& already hundreds of homs and businesses have been affected. this morning, more than 40 iowa national guard soldiers are going to missouri to provide relief. yesterday, soldiers n cedar rapids prepared tanks and a water purification syytem to bring. these tanks can provide up to 125 gallons of clean water per minute. big crowds of iowa fans all over southern california. and when the uss iowa battleship decided to throw a pep rally, hawkeye fans came out in full force, shattering the e ingle day atttndance recordrd descending on the u-s-s iowa for the largest pep rally ever held. until now, the previous single day attendance record for the iowa was about ten thousanan iowa fans easily doubled it. and for many of those fans, this was just another great chance to be among otr iowa faithful. team: we look to stay dry for the next few days as a few clouds will track through the area today that may bringa few flurries. stormtrack7 live weather network cameras won't show any weather related travel issues this morning, despite those flurries. temperatures were helped by a blanknkt of clouds overnight... they are in the low to mid 20s early this morning with a few teens to the west as skies clear out. wind chills are in the single digits and teens and may dip below zero with winds mamanly 5 to 15 mph although some areas are reporting 20 mph winds this morning. mostly from the west and should stay that dirrtion today. not much really

over the next couple of days, although the speeds will vary, they will be mainly 5 to 15 mph through saturday. the clouds tracking through right now may have a few flurries with them buu nothing addidig up. the trough will continue to track toward the great lakes and we will have sunshine later this morning, but i think some more clouds will track in again later today as yet another disturbance rotates through the region. it looks ike we will have the most clouds today. temperaturee will be pretttt close to normal today and tomorrow across the region. our highs will aim for the upper 20s with those west winds continuing through tonight. lows drop into the upper single digits to mid teens with wind chills possibly dropping to -5 by mornng. saturday will climb back to the upper 20s with a few low 30s, a chance of snow tracking in wednesday night and thursday as highs climb back to the low 30s.

developing overnight, one person is taken to the hospital following a shooting in waterloo. officers say the victim is expected to survive. we also know an officer fired a gun but the officer did not hit anyone. an overnight in cedar falls, three people are taken to the hospital after a fight and hit an run. one person was hurt in the fight, the other two were hit by the car. this all happened near the voodoo lounge just after midnight, all three people are expected to recover. and today's thh big day, iowa takes on stanford in the

look at hollywood boulevard where our cameras found haakeye fans wandering around yesterday, before the game, ther'es the parade, angie crouch shows us one parade tradition that has stood for 99 years. . they're putting the finishing touches on sierra madre's rose parade float..a forty-four oot lolog family of flamingos floating down a river. while most of the floats in the rose parade are built for companies or arities - sierra madre's float is one of six still being built by individuals. "we're working the whole neighborhood - not just sierra madre - about half our members are from sierra madre and te other half are from the surrounding communities." for sierra madre - a city with just over ten thoand people nestled in the foothills -creating its own rose papaade float is a great

"we always call this the normal rockwell town because it has such old values and community feelings and people getting out for each other.. that's why this is such a success because people just do it." float building has been a part of sierra madre's historor since 1917. lolita brady has been a volunteer for more than 67 years. "when i was in girl scouts, i used ttcome down here and work on it. it was so fun. it was just like a team working together. it was so awesome." sierra madre even built a barn so they could house the float - and each year - hundreds of residents come out to see the finished product. "how do they put this all together? because they work together!" each year - retired engineer dave gaydosh climbs into the drivers seat and hides out beneath more than 30-thousand flowers - to steer the float down the parade route. yo can catch the parade right here on kwwl starting at ten

our top story this morning... police are investigating a shooting that happened in waterloo that sent one person to bar was trying to close for the new year... kwwl's amanda gilbert joins us live in waterloo.... she's been following this story... she has more on what happened.... things seem very quiet right now here in waterloo... but that was not the case earlier... around two this mrning... a bar on 4th street not far from here... called waterloo police... saying no o oe was leaving the bar.... officers responded to this call... and while on scene... the saw a group of people gathered together in the alle between lafayette and sycamore... as the officers approached this group...they say they heard several shots being fired within the group... the crowd immediately gan to scatterr.. according to a press release... during this incident.... a waterloo police officer did fire at someone who was armed...

terrorist attack. police in munich, germany learned about an isis plot for a new year's eve suicide attack. heavily armed security forces station. attacks. in new ork, an exxcon and alleged isis supporter is behind bars and accused of planning an attack eve. he was arrested wednesday after authorities y he bought supplies... including ski masks, zip ties, knives, a machete, duct tape, ammonia and latex gloves. a luxury hotel catches fire during a new yeaea's celebrationn it's in dubai... not far from where the city was holding its fireworks display...the show continued despite the fire. you know it was just kind of a sense of euuoria, people ames and everyone was focused, running you know to get kind of a better vantage point and then right now is kind of a sense of silence out there, you don't hear anything." 14 people were injured. the

investigated. continuing coverage. iowans are heading to missouri today as the state deals with major flooding the water is receedingin the saint louis area but there are still thousands out of their homes. many roads have been closed. some areas downstream are still bracing for the worst. kwwl's olivia mancino shows us what the iowa national guard is bringing to help. these aerial images give a glimspe of the disaster that has taken over the state of missouri. flooding has displaced roadways...and has been responsible for multiple deaths. a little momoe than three hundred miles away.. iowa national gaurd soldiers in cedar rapids are preparing tanks and a water purification system to bring to missouri new years day. "i had new years plans but this is more important, its important to help people because they probably had new years plans too" more thann20 thousand missouri residents are without

and these tanks can provide up to 125 gallons of clean water per minute.. sgt riley saysshe isn't sure what their water will be used for until they get there, but it could potentially be used as drinking water. "the water quality purification plant were going to right now is actually under water" this will be no easy feat for riley and the restof the crew she says she's never responded to a national disastee before but she is more than ready. "i want to be where people need me o i'm really exicted to be down there and help people" today is both h travel day and a work day8for the iowa national guard. over the summer, more ttan 600 soldiers went to louisiana for training, which included flood training. here's a look at another impact of the flooding.

chickens, standing on the roof of a house. one side of a nearby bridge is underwater, keeping drivers from the area. texaschristian university's starting quarterback is arrested, accused of attacking a police officer. police say trevone boykin hit a bar employee, then struck an ofofcer who came to intervene. boykin was released on bond, and is charged with assaulting a public servant. t-c-u suspended the star quarterback and wide receiver preston miller who was also at the bar. neither will be allowed tooplay in the alamo bowl tomorrow. medal of honor recipient kyle carpenter faces a judge on hit-and- run charges in soutcarolina. president obama awarded the medalalto the marine 2014...for jumping on a grenade to save a fellow soldier in afghanistan. but last month carpenter allegedly fled an accident scene after hitting a pedestrian. pololce say carpentt pulled over briefly... but then drove away. he's out on bond the victim is expected to recover. an airplane on its way to iowa

150 passengers and six crew members on board when the plane landed in tennessee. the plane is being inspected to figure out what the problem was, we do know it happened ii the right "it just sounded like we hit something um, the lady in the loud bang um we kind of thought we either hit a bird or the engiie went out." " one passenger we spoke with said it was calm when they y anded in chattanooga, and allgiant was giving them food vouchers while they waited for a different plane to arrive and get them safely to cedar rapids. thousands say their final goodbyes to a firefighter who died on the job. the funeral for patrick wolterman was held in ohio. his casket was loaded onto the same truck that carried him on his last fire call. he died after falling through the floor of a burning house.

yesterday the hawks got to go inside the rose bowl stadium fort& the first time to see the turf where they will battle the cardinal it was about a 30 minute walk through giving the players a chance%to familiarize themselves with tte icocoic stadium. the team also taking a phot -- and our cameras were there, there were also plenty of hawkeye fans outside the gate taking piitures and offering well wishes to the playerrand coaches. iowa's trip to the rose bowl has been very special for one pasadena police officer -- that's because bill broghammer -- a deerah native -- was a member of iowa's 1982 rose bowl team -- and he's set to cheer on another decorah football star who will be suiting up for the hawkeyes tomorrow -- and we've goo my josey jewell coming back here, so we're happy campers another decorah boy gets to play in the rose bowl. broghammer's been a pasadena
