they saw a dog laying on the floor. they pulled the pitbull out..and quickly put out the fire. the fire displaced a family of three... four if you include the dog.. who is now back with it's owners. damage is estimated at 90- thousand dollars. who needs a song for an alarm when we're providing you with a live band? it's been a great way to wake up-- the live acoustics of the six string soldiers... in las vegas for a special performance with musician john fogerty. fox5's peter dawson is live with the band outside our front doors.
